  1. the board is just a controller... you need to review you amps manual for answers to those questions. http://line6.com/legacy/
  2. I've used the HD500, HD Desktop, and HD Pro x with mavericks no issues.... (the older gearbox/XT/X3 users are having issues though)
  3. you can't make your own bundle, as those are determined by marketing... i'm sure that they will support the model packs in general... the bigger worry is your computer environment... meaning they won't be updating the software... so if you upgrade your computer at some point the software may no longer be compatible. you might find yourself needing an older computer to use some features. i don't expect the packs to go cheaper... since they will still be selling them for pod farm owners... but as a hint... look up the packs for ANY device... sometimes the packs are cheaper for a UX1 or UX2... but once you own the licenses you can use them on any line6 device you have...
  4. the only thing you can do if you do not have the means of contacting the previous owner directly is call support and plead your case. http://line6.com/company/contact/ they may be able to contact the owner on your behalf. (as in i doubt they would share his private info with you) or they may be able to review the device history and find another way to help you... keep in mind, that support is ending on January 1st, and that they've never gotten a penny from you... (be nice) You'll find them to be very helpful.
  5. They are ending support for the xt and x3 line as of January 1st officially... so there is never likely to be any updates or need for monkey once your licenses are installed (if you have model packs) in any case you might try an older version of monkey in case they've pre-emptively removed the devices. (i honestly do not know if that's the case.)
  6. it appears from other posts that line6 servers are having issues, i don't have any details on the issue, but i'm sure they will be corrected soon.
  7. you can create very different tones... since pod farm 2 can use multiples from the same category... 2 delays, etc.. but on a straight 1:1 comparison of amp models and effects BigChas is correct they are identical.
  8. The variax input sends power, and the fbv input sends power... they may do so on different pairs, and if thats the case it may have messed something up. I'd call support tomorrow and see if they know http://line6.com/company/contact/
  9. it doesn't plug into the same place as the variax... if you are trying that... that's why its not working.
  10. just pick a model that pleases you... they are supposed to sound different... you can surely build one close to the built in pickups for alt tuning. you can use either of those methods as well... the cap value is a capacitor value that's typically on the potentiometers inside your guitar... it will affect how the tone operates.
  11. not really... you can adjust the position of the pickup, the tone control cap value, and the string/model volume... you can also store/recall the tone/volume settings if you're using a pod.
  12. As i told the original poster... the boxes mean you need to take it to a service center. YOU don't diagnose it... it's not user serviceable it is a solid state amp... and your problem is not typical... and therefore does not have any quick fix to my knowledge. I personally found your post "i'm such a victim, Line6 has a conspiracy against me" to be far more immature. They've sold over a million spider amps... and because you found one guys post about a similar issue you are having... (and i'm sure there are others with the same SYMPTOM, which does not necessarily mean the same root cause....) you think there's some grand conspiracy to cheat you out of a few bucks.... come on now... truth is things fail... it surely sucks when it happens... but that doesn't mean that there is some sort of overall defect or conspiracy... that just means that you sir are unfortunate and unlucky in this instance... which is surely something like 3-5 years after you purchased your long discontinued amp.
  13. Press Release: Nothing Last Forever. Sincerely, Reality.
  14. if by reinstall you mean just set the current version back to default... just pinch the pentode/triode switch with the topo switch while powering on... hold it down until the lights blink and release.... if you mean install a new version... go to the downloads link at the top right and download the file... you can use monkey from the file rather than connecting to the server.
  15. there is a second officially supported\licensed pedal besides the line6 one... and it looks MUCH nicer! http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EP1L6Bk?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=PPC&utm_campaign=none&utm_term=DSA_-_Product&adpos=1t1&device=c&network=g&gclid=CLvK1arYiLsCFUMV7AodtQ0ATA i always wanted to get one... but my cheap looking line6 ones won't die! haha :)

    Add Ons?.

nothing software wise... infinite number of things you can add to it though... JTV, DT amp, pedals in the loop :D

    Add Ons?.

yes, that is correct. there are no addons for the HD pods at this time.
  18. it's not listed anywhere on this site as officially supported... sorry i know that doesn't help... just saying...you took a chance... hopefully someone can help you with it, but i wouldn't be terribly surprised if it simply does not work.
  19. there is not going to be a fix for gearbox. It is no longer being developed. Support has ended, Live technical support will end as well as of January 1st. this workaround was posted by another user, and perhaps it will work for you. To remove driver 7.3.6 1- On a terminal run this command sudo pkgutil --forget com.line6.driver.xtaudio.package (enter) 2- Then this sudo pkgutil --forget com.line6.driver.xtmidi.package (enter) 3- Reboot To install driver 7.2.9 4- Downloaded driver version 7.2.9 http://line6.com/sof...a.html?rid=5675 5- Run the 7.2.9 driver package to install it and ended the process with a reboot
  20. support chimed in on a recent thread and advised against using any tubes other than the stock tubes, even suggesting replacing them with like tubes when the time comes... there's more going on inside the DT50 than a standard tube amp... for variations that seem like tube swaps try using the deep edit parameters... (bias/sag/etc)
  21. sometimes just unplugging the device will allow the driver install to finish.
  22. No, you simply have to authorize it one time, and then it's unlocked and ready to go.
  23. 1. yes... or you can buy all the model packs... platinum is the same software with all the model packs. 2. i recommend you buy platinum rather than all the model packs (and register it) because then you will have a license to use even if you change interfaces... currently the UX2 has the license NOT you... dead UX2 would equal no license for you. 3. yes 4. no... there is a license manager which you would use to unlock all the model packs (platinum) and it is not done by registration number... rather tied to your login... so you can retrieve it at any time by simply logging into the license manager.... with the full platinum version (not just the model packs) you will be able to install and use the software and packs on 4 computers or device at once...
  24. the tones from gearbox are not compatible with pod HD... and i'm not familiar enough with the tone you are inquiring about to give you a definitive answer... the amps and effects in the HD pods are completely different than those in gearbox.. while it may be possible to recreate... there is not likely to be a direct translation.
