How long is the firmware update supposed to take?
VirtualGuitars replied to SuprSpy79's topic in Helix
Correct . It happens pretty quick. I would just call Line 6 Support tomorrow. Sorry, I tried. :) -

There’s about 5 or 6 different reset options. You want the one that restores the factory bundle. -

There’s a complete reset option with a certain footswitch sequence which varies by model. I would suggest that as a next step. Which model do you own? -

The rebuilding of the presets actually occurs post-upgrade and the first reboot. The Line 6 Updater tool isn’t even connected during that process. -

You can also call them. The update typically takes about 5-10 minutes. It then reboots and rebuilds presets which can take another 5 minutes. I would power cycle the device and try to upgrade the firmware again. Make sure you use the Line 6 Updater tool to download the firmware as opposed to dowmloading it separately. -

I would allow it a little more time before power cycling the unit. Make sure you're connected to one your computer's USB ports and not through a USB hub. You also may want to close out of any other applications - especially HX Edit. If you still encounter the issue, I would open up a ticket with Line 6 Support. -
The Line 6 licensing tools is a standalone application.

You can download the Line 6 licensing tool and de-authorize the old one. It’s also worth noting that you can license it on up to five systems.

I suggest trying another brand new set of batteries I also have a G70 and experienced the same thing with a brand new set of batteries that were nearly dead. Just because their new, doesn’t mean they’re fresh.

If you do have the Helix Rack with the Helix Control, make sure you disconnect it before upgrading. I believe it’s part of the upgrade instructions to disconnect it.

All we need to watch our for is another overly, arrogant name like the last few he's had.

Cruel and unusual punishment!

In theory you should be able to do everything with your effects signal chain with the HX Effects or Helix (obviously minus the amp mod and input/outputs).

Upgrading is free via the Mac Store. Just sayin'. :)

I need to learn how to use IRs for these types of configurations. I have a Marshall Silver Mini Jubilee which has the same preamp as the 2555x and I would also love to duplicate the sound.

A question about guitar impedence and wireless systems
VirtualGuitars replied to clumsylover78's topic in Helix
I have a Helix and a Relay G70 wireless system. You do not need to worry about using a guitar with an active pickup. The Relay will take care of the signal before it gets to the Helix. I asked this very same questions a few months back since the Helix has an AUX input for those types of pickups. The Relay takes care of the instrument level pass to the Helix. -

Please post a screenshot of your signal chain like jbuhajla suggested. -
Great info. Thank you.

Done. "This guy is annoying the entire Helix user community. All you have to do is look at his reputation on his last two threads!" Hope the the action.

Be prepared for major backlash, comments, and opinions. Nothing else compares to the Helix family at their price point.

Here is how I wire my two amps. Clearly you can ignore the 7CM altogether if you just have one amp. Make sure to set your output levels appropriately in Global Settings (instrument or line level). 4 Cable Method (4CM) Cable #1 Guitar to Helix Guitar In Cable #2 Helix FX Send Loop 1 to Amp #1 Main Input Cable #3 Amp #1 FX Send Loop to Helix FX Return Loop 1 Cable #4 Helix 1/4" Left (mono) Out to Amp #1 FX Return Loop 7 Cable Method (7CM) Cable #5 Helix FX Send Loop 2 to Amp #2 Main Input Cable #6 Amp #2 FX Send Loop to Helix FX Return Loop 2 Cable #7 Helix 1/4" Right Out to Amp #2 FX Return Loop -

Happy to admit when I'm wrong! -
jbuhajla is absolutely correct. You are only using half of your Helix’s available DSP power by only using the first path

Back to the basics. Have you tried a different web browser? You may also want to check your browser plug-ins to see if they're up-to-date. Sounds like a browser issue to me.
