Have you tried using it without being connected to Edit? The other thing is where do you have the stomp/line switch for the loop set for on the HD500? Also, are you using just one output on the pedal or two?
-
What do you have the mix parameter for the loop set to? You'd want it set to 100%.
-
There is no pot on the Shortboard. It's an optical pedal, similar to the pedal on the HD500 and 500X.
-
It sounds as if perhaps you might have EXP1 and EXP2 mixed up. It doesn't particularly matter which one you have controlling which, but you have to make sure you have them set to toggle correctly. When you hit the footswitch on the FBV, you switch from EXP1 to EXP2 (or vice versa). So if the volume is active and controlled by EXP1, and you switch to wah it needs to be EXP2. The quick way to see if you have them backwards is to go to each effect and toggle them on or off with the enter button on the unit.

A mic cable would work for the L6 Link connection, but really, the official Line 6 cable is an AES/EBU cable. As far as the VDI cable, you should be able to pick up a Line 6 branded one from any Line 6 dealer. I've seen a few people selling other ones, too. I don't know about where to get them in the UK, though. You want a cable with ethercon connectors on both ends.

I do think you could probably get away with fewer drum mics if you needed to, but I like your idea of using of using your Yamaha mixer as a sub-mix for the drums. You could then run the output from it into two of the line inputs (assuming you still want to keep a stereo mix) in the M20d. That would free up 7 mic preamps on the M20d, and would be pretty clean.
-
I guess I'm having a hard time seeing why this is a problem. You just need to assign the wah to be controlled by EXP2 and don't assign anything to EXP1, and it will do the same thing that you're wanting.
-
That part of the manual is referring to using the FBV as a MIDI controller with the MIDI over USB functionality. The "bank change" command there is a specific MIDI command you can assign to the footswitch to control software. The functions of the footswitches can't be changed like that when you're using them as a controller for a Line 6 device.
-
I would not expect the ability to change banks with the Express. It has never offered this feature as a controller for any of the other products it controls. It allows you to switch between 4 presets within the current bank and gives you access to the wah, volume, and tuner. The one thing I'm not sure of with the Amplifi is if there's a way to make switch banks on the amp with the app so you can access different banks besides the first one.

In the US, the street price for the HD500X (and 500 when it was being made) was $500 pretty much everywhere. With sales, it wasn't that difficult to get for $425 or sometimes less. The price for the Pro X (and Pro, again, when it was being made) is $699.

That board isn't compatible. Line 6 used to make the FBV Longboard that had two onboard expression pedals, but I'm nearly certain that it isn't officially supported as working with Amplifi, either. I do imagine, though, that it could be used to change presets and turn effects on and off, but you'd also have a lot of buttons that don't do anything. I'm not sure if the two pedal would work separately as volume and wah or not. The official supported way to do what you want is to get one of the FBV pedals, either the older ones or MKii versions. The FBV MKii controller allows to you add an external expression pedal. So that would be the way to separate wah and volume.
-
That's the expected behavior... Well, it's the designed behavior, perhaps is a better way of putting it. I would like it if the parameters in app were updated when you moved the knobs on the amp, but they aren't right now.

Does the JTV-69 not come with the battery?
phil_m replied to ashamam's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Weird. No, you're supposed to get one VDI interface, and a battery, and a charger. Are you positive the battery isn't in the box somewhere? Or in the guitar? -
If Monkey recognizes your M9, then it might be worthwhile to try sending the update with only the cable from the interface's MIDI out to the M9's MIDI in connected. You don't really need the cable from the M9's MIDI out to the interface's MIDI in to do the update. You could also try doing the update manually outside of Monkey using one of the SysEx players. I like Bome's SendSx: http://www.bome.com/products/sendsx

You have to remember that what the circuit is changing is the input impedance. Most, if not all, guitar amps have a high input impedance. They would be in the 1M Ohm range. Some pedals are notorious for having a low input impedance - vintage wahs and fuzzes, for instance, and that input impedance affects the way they make your guitar sound. So if you have one of those effects first in your signal chain in the HD500X, in order to be accurate, the input impedance should be lowered. If you have the input Z set to auto, the HD500X will do that for you automatically. It matches the input impedance to whatever the actual input on the pedal or amp being modeled is. But you can always experiment with what sounds best. Getting into the resistance of different pickups is interesting, but it's kind of muddying the waters a bit in regards to this particular setting.
-
Really, just use whichever setting you think sounds the best and works the best for you. There's no right or wrong setting.

With the remote app, I don't usually have to manually connect. Usually, as long as I have the amp on, the app connects as soon as I open it up. As far as the EQ for streaming, there's nothing on the Amplifi itself. Some audio apps have EQs built in, but unfortunately, Spotify doesn't. I did find this, but it's for Windows only: http://www.equalify.me/ The lack of an EQ for Spotify actually seems to be a pretty common complaint in their forums.

The Whammy generally has smoother tracking than the Pitch Bender effect on the POD. If you're simply doing dive bombs are quick octave effects, you can get good results with the POD. But if you're looking for more, you might need your Whammy. There's also the Smart Harmony effect on the POD that does pitch shifting, but, again, it's still only a monophonic effect. I believe the newest Whammy pedal has polyphonic pitch shifting capabilities.

Hooking HD Pro with an external Midi Foot Controller?
phil_m replied to astillandsmall's topic in POD HD
The tuner is turned on when the HD Pro receives a command on CC#69 with a value between 0 and 63. It's turned off when it receives a command on CC#69 with a value between 64 and 127. On the FCB4N2 (I have that pedal, too, btw), you can program up to 4 PC and 8 CCs to each footswitch. So if you want to have the tuner turn off when you hit one of the other switches, you'll have to program the CC#69 with a value of higher than 64 in it to each one as well as having the PC programmed. -
Show me one where you aren't complaining, and I'll do the same... :P Really, though, there have been a few times where I've expressed that I wished Line 6 would have done something differently, but even then, it isn't my nature to go around publicly complaining about things I have no control over. It's simply not productive.
-
Well, you certainly are coming off as offended... And, as far as the Expert thing, it most certainly isn't our job. None of us our employees of Line 6, nor are we here to be cheerleaders. As far as this particular conversation, though, that's really immaterial. You're speaking on a purely hypothetical level about things that have no bearing on reality. These designs decisions were made years ago, and, really, they are what they are. You like the product or you don't. Nothing is going to be changed regarding the physical design of these units at this stage in the game.
-
I still don't know what you're complaining about, really. You're upset that Line 6 has connections on its equipment that will only work with other Line 6 equipment? Is that it? Why on earth is that a bad thing? It's not like you can't use the standard connections (1/4", XLR, etc.) to hook it up with other equipment. Honestly, to me it seems like for some reason you're just choosing to be angry and suspecting Line 6 of having nefarious motives.
