Its a computer and a file, the word 'incompatible' has certain connotations They are compatible. Certain individual files may just not work. And, like you, if I find a file doesn't work, I use offline mode to remove something dumb like a volume pedal.

Assuming you are: 1. saving your patches correctly 2. not using the usb/edit when it is not needed then you could try: 1. install/reinstall latest firmware 2. global reset 3. use a different power supply
-
1. always have a backup 2. have you tried reinstalling the firmware (and global reset). 3. have you tried using a different power supply.

I know this is just a wording issue, but I'd just like to tweak that statement a little.... in reverse, the files are completely compatible. But it is possible that you may run into an issue with certain individual patches due to hardware limitations of "the HD500 since the HD500 has 20% less DSP resources available". Basically, when kept up to date with the latest firmware versions, the 4 units (500/500x/pro/pro x) are all the same. The files are all completely compatible with one another. But, depending on the programming of content of individual files, there could be issues. Let's say you were to need an immediate replacement unit (such as loss from theft, or if a venue was going to supply gear because of travel restrictions), these are the things you would need to be aware of - 1. the rack units do not have a (built in) foot controller. This isn't an issue if you are going from a rack unit to a floor unit. But if you have come to rely on "pedalboard mode", you will need to make adjustments to your usage. 2. the rack units have a few other jacks that allow for some minor routing differences. This isn't an issue if you are going from the floor unit to the rack unit. But if you have been using the rack unit in the studio, you may need to make adjustments to your usage. 3. the two X units, while still being limited to 2 amps and 8 effect blocks, have "more power". This really only matters if you are running dual amps and 8 delays/reverbs in one patch. It is only those type of extreme power consuming patches that will not work on the "low power" units.

Well.... Every patch you have should have been copied to somewhere. So, really, there is no way you are going to lose anything. And, also, as far the factory sounds go, they are available when you install firmware. So, again, they aren't going to be lost. *Factory presets have changed over the years. A particular "original" may no longer be available if you install a different firmware.

With the right MIDI programming, anything is possible. And those capable of programming such things don't need to ask if it is possible, they ask for the various MIDI codes so that they can make it happen. So, I will assume you want the simple answer... The unit only offers 2 expression pedals. You can program each pedal to do multiple tasks, including inverted actions. But you are limited to 2 exp pedals.

I use no amp. I run direct. That, to me, is the best way to hook the unit up. Simply because it allows the unit to be used as it was intended; without a 3rd party device coloring anything. It also prevents situations like what you are in - changing the hookup method, renders all previous tones are useless. TONE There are no "rules". There are only starting suggestions based on things people have tried over the last 50 years. The only rule is - do what needs done to get the tone you want. In fact, many of my tones use a preamp.
-
I have only bought used units. I have never had a problem with any of them. Others have said that they have had problems. But I can only speak for myself. I will point out, however. That I never purchased the amps. I bought a used unit with them.

Uh, hi, i made patches but the volumes are different... no lollipop. So, then, change it.

I have no Mac experience, except of the Sabbath variety. But those on Windows, if you can't drag~n~drop, we need to figure out what is wrong with the computer more than what is wrong with the L6 software.
-
Well, of course, if you add more pieces to the puzzle, it changes the answer. Yes, there are numerous more amps (and effects, and bug fixes) from firmware 1.0 and 2.6

one less thing you need to carry

focus on playing before you try chasing tone

cough... I feel like a broken record because I repeat myself so often... You do not need to convert files that belong to the HD500/HD500X/HD Pro/ HD Pro X They are all interchangeable. The only issue you have is that the specific EDIT program for each device is only looking for a specific extension. The files work, you just need to use the 'drag and drop' method instead of using the file explorer.

Yes you are.

1. You've just proven yourself to be a douche, simply because you signed up to a forum for the sole purpose of announcing that you have no business being here. 2. You have just proven yourself to be a douche, simply because you aren't smart enough to know that "the NET" is full of hyper-sensitive complainers. As well as, because that is where you go to post questions and "help me" situations. 3. You are a douche, simply because you are unable to determine that most "connection problems" are due to the device they are being connected to, not the device being connected.

If you want "on the fly", you amp's eq is much easier. The GEQ, imo, is more for the the start of the night when you have time to tweak.

But, just in case... If you want the "original" settings, you aren't going to get that from Monkey. Monkey only gives you the most recent firmware. You will need to download the original from the L6 website. for the 500x https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=5531 for the 500 (not original, but is oldest available) https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=3608
