Nothing special about the Litigator model; none of them will sound good. And no, you can’t recreate it using just the FX. Also, you don’t need to start a new thread for this. As long as it remains the same topic it’s better to just add a post to your previous thread.

It’s not necessary to restore your backup but it is useful to at least restore your Global Settings. The rest remains in place through the update. However, if you do perform the recommended (but again not mandatory) factory reset then you will need to restore the other elements of the backup file (IRs, setlists, custom models).

If the only input on your amp is the input to its preamp section (drive/gain, tone stack, etc....) then you don't want to use an amp model in front of it. You should use the HX Stomp/XL only for FX - in which case you'd be better off getting an HX FX device. If you want to use an amp modeler you should use an amp that has an input to the power amp and cab section only, bypassing its preamp. I don't know whether your MMRD50 has this. So the answer to your specific question is... No - the Litigator (or any other amp model) will not sound good if you use a physical amp's preamp after it.

Because sometimes drivers get corrupted and need to be reinstalled. Access to this individual file is not required unless under special circumstances.

There is a menu item in HX Edit called 'Restore....'. You simply select that item and the restoration begins, allowing you to specify whether you want to restore all or only some of the backed-up items (e.g. Global Settings, IRs, Setlists...). Your enthusiasm is evident. Just one caution - be patient. You should anticipate a significant learning curve moving from the analog to digital world. That would be true with any first time experience with digital, whether Line 6 or any other device. Give yourself lots of time to get used to it. It's usually not a plug-and-play experience. This form is a good source to answer your initial questions. Don't hesitate to ask!

Yes, it was confusing. Some time ago HX Edit was updated to check the firmware version installed on the connected Helix device. It notified the user when an update was available and offered to install the update. What it unfortunately did not do was inform the user that it was only dealing with a firmware update, and not the associated HX Edit software update. As a result many users like yourself ended up with updated firmware and outdated, incompatible software. This situation was resolved as of HX Edit v3.01. HX Edit now detects and installs both software and firmware updates.

Automatic updating of the software was introduced in HX Edit v 3.01. Your version of HX Edit v3.00 requires a manual update. Line 6 Updater only handles connected Line 6 devices - not the software on your computer. Download and install HX Edit v3.10, like the release notes told you to do. Forget about Line 6 Updater. It’s no longer necessary for you to even know about unless something malfunctions in the automatic update process. Updates are now managed by HX Edit.

Questions about HX Stomp XL output to Powered PA Speaker
silverhead replied to ericboydce's topic in Helix
Since you are only using one speaker you have no concern about stereo except to make sure that your 1/4” TS cable carries the full stereo signal summed to mono. The L/MONO Stomp output does that so you’re fine. Just make sure you match the Stomp output level to the speaker’s expected input level. (See the Stomp Global Settings. The Output level can be set to Instrument or Line. Your speaker documentation will tell you which to use.) I don’t imagine the 1/8” to Aux option would be any better. -
Very interesting. Thanks for doing that. Like you, the earlier comparison had way too much gain for my ears and I couldn't really notice a difference. Your tones are more similar to what I tend to play. The answer to your Question B is easy. No I haven't noticed a difference. Then again I haven't tried to do an actual comparison as you have. That makes it much easier to notice anything if it's in fact there to hear. The tones are very, very close as far as I can tell. I do, however, notice a slight difference in what I will call the 'fullness' of the sound. It seems to me that there are more overtones apparent in v3.10 than in v3.01. This adds to the fullness. Whether or not that's an improvement is, I guess, a matter of personal taste. To me it is a very slight improvement. But again, nothing I would ever notice unless listening carefully to a well prepared comparison as you have done. Thanks again.

You need to update the HX Edit program to v3.10. As your screenshot shows you are running v3.00

Footswitch freeze bug and thoughts on 12h+ PGO daily usage?
silverhead replied to grdGo33's topic in POD Go
2) No concerns. As you say POD Go is a computer and is designed to be idle and powered on for long periods of time. Like any computer you should make sure the heat vent remains free and clear.- 1 reply

Are you a solo performer or do you play in a group/band? If the latter you may have a rehearsal space where you play at gig volume. Try using some of that rehearsal time to work on your live tones with the band. One technique is to record the band with a mix that excludes your guitar parts. Use that mix at home with headphones and craft your tones to blend with that mix to your taste. The headphones will colour the recording as well as your guitar similarly, so when you go live without the headphones your guitar is still likely to mix well with the band. If you’re a solo performer it’s a tough situation. The best way to hear what you sound like at gig volumes is, well, to play at gig volumes. The next best way, imho, is to use good headphones. But the stage sound will inevitably be different. There’s also an important factor that you don’t mention: the difference between the ‘amp in the room’ sound and the sound of a modeler like Helix. I suggest you do some research on that (lots of threads here). Are you most interested in the sound you hear on stage or the sound the audience hears through a PA?

Yes they should do the job nicely for studio use.

See release notes.

Make sure you also updated the editor.

“StageScape Remote” app and iOS 14
silverhead replied to bdallas's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
No update that I'm aware of. Still not working for me. -
That’s not normal. You shouldn’t have to check and save each preset. I would open a support ticket. The rebuild on startup is normal after adding older presets to the device, which is what happened when you restored your backup. If a further rebuild occurred it would indicate that you may have a corrupt setlist or presets.

When you ran HX Edit v3.01 it should have informed you that two updates were available: HX Edit v3.10 and Helix firmware v3.10. It should then have proceeded to download and install HX Edit v3.10. Did this happen in your case? If not, run HX Edit v3.01 again and make sure that you download and install HX Edit v3.10 first. After HX Edit v3.10 is installed, run it. It should then alert you that one update is available: Helix firmware v3.10. Follow the prompts to install it. It does sometimes happen that this fails with the error message you describe. In this case running the Line 6 Updater program directly may help. Try it while your Helix is displaying the ‘boot failure...’ message.

This behaviour is controlled by a setting contained in the Input block of every preset. A firmware update restores this Variax setting to its default value of Global. You need to reset it to Preset. If you restore your system backup after a firmware update this is reset as part of that process. If you did not restore your Global Settings from your backup file then you need to do this manually (but only in one preset - it's a global setting so affects all presets).

Helix Midi Date Recoding How To
silverhead replied to Bboy19's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
Helix does not produce midi data like the note on/off, duration, tempo/timing, and velocity data. That is the domain of midi keyboard and midi guitar controllers. Helix does not do that. It produces straight up audio and also handles midi program change and continuous controller data. This has nothing to do with editing wrong notes and timing data that a keyboard controller generates. -
Go to the Downloads section of this website. In the middle (software) field select Helix Native from the drop down menu. Click on the Download button in the bottom right corner of the pane describing the v3.10 release. Run the downloaded installer file.

Note too that after doing a factory reset you will have the latest v3.10 factory presets, including any potential additions or modifications. If you want to keep them don’t overwrite them during the restoration of your backup. You can choose NOT to restore Setlists #1, 2, and 8 (Factory1, Factory2, and Templates).

I suggest you open a support ticket.
