To get an amp to be cleaner in sound turn down the drive parameter on Spider V. You can use the volume parameter to bring the overall volume up without changing the tone. (In addition to turning off the distortion/overdrive effects). The Afterlife preset uses a fairly high gain amp model, so if you wanted to switch to a cleaner sound via presets I'd recommend saving the Afterlife preset in the desired location, then save a clean preset next to it and switch as needed. There are some good clean tone presets in Spider or you can make your own.

Yes the guitar matters and will play a large role in the overall tone. Some of the things that influence tone from the guitar: different woods and combinations of provide different timbres. Guitar construction: solid body guitars, semi hollow, and hollow guitars also have different sounds. Pickups also play a large role, single coil pickups sound different than humbuckers. Different pickup outputs also affect the tone.

Just the studio tube pre
-
I would recommend the studio tube pre, it's located under preamps, then mic. I use it when plugging acoustic guitars into Helix. It has a nice full sound without really altering the tone of your guitar.

It does require some effort but pressing down on the toe position will toggle between expression pedal functions.
-
The FBV3's expression pedal can have 2 functions assigned, usually defaulting to volume and wah. Press down, with some force, on the toe (you'll feel a click) to change from volume to wah, you'll also see the lights next to the expression pedal change from red to green, indicating the wah is engaged. You can also assign effect parameters to the expression pedal in the app. To clear a loop press and hold the function button for a few seconds.
-
With the tuner engaged, rotary knob 1 will let you select the output of the tuner. You can also set it to mute.
-
Press the mode footswitch to toggle between views, you should be able to then see your preset/snap setup.

Yes, this feature was added in the 1.05 firmware. First make sure you are up to date with the firmware. You can check your amps firmware by plugging into a computer and running Line 6 updater or holding the "home" button on the amp. With 1.05 installed, press and hold the "home" button; there is an option to change the phones jack from phones to line out.

Suggestions on next step
ADBrown replied to twiztednate's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
It sounds like Firehawk FX to a FRFR speaker will work best for your needs. You could also check out the Firehawk 1500, it has the Firehawk brains, including Variax control, in a combo amp format. I will also double cruisinon2's Helix sentiment. -
No turning off power, just power on your g10 and sync the transmitter to the receiver AFTER the bassist has finished his wireless setup. It will work like this: Bassist powers on G50 and selects channel. You power up your G10 unit and pair the transmitter and receiver so they sync and select the best available channel.
-
When setting up make sure your bass player sets up and selects a channel on his G50 first. Then plug in your G10, pair the transmitter with the base receiver, and it will sweep to choose the best available channel avoiding the channel your bassist is using.

Hi cfppro123, that doesn't sound like normal operation. First, make sure you are on the latest firmware. You can check the firmware on the amp by pressing and holding the home button. You can also perform a factory reset.; press and hold the home button and then scroll to and select the last option, factory reset. Be sure to back up any custom presets using the Spider remote app before performing the reset. If all fails I would open a support ticket with Line 6. https://line6.com/support/technical-support/

I usually have the tone at between 5-7 when dialing in a tubescreamer, and usually prefer a lower gain with a higher volume. You will need to have some gain though, so try bumping the gain up from 0 until you get the desired result. I'd also recommend checking out how players like SRV and Trey Anastasio setup their tubescreamers.

Can I use the GT10 that comes with the Receiver with the Spider V?
ADBrown replied to satyrnicus's topic in Spider V
Yes, you can buy the whole G10 system and use the transmitter with Spider V. -
You are correct, the G10 will require the base receiver in order to be used with an external effect and Spider V.
-
The looper is activated as soon as you press the button, there shouldn't be any delay. If you are certain there is a delay when using the loop button on the front of the amp, and it is not caused by human error, then you should open a support ticket to ensure the amp is properly functioning. I would also recommend performing a factory reset first.
-
The best floorboard to use with the Spider V series is the FBV3. The looper is activated the very instant it is pressed, which means manually pressing the loop button on the front of the amp to start and stop recording while also simultaneously playing guitar can be prove difficult when trying to make an in time loop.
-
Also worth mentioning, be sure you're guitar's intonation is properly set. If your guitar isn't properly intonated then the Variax tunings won't be either. It sounds like if the other tunings worked fine it is probably not the issue, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

At around 2:38 this video shows the process of assigning an effect to a foot-switch. It will work the same on LT. You can also swap foot-switch assignments using the touch capacitive foot-switches, for example if you had an delay assigned to FS2 and a reverb assigned to FS8 and you wanted to switch their placement you would simply touch and hold each foot-switch for a few seconds then confirm the switch on the screen. https://youtu.be/pmSQ7XKIh1k?t=158

As stated above, tones can be deleted from the "My Tones" section on the Spider V Remote app by swiping left on the tone. Any tones on Spider V you wish to get rid of will need to be overwritten.
