  1. Whenever i diagnose issues, i first pull up an empty preset and see how that sounds. Then one by one add elements, amp being first, to help figure out when the offender shows up. Make sure the volume doesnt change too much when adding effects. I think some of the default levels of the effects are too high. Effect on/off = same output level - hopefully to eliminate the rare possibility of digital clipping. In real amp world we do this so we can be in the same room as the amp, in digital world we turn down output and the levels inside Helix may be higher then we normally use.
  2. 5 real amp on stage at one time?
  3. I use this if needed. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=art+dti&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&typedValue=&Top+Nav-Search= It ground isolates, can be used with 1/4 or xlr, it converts both ways, and of course blocks phantom. Edit: and your levels stay the same. No boost or loss.
  4. Seems to be a common demographic we are in. Im in mid 40s and youngest in the cover / some originals band. I find the setting up the old way of tube amps and pedal boards not too bad. For me its after the show. The break down, load the car, then unload at home at the 2am. I just want to go to bed!
  5. I went with this. Its fairly light too. I rolled up a piece of cushion foam and set it on top before i close the lid. Zero movement and good protection http://www.gatorcases.com/p/310109-603/g-mix-12x24
  6. And to add. Unpowering the outlet saved my lollipop a while back when a pipe in basement broke and sprayed my old GT5, mixer, vocal processor. I opened then up, dried them out no problems. I believe having no power in the cord may have prevented damage.
  7. Im the one who asked this a long while ago (year+). Since i have been using a wireless switch (mixer, monitors, Helix). No issues.
  8. Is this with Helix connected or not connected to computer. 1 Disconnect Helix from computer 2 reboot helix. ( off then on) 3 try chorus again Same results?
  9. I guess i could push those freqs up at home then go flat to FOH.
  10. I have found i can use my studio monitors at a comfortable volume at home. Then when pushing through a pa live i cut 3k at 4db or 5db. Q around 1.8 to 2. That seems to deal with the Fletcher- Munson or whatever higher volume causes.
  11. Some maybe obvious things we all overlook sometimes. Using a ts cable? Volume knob on helix? Try different cable? Does same cable work with guitar direct to amp? Open a blank "new preset" and try.
  12. Very broad question. What "sound" are you after? Name a song or artist we can reference. Try the Mesa clean channel or the Archtype clean. Then turn up the bias!! Low bias in real amps starves the tubes causing clipping so higher should give more clean overhead to a point. Just a start. You should get a lot of great suggestions. Check this thread often. Good luck. :)

    Helix sighting

Hmmm. Probibly so, but I wonder the power of cooperate sponsors not allowing him or any commercially successful artist to just use it.
  14. There is some tricks you can try. Maybe split the 2a amp+cab, put amp on path 1, move cabs to 2? Post the patch, some on this board like a challenge. To post a patch: Save it on your computer, rename it as a .txt file, then attach.
  15. I recently tried this. I felt i needed a bit of "oomph" in one of my presets. I tried an IR in parallel to a stock cab, blended it, sounded great. I'm very sure this can be done with all stock cabs too. Its just different, have fun!!
  16. i hope Line 6 updates it to allow color change. It was one of the first things I tried when snaps first came out,
  17. Not able to, yet hopefully. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Snapshots-LED-colors-etc/831869-23508
  18. Good unit. A bit techie to use but works great. And its a bit large.
  19. I think using a mono eq, gain, or whatever block after the merge of the 2 IRs then reverb after that, you will get even volume. Regardless of individual IR levels.
  20. USB connected to computer? Shooting in the dark.

    XLR or Jacks

Are the A&H preamps special in any way? If not, Helix as interface is my vote.
  22. Cant you just set new resolution when running Helix Editor? I know it messes up the icons
