finally got to load 2.50... was in Texas for 2 weeks...
VirtualGuitars replied to glideman's topic in Helix
Sorry for your loss. Hope we took care of you while you were here in Texas. :) -
You should be able to use a traditional standard instrument TS cable. This works just fine on my Marshall JTM312 and Marshall Silver Mini Jubilee with my Helix. Use the Ext Amp jack on the Helix. You also need to set the appropriate tip/ring or tip/ring/sleeve setting in Global Settings. Then you can assign a stomp button on one of your presets. It’s saved on a preset by preset basis. Personally I save it as a blank preset and then copy it over to all of my new presets. Hope this helps you.

Long running reverbs/delays cuts off abruptly
VirtualGuitars replied to mikaelhansson's topic in Helix Native
Just to start off with the basics. Have you tried closing out all other non-essential applications and/or rebooting your PC/Mac? This will free up RAM and CPU resources necessary for the Helix Native DSP to work efficiently. Speaking of DSP, are you approaching the Helix Native DSP limit, or are you just experiencing this on the new reverbs only? I would try it with nothing else in the signal chain to see if you have the same issue. If you don't, that may point to a system resource issue. -
SALE30 coupon code - Is valid for helix native!
VirtualGuitars replied to bobthedog's topic in Helix
That would make perfect sense. You can't get a discount off of an already majorly discounted item (exception: last year's Black Friday sale). Line 6 is trying to acquire new customers with this promo since existing customers already get a nice discount. -
Line 6 really needs to provide an option to over-right the factory presets with the new firmware's presets (and leave the user setlists alone). This would provide more seamless user experience and avoid mass confusion over upgrade procedures and manual restore efforts. From a development perspective I understand that this would take time away from their core development of the Helix platform itself, but I think we can all agree that HX Edit could use a lot of polishing and feature enhancements like a built-in tuner and being able to edit Global Settings from your PC/Mac. I can't tell you how many times I play right in front of my computer and being able to make adjustments at the keyboard would be a big win for me.

You won't lose any of your presets by just upgrading the firmware; however, it order to see the new presets that come with the new firmware there are additional steps required to reset the presets to factory post-upgrade that you WILL lose all user presets. You can also just backup each individual setlist one by one which you should anyway. A full backup is always recommended, but if you do a full backup, upgrade the firmware, and then restore the backup you will simply be restoring the old presets on the device. It's best to backup each component individually (user presets, etc.) and just restore those after you reset the factor presets post-upgrade. There are multiple threads on this that cover each step one by one. I have personally replied to almost all of them. So has silverhead and a few others.

You'll always find stuff to put in the extra compartments. Trust me.

There are two Ext Amp outputs on the HX Effects that can be configured for two channel switching functions each (tip/ring, tip/ring/sleeve). You will need to set this up in Global Settings. Note that these are also the same outputs used for an external expression pedal(s).
-
You need to make sure and close out of all other Line 6 software while running the Line 6 Updater tool.

Helix HX Effects Alternative Power Supply, Now Only $12.99!
VirtualGuitars replied to robberns's topic in Helix
Be careful. Using a non-Line 6 power supply may void your warranty if you encounter an electrical issue. I would highly suggest that you ask Line 6 before using it. You get what you pay for these days. That is my PSA. -
Look at what jbuhajla said. You can do stereo via XLR and mono via 1/4" simultaneously. Obviously if your presets are all mono it won't matter anyway. Like I said on my original reply, I use my XLR outputs going to my reference monitors in stereo using stereo effects and I use my 1/4" outputs in stereo going to two Marshall tube combo amps. Occasionally I only use one amp, so I will get that signal in mono. Just remember that your presets have settings for all of this in addition to what's in Global Settings.
-
Yes, it has been asked many times before. It will fit in the Helix Backpack. Plenty of room for cables too. I own one and it's made very well.

^^^ This.

You can control what outputs and levels come out of the Helix. The default presets have the output set to "multi" which goes to everything, but you can change it which I often do. You also need to make sure you have your line/instrument settings set correctly for your gear in Global Settings.

Yes, you absolutely can. I have my XLRs going to stereo reference monitors and my 1/4"s going to two tube amps. Just make sure to set the appropriate levels in Global Settings (line, instrument, and volume levels, etc.); Your presets will need to be set to "multi" output which is the default. Enjoy!

Yes, you can go straight to version 2.50. If you want to get the new presets, you have to perform a "preset' reset after the firmware update. This will reset the factory presets to the new version. There are too many other threads on here that explain how to do the upgrade in detail. Just search the 2.50 upgrade posts from silverhead or myself (VirtualGuitars). Your best bet is to use the Line 6 Updater tool to pull down the firmware version for you rather than downloading it separately.

Not sure about the HX Effects.

Command Center and Global EQ is in the HX Edit application under the "Window" menu, but not Global Settings.
-
High Sierra will run fine on a 2012 MacBook Pro.
-
Still works on my Marshall amps.
-
The HX Edit application is version 2.51. The latest Helix family firmware is version 2.50.
-
You can do it in the HX Edit application. Click on Command Center (if you're wanting to set channel switching on your amp, etc.) in the menus or you can edit the patches directly.
-
Make sure you're not trying to open HX Edit and the Line 6 Updater at the same time. The Helix family cannot communicate with both of those applications simultaneously.
