  1. I use Alto 210 and can't justify buying say yamaha DRX10. The Alto is perfect. 10" has enough bass for a guitar.
  2. I still think it would be a bliss to have more info on effect's parameters. Since my last post on the subjects I tended to stick to what work for me. A bit fed up with experimenting to try to figure out what the parameter do in reality.
  3. Single Alto TS210. Totally satified. Never play my JVM410 or Koch amps anymore.
  4. I would venture that you can work directly on your Snapshot instant command. You simply need to select Sanphot 1 from any other snashots but 1 to send the MIDI PC saved in Snapshot 1. Prior to selecting you put the amp in learn mode. That should do it.
  5. Bummer. It's been driving me nuts.
  6. Left my home to play. Setup everything. Turn on HELIX. Came back to realized the HELIX has frozen up upon booting. Turn off, back on again. One of my 2 main presets was corrupted. Did not copy it elsewhere. Its a complexe preset that cannot be reprogrammed on the fly. If you're like me with no laptop to turn to. BEFORE A GIG DUPLICATE YOUR SETLIST IN AN OTHER BANK AT LEST YOU CAN FALL BACK ON YOU FEET. These devices are more and more like a computer and sensitive to glitches and power spikes and ... lesson learned
  7. it's been ther as long as I can remember. Every updates its the same ... annoying
  8. I also use a TS210 and and I'm totally satisfyed. Already the TS210 has plenty of bass if you want. When used as a wedge monitor on the floor it does pick up bass and I still have to cut low frequencies with the Helix global EQ. I also hesitated between the 12 and 10 inch. No regrets. My top pick would be the Yamaha DXR10.but that's twice the price. I would buy 2x TS210 to help the sound dispersion a bit.
  9. I've also used a text editor to change my patches to MONO without loosing all individual parameter's values.
  10. My latest goto preset is all about vesatility. Path 1A + 1B is wah + 3x different dist (minotaur, vermin and Fuzz) feeding dual amps( Litogator+Divided DUO). than on the Path 2A IRs + chorus merge from 2B that handle my piezo pickup from Return 3 (+ EQ+ Ir + 2e Chorus). The result feed the last bit that has 2 verbs (plate + particle) and 2 delays (Simple and transistor). The delays are set up on 2 footswitch, one controls which one is active and the second the amount of Mix and Time. That gives 4x differents delay possibilities. As for the layout. 4 stomp on top, 4 snapshots on bottom (clean, rock, drive, SOLO). The real eye opener for me was when I realized the power on the recall setup in the global settings. This way you alter the snapshots before or during a song to better suit the song. For example. you migth use more reverb (I have a footswitch for that) for a clean part than the previous song. Or more delay and drive. I love my Helix and I I could talk about it for hour as you may see right now.. sorry
  11. My 2.12 life has been much more stable than any other FW before. I really only use the editor to backup presets. I keep the USB disconnected since it is a source of error. I keep fine tuning my patches but in general I do less patch building than I used to (for the moment). We'll see if it stays stable when working on a new gig list.
  12. For me, it took nearly a year to come to grip with the changes. Threse are different contexts in which I needed a different approach. 1- 4CM - tube power amp - guitar cabs 2- SS power amp - guitar cabs 3- HELIX - out to headphone 4- HELIX - FRFR Live 5 -HELIX - Recording Starting from 1- I got great results. Next I tried SS power amp and really liked what I got=>simpler setup to carry around. The #3 for headphone was my first venture with simulated cabs. Had a hard times finding a cab I liked. Hashness was difficult to avoid. I finaly settled on ribon mic and dual cabs. Really like what I have now. Could not find a third party IR that I liked either. Then I bougth a cheap Alto TS210. Now I can pretty much use any IR or cabs. In all much more versatile. The harshness is much less present in general.Real space has this ability to smooth things up compared to headphone smack in your ears. And finaly #5 is the ability for the guitar to live in the mix and the ease of using the HEL>IX as an interface. Here I'm also very happy. My Roland QUAD-CAPTURE interface has been discarded on the heap as so many other thing ... Should have posted this somewhere else probably.
  13. Not mentionning when when you deal with different dual cabs ... and want to experiment with different speakers .....!
  14. What about the days where you had to rely on your ears to tune a guitar. No string bending allowed that can detune it. Sorry for oil on the fire but its king of old ...and it creeps in all the threads lately.
  15. Same here. 2.12 and still have treeze ups. Typically when using home, amp button and other editing actions. Seldom freeze just by using it. Some FW revisions were worse than others but freezes are a comon occurence. Had my Helix for 10 months now. Just switched to FRFR and I'm dealing with very few patches. Still I have freezes. But! Still pretty happy. It will get more stable in time.
  16. Would be very usefull. My old BOSS GT-10 had this feature as a global 0-100% setting.
  17. I've discovered the Park model. By taming the low end. I have now a preset that can do cleanish, rock and lead. I used the minautor to britgnen the sound if needed or the Vermin dist for more nasty/cutting lead. Really surprising. Articulate and better than many prior attempt at a versatile preset.
  18. You simply forgot to push the button while turning. White bracket will apper indicating that this parameter in now in slave to a controller (in this case snapshot). Save your preset new before setting a different snapshot. If you set the recall mode in the global settings you can go back and forth between snapshots and the parameters will swill be kept as you set them. Save the preset when you are satified.
  19. For #3 try fixing the preset export and reimport. You might still see the light on/off state switch still. It happenned to me months ago. I was sure it was the firmware and/or the editor but turn out to be the presets themselves which had a abnormal merge block. Just saying sometime it's not obvious at first.
  20. I'm not a frequent looper user but I do like to lay down a riff and explore some ideas. It was always fine and neat. I would change presets and try a different lead tone or the next. Every switch of presets was totaly seemless and the background loop would continue perfectly. Now after the 2.1 upgrade all the preset changes induce a momentary silence. I don't think there's a delay, just turned off for a brief moment. Anybody can confirm this? Tks.
  21. Oups! Guess I need an other coffee. No I did not try it with 2 amps.
  22. That's basically the 4CM setup. Although the Helix has 4 FX loops so one has to be used as the insert in the TC G-System case. The G-system end up has 5 loops equivalent.
  23. I'm not using speakersims since I used guitar cabs loaded with Celestions G12K100 and CL80. I cut typically 80Hz and down for distorted sounds and up to 120 Hz for clean (bass can be brutal for clean sounds) Ii let the bass player fill this spectrum. I also cut the highs to 7.5 kHz it reduce the ear fatigue more than it's noticable (I may be dreaming here).
  24. Since day one (6 months ago) used only UI for patch design and Editor for saving/restoring. Edit was usefull to see the global EQ curves. I wish there was more info on idividual effects parameters somewhere since I am not the authority in using the various effects to start with. There is next to no info on the settings of parameters so experimentation sometime is very tedious on elaborate blocs.
