  1. If you had a company that made powercab's and had the ability to move 2 PC+'s (stereo) at $799.00 a pop, or one 2x12 PC+ for about $999 out of the warehouse, which one would you make? I'm thinking Line-6 made the right choice here.
  2. Just watched this YT video where the guy was saying the IR needed to be 48 Khz.
  3. Do you use or have another DAW host to see if it does the same thing with another piece of software?
  4. The simple answer is, it's not irrelevant and instead of being chastised (because somehow it became unfair we cant all play or sound the same) it should be a goal to reach for. Most here could care less if you bought an FX-III or a hamburger, but its the way you went in doing it that rubs people the wrong way. Running down another product (on their forum) just to make yourself feel good about your purchase is childish and condescending Mark. No one here has said a negative thing about the Axe FX-III, and I'm sure you will like it. But you are on a "Helix" forum, and running down (in every way I might add) a Line-6 product by comparing it to Fractals Main box. If you like it better, fine, but keep the asshat condescending comments to yourself.
  5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOJvhTBhMb4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KGmGd0nIro FYI- I'm working on a couple of things from watching the YT clips above, and plan (once I get the Strymon exp cable) to setup "Helix Control Center" to call up the individual stored patch settings within the Riverside pedal.
  6. m3shall, try a different wall socket and eliminate the possibility of moving the power cord while resetting it. Then wiggle the power brick cable once it comes on right and see if this makes the display get flakey. Also lightly press around the display itself and see if that causes issues.
  7. Ok that crossed the line BUCKO!!!! ; )
  8. Yea Simon I'm glad you cleared that up. On major brands, I'm thinking they can afford to do that and most likely do, OTOH I've watched many who were not YT pros yet they could play the heck outta the guitar. In fact, I would guess that the "non-pros" outnumber the pros by 20-1 on youtube, but again names mean nothing without the action to back it up. Take the Helix L-6 link port for example. Until 2.8 is released it won't really be what it was in the HD series midi-control wise. In any case, I'm glad to find out you don't believe that Helix cant be played well unless you a pro. ; )
  9. Well, I did- got a pair coming and can't wait to try the LF Raw. One quick question, are you guys running with the 80hz low-cut turned on?
  10. Yea right.... Cru I'm more inclined to suggest he's here to do the opposite of what he said he wasn't here for. I.E. I don't have any problem with folks bragging about the Axe FX-III, as long as they are not unfairly running down Helix to do it.
  11. Simon, it will sound like that because it did sound like that. No need to be skeptical, re-listen to it for further proof above,. Yes, the guy put in the hours/days/weeks/DECADES and it shows. He plays well. If its skills you or I lack in making these same tones happen, that's on us and NOT the equipment's fault. Its not magic, and you don't need the Apple computer or the bed he has in the video to sound that good, just a desire and lots of practice. In fact, I personally "want" Helix to sound this good and think it would be stupid for any of us not to. So the goals have been set and achievements are there to reach for. As far as it not being real or reachable or fair or some such nonsense, we generally need to all get past the disbelief just because we might not be able to do it yet, it's not realistic, or have a desire for immediate gratification in this kind of guitar playing- cause that ain't gonna happen (in that there will always be someone that learns and plays or sounds better/faster/cleaner than we can), and just do more woodshedding on the plank. ; )
  12. Most excellent tones from this video! I really don't give a shyzial if someone claims there's better tones out there because this is real good! Thanks for sharing.
  13. I didn't know Conway Twitty music was down tuned? ; ) JK- and I see yer point. I really think I want the Powercab Plus for "studio" work. Mainly using it for a (once I'm used to it) quick ballpark setup, then recording it into a DAW. BTW and I haven't looked, the Powercab Plus does also offer a speaker simulated "direct-out" (for going straight into a recording console), correct?
  14. I told them I needed a tuner for the editor...
  15. Plug the headphones into another source (stereo, iphone, etc,) and see if that's loud using them. If it is there's something going on with the headphone output. If they are also not loud enough then have your headphones (and or ears) checked out.
  16. Suprised you didn't like the ASM-12's- I love mine. I have a pair of ASM-12's and like one of the reviews I read, they are suited more for the 4-12cabinet guys versus the ASM-10's. The ASM-10 should be a little brighter and more "mid-rangey" as was also said in the reviews because of the 10" speaker involved. That just makes sense. I think both cabinets (PowerCab or ASM-10) would suit you well. One other thing- if Line 6 really does "FIX" the midi control part of L6-Link, and the PowerCab plus uses that, it could be another reason to keep everything Line-6. That said, I just love the tones out of my ASM-12's for both Helix and my Kemper, and they also have very nice reviews as well. As always, YMMV. Good luck with your search for the holy grail of tone and let us all know if you find it! ; )
  17. My 1st guess is because you don't have something in ProTools setup right. I mean Helix makes sounds on its own, right?
  18. If I missed this please forgive. I have a Lonestar patch that I have setup using varying gains going up from clean to lead. Switching between the snapshots while a not is playing make a high volume peak/tone for just about 1/4 of a second. Is there any way (besides just not playing when switching snapshots) to get rid of this?
  19. I appreciate your hard work in reporting this- great job!
  20. Too bad birth isn't one of these...
