  1. Try placing a gain block before the amp block to attenuate amplitude and clean up your amp of choice. Also raising the bias parameter helps clean up the sound.
  2. It looks like it would be a fun project and I'd probably try my hand at it for at least the output connections and the USB, which are all I really touch these days, but I'm a fan of the sleek plain look of the Helix as-is
  3. Check the bypass assignments of those effects. What are they set to?
  4. Be specific. What is the name of the file you downloaded and it's extension. What kind of computer do you have?
  5. Not finding any names in the preceding messages, only stating of screenshots, which I'd love to see. So far, from this thread, ive gathered: OP Made it for free, but says it wasn't his idea, and that he made it "better for all and free". Which tells me He saw The one Chad Boston made and made it "better" by redoing it and making it free for everyone to share and expand upon. OP is free to correct me if im wrong here. OP made these because "it can’t be everything a matter of money, please share your knowledge, ideas and your passions to everyone" and I agree with you about sharing ideas and passions. The whole reason why I became a part of the Facebook Helix group was to share information, presets, and help other users. Then I read talk of a hard discussion, and a threat to get punched. Screenshots? I'd love to see those. Please send them my way. I'm not a fan of folks threatening others. Another user here reported that Chad posted about this very thread and seems pissed. From what I gathered from Chad's post from his ill state, is that he felt really hurt by someone doing what he does but for free, albeit Chad's version comes on vinyl and has color coded bits. Another member of the group had a disagreement with Chad about even bringing this up, saying that threats would start coming OPs direction at this site, and frankly that's why I'm here. Chad seemed that this wasn't his aim and stated he even linked to OP's file for everyone in the group to download if they wanted to, and didn't seem outwardly aggressive at all. OP, please send me those screenshots
  6. I'm a moderator in that group. Has someone from the group threatened you? That's not cool...

  8. Some presets I've made might steer you in the right direction: http://bit.ly/Bulbous - Based on a Sweetwater interview of Misha Mansoor's gear from last year http://bit.ly/FullMetalPack - Just a bunch of Metal presets with snaps for different styles http://bit.ly/TheAmbientPack - Title says it all and if they don't, they're free, won't hurt to try
  9. I'd just disable the cab sim with the bypass button and rock on
  10. Synth-o-matic. I looooove that setting on my FM4. Not so much on the HD, but I can get lost in that drone for hours. I'd pair that up with a harmony effect, controlling the melody with the harmonizing interval and and tweak oscillating delays. Who needs a guitar? I just hope the model responds in the Helix like it does on the FM4, not the HD
  11. Those blocks' default states are ON. Just turn them off when you don't want a note produced
  12. I think you misinterpreted my metaphor for the fork in this case. I would love to see this issue resolved and it has been mentioned by Line6 that they are looking into it. The fix is the fork
  13. The point is, is that they're not going to tell us if and when they might make "adjustments" to amp models.
  14. If had been said many times in the big TGP Helix thread that The engineers perform undisclosed "under the hood improvements" in updates. Plenty of users have reported differences, especially in the Ac30 model
  15. Just an update on my situation, I've sent my Helix in for repair this August and it came back with the same problems. They sent me a brand new replacement a week ago and it's connecting great for long lengths of time with no drop outs
  16. You'll need to download the older editor associated with your version

  18. I think it needs a fork stuck in it
  19. This has been posted many times here before Sag Controls power amp sag or compression 0% tight, 50% normal, 100% more touch for dynamic sustain. Lower Sag values offer a "tighter" responsiveness for metal and djent playing; higher values provide more touch dynamics & sustain for blues and classic rock riffs. High Bias (closer to class A) reduces the effect of the Sag control. Sag doesn’t exist in class A amplifiers since the average plate current doesn’t change. Sag is caused by the amplifiers power supply being unable to meet the demand when the map is pushed hard with high Master. When the power sags, the amp output drops and then recovers, creating a unique compression effect with some additional, but temporary distortion when you pick hard. Unlike compressors before the amp, sag compression occurs even when the amp is already very distorted. Large sag gives more compression, better sustain, and can accentuate pick attack. But the amp will appear somewhat less responsive especially at the low end and can get muddy. Hum Controls how much heater hum interacts with your tone. Tube amplifiers generally used low voltage AC in the tube heaters, and sometimes this could add some hum into the signal. At higher settings, things get freaky. Higher levels cause some intermodulation distortion as the heater hum mixes with the signal. Generally left at 0 unless you are looking for a specific effect. Ripple Controls how much AC ripple in the power supply interacts with your tone. The power supply of a tube amp is filtered with large capacitors. If the amp is driven hard, these capacitors can’t provide sufficient filtering and some AC ripple is introduced into the signal. This is similar to hum but is on the plate of the tube instead of the heater and has a different shape. At higher settings, things get freaky. Also generally left at 0 unless you are looking for a specific effect. Bias Changes the Bias of the power tubes. Lower values achieve a "colder" Class AB biasing. At maximum, the amp is operating in Class A. Higher or “hot" bias will increase the warmth, reduce headroom, distort earlier or at a lower Master setting, and (in a tube amp) decrease the tube life. Lower or “cold" bias will make the sound less sweet, but will tighten it up and make it more dynamic. Bias X Determines how the power amp tubes' voicing reacts when pushed hard, controlling how much the bias changes when the amp is driven hard. Bias X is a bit like Sag, except it controls change in a tube’s operating point due to change in the tube bias when the amp is driven hard. Set low for a tighter feel. Set high for more tube compression. This parameter is highly reactive with the Drive and Master settings.
  20. Here we go again...
  21. What do you think your issue is with eq? Are you hearing something you don't like?
  22. Yeah lollipop Helix! lollipoping lollipop! ;) If you've ever correctly set up a compressors makeup gain, you can use your ears to balance patches. It's not rocket science
