Dreaming of my dream rig....
ADBrown replied to jwiley's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
I've done both ways: Helix, L6 link to L2M, then out to FOH, or Helix L6 to my L2 and xlr to FOH. Both have worked great, no discernible difference in sound. I find myself most often running L6 to my L2m and then xlr from Helix to FOH, but both work fine. -
Here is a full compatibility list: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/fbv-mki-mkii-controllers/the-complete-line-6-pedal-compatibility-faq-r58 You're best bet is the FBV3

Like Rewolf48 mentioned it sounds like it could be a Mac/Windows mix up and may require downloading the correct file for your operating system. The installer should work very much the same as it did for 1.0

Ah sorry, I misunderstood the question. When I've recorded with Spider V I turn off the monitoring for the guitar track I am recording in my DAW. That way I'm hearing the guitar sound of Spider V, which is being recorded, plus the playback of any other tracks, though I don't think this won't help if you're trying to use IR's. You could use Spider V for just amp/effects, and use an IR in your DAW for cab/mic modeling. To turn the cabinet off you can change out the cab to the "No Cabinet" option in the Spider Remote app, or on the amp itself push AMP followed by EDIT, scroll down to the "Cab Enable" option, click on the rotary push knob to toggle between on and off. I haven't yet tried recording Spider V with any IRs yet, but I'm going to have to give it a go.

You can turn all modeling off in Spider V. The effects will have to be turned off manually in the app or on the app. To turn of amp modeling, using the Spider Remote app: select your amp then tap the icon to change out the amp, select from the "Clean" amp category, the first option is "No Amp". To do this on Spider V, press AMP then EDIT. Push the rotary/push knob to change out the amp model, then scroll to the very first option which will be "No Amp".

Update your Dream rig?
ADBrown replied to edstrat10's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
IR's or Impulse Responses replace the cabinet block in a modeler like Helix. Helix comes loaded with stock cabs, but for additional possibilities you can download third party IR's. An IR has the cab, speaker, mic, and mic placement all baked in. I hope this helps without getting too deep into the technical aspects. -
Depending on what product you are pairing your FBV with, you can sometimes use tap tempo to color the rate or speed of other effects phaser, flanger, tremolo, etc.

DL4 switching effects
ADBrown replied to jwatts93's topic in DL4 MkII / DL4 / MM4 / DM4 / FM4 / AM4 / ToneCore
I would first try a factory reset. Though this will erase any presets you made. You can reset your pedal to the factory settings by powering it up with the A and D footswitches held down - the power is turned on and off on the modeler pedals by inserting a plug into the left mono input jack -
The Essex A-30 being a class A designed power amp will get into mild break up territory quicker than class AB stuff, but you won't be able to push it as far either. You could try and get close to the "21st Century Clean" model by using more than one amp model in Helix. Try the Jazz Rivet on path 1A and a Plexi model on 1B, put the Valve Driver before the split or possibly only in front of the plexi.

The Tube Echo is modeled after the Echoplex EP-1 which has a tube preamp that could sometimes give it a little more bite or very slight overdrive. The Drive knob helps dial in that tube preamp sound. To my ear it adds slightly more bite to the sound and colors the sound differently then Drive a 0%.

Hi Erick, if the unit is unable to change presets or toggle on/off effects then it sounds like your best bet would be bringing it back to GC and exchanging it. Did you attempt to plug into the unit and play? If so, did any sound come through? Did you attempt to connect to your Firehawk via bluetooth and the Firehawk app?

To set up switching between clean and distorted tones you will probably have to do some editing of or making new presets, which can easily be done on the amp or with the Spider V Remote app. One way you can switch from a clean tone to a distorted tone is using 2 presets. Make a clean preset and then a distorted preset adjacent to the clean one. The other option would be to make a tone with set the amp cleaner and then add overdrive/distortion pedal(s) to push the amp for the distorted parts.

Can the FBV3 control amp gain with the pedal?

Can the FBV3 control amp gain with the pedal?
ADBrown replied to deanesque's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
FBV3 can't control an amp's drive parameter in Spider V. Consider posting or searching and voting for this idea on https://line6.ideascale.com/ -
You are correct, one effect per footswitch and FS1 & 5 are locked in. You are able to place your effects just about anywhere you want in the signal chain, aside from the noise gate and wah which are always first and comp/eq which come after the amp.The easiest way to control the order of the effects and see the chain visibly is with the app. It can be done from the front of the amp it just takes a little more thought as the chain is not laid out visually in front of you.

Hi Chris, I don't believe your ipad gen 1 would work with Amplifi, the app requires a higher OS than what that ipad can support. The original FBV shortboard is also incompatible with Amplifi. I use my Amplifi 30 just about everyday for playing music and occasionally jamming, and don't encounter any bluetooth problems. Sometimes I need to manually sync up to start, but as long as I do it correctly I haven't experienced any problems.

It sounds like there is possibly something wrong with the amp. I'd recommend seeing if you can exchange it for a different one, or open a support ticket with Line 6.

Using different items Line 6
ADBrown replied to MichaelTiebesl's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Yes, all three products can be used together, but they won't communicate with each other like some other Line 6 products and your Shuriken will need to be powered by a battery. Amplifi has both effect and amp modeling so you may want to turn effects off in your presets if you are using it withe the M13.- 3 replies

Can never get the sound like in demo videos

Nick Bell, the product specialist in the Van Halen tone tutorial recently appeared on an EVH gear TV episode and there is a link to his EVH preset you can download. These may be worth checking out. Video: Preset: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/oy1dyo6he0vul4a/AAD1jy4G6M8O8XE-bQVeYUoma?dl=0 -

M13 models, which go for the input and which ones in the loop
ADBrown replied to albertojgg's topic in M5 / M9 / M13
A lot of this will be left to your ears and what you like, so try different things. I find filter/pitch/synth effects all work best at the front of the chain since they need a clear signal to track. If there's not a whole lot happening before it I could see a filter type effect working well in the loop. For modulation effects, I do like throwing a tremolo in the effects loop. A lot of the other stuff will fall to experimentation and whether you want that as part of your sound. I don't often see compressors in the effects loop, but it doesn't hurt to try it out and see what results you get. -
