  1. Do you know that the Fender "Twin" could be turned up all the way, without distortion but painfully loud? That's why the US Double is the same way (after what its modeled for). The gains on lots of the other amps in Helix are modeled after the originals, and when the gain is turned up it gets dirty sounding, as expected. Class A and AB amps especially get dirty as you turn up the gain or crank the master. It sounds like you have not been around many amps before, please excuse if this is incorrect. Or maybe this is your 1st foray into modeled (or Profiled) guitar amps and cabs? I do not think anything is wrong with your Helix yet. What are you using for a amp or FRFR speaker?
  2. Here's one back at ya Phil, and Happy Labor Day Ya'll!

    AVX

FYI- Just in case you didn't know (and you are not alone in this as many do not) software companies are starting to release plugins that now require AVX/AVX2 CPU's. AVX compatible processors were introduced in 2011 by Intel and AMD. MASSIVE X and MODO Drum requires an AVX compatible processor to provide increased performance. Its audio engine provides advanced wavetable oscillators, unison voicing, a flexible audio router, and other features which make the use of AVX necessary. Read the fine print on any new software before purchase.
  4. OMG... Yea you will need to purchase the dongle if you have not done so.
  5. The only service around these parts is Guitar Center and I wouldn't let them bury my dead cat.

    setlist question

I read the manual and Silver says I still know nothing///!!! ; P
  7. Yep I can agree to that. I can tweak my guitar and sound just like Chet Atkins too. Well, I seem "capable" of sounding identical with tweaking at times. ; )
  8. My Apollo Quad has two dedicated "Hi-Z" inputs specifically made for guitar and Native does not sound as good to me as Helix does. I'm sure you might not think so Phil but my ears disagree. ; )
  9. Because you can tweak patches "without" the editor in Helix, the editor needs to see Helix so it can load in the latest information. You can't really "hear" what you have tweaked in the editor without Helix producing the sound. It's like wanting to run your motor without the rest of the car, without both what's the point?
  10. There is something in common (along with other software) with all of the problems Helix 2.80/2.81 has had and this OS. The W>I>N>D>O>W>S registry is NOT your friend and never has been. Add to this the multitudes of configurations from "other" PC software and you have a mess. All this included and mashed together, Helix 2.81 is more stable than 10 ever was in my opinion, and that's why I only play "games" on my PC and leave my important stuff on another OS. I'm sure the "I can load anything on my PC and it works great crowd" has another opinion - As always YMMV . ; )
  11. Please add "Solved" to the topic so that others know its fixed- thanks!
  12. My Helix has been fine for many years. That said, it could break tomorrow, just like all my other gear.
  13. Two things here, get a drummer that knows "dynamics" and you won't have a drummer issue, and FYI my PC+ pair is loud as hell when I want them to be.
  14. If you are buying gear without your better half knowing beforehand you are going about it all wrong in the 1st place.
  15. It's only false and a bit pessimistic if you chose to dislike something before actually diving in the hole to see first. ; )
  16. Like the number of speakers in the Firehawk 1500? Get used to it- tis the way of "Marketing" these days and Line 6 is far from being the only one that does it. Am I agreeing with the way they all do this? Hell no, but I also know the difference between *hit and shinola.
  17. Bought it already. I like tone rabbit holes, that's why I have Helix, Kemper, Code, OX, etc etc ; )
  18. Like differences in cars, washing machines, and horses- there are differences in FRFR speakers too. Have you tried a Power Cab Plus yet?
  19. Yep- "NEVER" tweak Helix with your eyes cause it just won't work. Glad you got it sorted harem!
  20. I can confirm that the FH-1500 weighs a TON. Sounds good but HEAVY.
  21. Yet this is exactly what was used for communication from helix to my PowerCab + for months before 2.8 was dropped. ; ) I don't think midi is "that" outdated just yet. Also, remember not very long ago the Line 6 Firehawk 1500 was release and its "only" editor is on an iPad.
  22. Powercab Plus all the way! I have a "pair" and they are set up to send audio back (thru a mixer) to my HR824 Mackie monitors using their (PC+) speaker simulations thru the Mackie, and this works whether turned up or all the way down on the Power Cab Plus! Why do I do this, this way? Because I can also use the speaker simulations from the PC+ on my Kemper too!!! Get a Power Cab Plus, you won't regret it.
