  1. You can do this with the expression pedal, but not the knobs on the Helix. I have some presets where I am controlling more than 5 parameters with one expression pedal simultaneously.
  2. Yes on both. Recently a firmware update focused on bass amp and effect additions. For a full list of amps, effects, etc go here http://line6.com/helix/index.html
  3. You can set global EQ to effect 1/4" outs, XLR, or both. I suspect yours is set to 1/4" since you didn't hear it make any difference. I think it is on the 2nd or 3rd page of the Global EQ screen.
  4. I am not sure what RF band G10 uses, but I don't think knowing that will help you. When you put the G10 transmitter into the base, it scans all frequencies in the wireless range to see what is already running out there, and it chooses one that is not being used. Since you cannot configure the G10, you should ALWAYS start that one up last. You want all of your wireless devices up and running before you let G10 auto configure. If you do not, you are firing another device up that is interfering with it after it has already auto configured. The easy way to fix that on G10 is just to re-seat the transmitter into the base unit so it can auto configure again.
  5. Some have used two 1/4" adapters for instruments with really deep jack pockets.
  6. Not a bug. Line 6 changes factory presets with firmware changes. If you want to keep those factory presets, back those up like you would your own presets before making a firmware upgrade. If you want some older factory presets back, revert back to that revision, back up the presets, then upgrade the firmware again. Overwriting a preset will not cause anything to crash. You may have a corrupt preset though that could cause some crashing. I have had that in the past and I just recreated it from scratch and deleted the old one. Don't assume because the Boss (or Kemper, or Fractal) doesn't do something, that the Helix is the same. They are all different animals.
  7. You won't be able to take your preset made for your amp and play it though the PA and have it sound the same at all. I would recommend spending at least 2-4 hours playing around with it on the PA before you get the feel for how it could sound. Just drop in your favorite amp model and a cab, and start from scratch. Play around with the mic settings on the cab for a while, then the amp settings. After doing that for a while, then add some reverb and delay. Always start with your core tone until you get it dialed in.
  8. If you have an external expression, try that out. Just set you wah block to look for the external and see if it glitches. If not, then there is an issue with your on board expression. Start a support ticket with Line 6 anyway.
  9. On each track in Reaper, you can set its input and output. You are inputting the dry from Helix on USB 7. Once you have that dry track recorded, you set its output to something back to Helix, like USB 3/4. Then on a Helix preset, you set your input block to USB 3/4. Now you are sending that dry guitar track to your Helix preset. You can then set the output block of that preset to something like USB 5/6 out back to Reaper. You have a separate track in Reaper with the input set to USB 5/6, and you are now recording the dry track running through your Helix, back to Reaper.
  10. If you are wanting a Hendrix/SRV type tone, a Fender Twin Reverb is probably not the optimal place to start. I would maybe start with the Plexi or JTM45 model, and go from there.
  11. I never tried them side by side to compare. I imagine the XLR may only be slightly "brighter".
  12. Very cool that you went from actual hardware to verify, then set it up in Helix and it was there.
  13. any time you cut/paste preset locations using the Editor, Helix will "rebuild" those presets. I always make it a habit of cycling power after doing any file/preset management in Helix with the Editor. You experienced first hand what can happen if you don't reboot after doing that. The manual doesn't spell that out though.
  14. Small mixer with the following plugged into it: PC audio out Interface XLR out Helix XLR out Your monitors connected to the main outs on the mixer. There is no unplugging/plugging after that.
  15. Lots of players are very happy with the Altos. Just about any powered speaker these days will treat you well.

    Reverb sound

    for my taste, 20-50%.
  17. At the top of the download page, choose Helix, all software, all OS. Scroll down to the version of Editor you want. Follow ALL the instructions down to the letter. Yes I would download 2.12, do all of your backups (I recommend backing up your individual preset, not bundle), then do the update, then restore your presets.
  18. Nice catch. I didn't get a chance to sit down and look for it. Yes, start up a support ticket with Line 6 with your details so they will be aware of it.
  19. Ok, gotcha. Make sure you have an ASIO driver installed on your PC. Then you chose that driver as your audio card in Windows. I am not at home right now, so I can't tell you the name of the driver I am using. Also try unplugging your current interface. It could be interfering with your USB connection to Helix. When you have that done, you can play audio from any app within windows (Media Player, Spotify, etc...) over USB 1/2. I listen to music all the time from my PC through Helix on USB 1/2, with monitors connected to the Helix. It is handy for practicing along with music recordings. You can adjust the audio level from your PC on the Helix on Global Settings>Ins Outs> USB 1/2 Trim
  20. In whatever software you are using to control the sound in your laptop (Reaper, ProTools, etc...), you need to select Helix as the audio interface. Just changing it in Windows settings won't translate to other apps/software. For example my laptop is set for the internal sound card in Windows settings, but Reaper is set up to use the Helix ASIO driver as audio in and out.
  21. I generally have separate presets for different guitars. I put something in the preset name to let me know which guitar it is set up for.

    Reverb sound

Since you ran it in the effects loop when using pedals, put the reverb before your cab/IR. I have found most of them in Helix to be a bit harsh. I land up moving the high cut on them to about 1kHz, and vary the mix between 20-50% depending on the need. I also generally run it in parallel with the "dry" signal coming out of the amp block. That will keep your articulation, but layer on some reverb.
  23. Decibels of volume is not directly proportional to total speaker surface area.
