  1. riffworks has no midi capability... you need to use something with VSTI's... the kb37 probably came with reason and ableton those would work.
  2. Yeah that would have been ridiculous... if that's even remotely what i said... i said the inability to use a pod as a means of accessing workbench was the limitation... nothing to do with broken interfaces... okay cowboy... ease up.
  3. that's my point... i don't think that string volume is subjective at all... if you have the issue it's factual... and not a matter of opinion. i don't have the issue... which is also factual... I think you have a physical problem with the guitar, that made itself known only when the 2.0 update demanded more use from the internal resources... i honestly don't think that an update will fix that... short of dumbing the new models down to use less resources (AKA lowering the quality) the basis of this thread is more new models vs old models. this thread isn't about anyone's user experience.
  4. this is not a "string volume issue" thread... i don't have that problem... this thread is more about subjective preference. i know you tried and it isnt working for you... i get it... the subjective parts of your post are as valid as any other subjective opinion expressed here... i just don't think that the volume issue is typical, i don't know what it would be, but since i've seen others that have the issue as well... and i know many that have not... i tend to think that it's a hardware thing that only affects certain guitars.... based on no scientific data really... just what it appears to be.
  5. they are not line6 supported, and will not enable any line6 applications to work natively within linux. they are 3rd party audio drivers, that you can of course use of your own risk.
  6. i'm annoyed having to use the box too... but it was included with every guitar... i've not had any of the volume issues that others have had... not trying to argue, but i simply don't think your experience is typical... why is it different? I don't know...
  7. line6 does not support Linux in any way...
  8. its just a matter of what you are calling it... it *IS* a seriously annoying limitation... so really we're not disagreeing with your sentiment... we are only clarifying the nature of your complaint.
  9. 1. standard pod farm does not have the power pack built in... 2. you cant gift packs that come factory installed anyway... so you can't gift the pack from the xt to the gx. gifting meant transferring the model packs from the gx account to your main xt account. also if anything other than the power pack "came with" your xt, you will likely lose them if you connect it to monkey... check here: http://line6.com/account/purchasehistory/ to see if you can gift them... it will give you an error if you can't... might be a better idea to call line6 and tell them what you want to do... they may be able to simplify the process since basically you want to change things on their end... only so much you can do from your end. you can use the model packs on 4 devices or computers at one time... so you won't lose them... you will just be sharing them. from the sounds of things... you have a used xt that came with the model packs... you won't be able to do anything with those... seriously highly recommend that you call support... you can only lose the model packs on your own from the sounds of things...
  10. probably mission engineering, its officially licensed by line6
  11. It sounds like you got a bad interface, rather than a bad guitar. if you have a pod try using that for the update (you cant use workbench through the pod, but you can update)
  12. you'll need to open a support ticket so they can sort you out: http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html
  13. how about the ability to lock the tone knob to do pickup blends? would be kind of cool to blend it on the fly.
  14. you could always get a roller nut: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/fender-lsr-roller-nut have you tried something simple like nut sauce: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/big-bends-nut-sauce-tuning-lubricant
  15. not always the case... if the licenses were comped or even purchased at a discount... FYI
  16. basically he's saying that you would lose the model packs if you register with another account... he's giving you the account... so no big deal... if you want to register it to your account and use your licenses you can do that... but fair warning... the xt comes with the power pack so you may not have purchased it.... and as such it may not be available to the other device.... but yes, you can use your xt power packs with pod farm.... either way it looks like the end result is the same....
  17. 2 completely unrelated things.. your defective wb interface does not a bug make.
  18. honestly, i'd look for a donor... or a broken one on ebay as your best bet... heck even a used one off of craigslist would probably cost less and be less hassle than finding those parts.... (and then you can sell yours as the donor)
  19. no idea why its taking so long.... but the pod connectivity is not considered a bug... a limitation... but not a bug. i have asked, but have no information to offer.
  20. I have several rigs myself and switch alot... for me certain gear just inspires differently.... i keep saying i'm going to trim it down.. but always end up getting a trade offer rather than a cash offer.. still fun for me! and i get to try all kinds of stuff... (just got a 12 string rick :) ) can't speak for Phil though...
  21. i wonder if anyone has ever noticed that that is a link in my signature? :D
  22. can't disagree... i personally just try to stay away from EQ's... i primarily record and don't play live... would rather take care of the EQ stuff in the DAW, because how it sits in the mix is more important to me than how it comes out on it's own.
  23. I also find the deep edit cab parameters are overlooked as far as taming bottom end etc... alot more straightforward than the eq's and take no fx slots... i suppose it depends on if those parameters are adjusting the frequency you want to tune out... but swapping cabs is another good path :)
  24. I had my luthier put a bone nut on mine... he of course fashioned it and set it up himself as in not an off the shelf solution... but coupled with him doing the complete setup post install, the thing never played better.. rang out, nice sustain... was worth it. didn't have any trem problems... but i'm not a heavy trem user so i can't speak as to whether it would work for you.
