    Looper UNDO

Good troubleshooting and great explanation. Thanks.
  2. Yes, an audible change in levels is not unusual but can usually be tweaked away. Perhaps it's easy to mistake this as a 'gap'?

    Looper UNDO

OK - definitely something weird going on. After restarting Helix I duplicated the 1-switch looper test I described above. This time everything worked as expected The 1-second hold on the switch did, indeed, UNDO the most recent overdub (not the entire loop). Another 1-second press (REDO) restored the overdub. At least this all worked as expected while I was doing all this during without stopping the Looper. HOWEVER, after I stopped the loop playback and then restarted it I got the behaviour I described earlier - the 1-second press does nothing to the already recorded loop plus overdubs. Perhaps you could test if there's any behaviour difference between doing all recording, overdubbing, undo and redo in a single looper 'session' and doing the same things over several looper sessions (defined by stopping looper playback but leaving the recording in place). I think it's good to open a support ticket.
  4. This is another statement that I don't quite understand and makes me think you are indeed confusing presets and snapshots. Apologies in advance if the following seems too basic....... Here's a sequence of steps I'd ask you to perform to clear up any confusion about presets and snapshots, and about the lag that you are hearing. I suggest using a couple of Factory presets for this so we all can refer to the same presets. The selected Factory presets are ones that have some snapshots defined. They are: - Preset 23C in the Factory 1 setlist. It is named SnpshotSanctuary. - Preset 31C in the Factory 1 setlist. It is named SFX:Slot Machine. - Preset 14B in the Factory 2 setlist. It is named Snapshot Hotshot. (We don't need to worry about whether or not we like these presets. Remember - all factory presets suck.) 1) In Global settings -> Footswitches set the Preset Mode Switches parameter to Preset/Snap. Your footswitch display should now show the names of the 4 Presets in the current Bank in the top row and the names of snapshots 1 - 4 within the current preset on the bottom row. 2) Navigate to one of the above presets. I think SFX:Slot Machine is the best one to use for this purpose but they will all exhibit the behaviours we want to compare. 3) Note which preset is active; this is the top row LED light that is lit. Note which Snapshot is active; this is the bottom row LED light that is lit. 4) Begin playing. Use the bottom row of footswitches to move between snapshots. Notice that the preset remains the same (same top row light remains lit) while the snapshot lights on the bottom row change to reflect the currently active one. Note also how the lights change for some blocks in the Signal Flow view as their On/Off (Bypass) status changes as defined by the snapshot. There should be no audible gap/lag in the audio as you switch snapshots within a preset. 5) Keep playing. Use the top row of footswitches to move between presets within the current bank. Notice how the preset lights change to reflect the active preset. There should be very brief but audible gap/lag in the audio as you switch presets. Now, remain in this display mode (Preset/Snap) and revisit your own situation where you are noticing a lag when you are 'switching snapshots'. Are you actually switching snapshots and seeing the behaviour in #4 above, or are you really switching presets and seeing the behaviour of #5? Pay close attention to the LED lights: both in the top row that shows preset changes, and the block on/off lights in the Signal Flow view when you use the bottom row of footswitches to change snapshots.

    Looper UNDO

No, that's not a bug. Unfortunately that's the way it is designed to work. What you can do, knowing that this 1-second playback is going to happen when you hold down the switch, is turn down the output volume during that 1second (e.g. by using an EXP pedal assigned to a VOL block that is positioned after the Looper block).

    Looper UNDO

I'm also on v2.82. I cannot reproduce this behaviour. I record a loop with 2 overdubs, then pressed the UNDO switch and only the 2nd overdub is deleted. I still hear the first overdub playing. I am using the 6-switch looper in post-position. EDIT: I did notice something apparently wrong with the 1-switch looper. The description in the firmware v2.60 where the 1-switch looper was introduced. The release notes describe its operation and include this information: While the 1 Switch Looper is in play or overdub mode, press and hold the switch for 1 second. The most recent recording is undone. Holding the switch again will redo the recording. On Helix, Helix Rack/Control, and HX Effects, “UNDO” or “REDO” briefly appears on the scribble strip. On Helix LT, “UNDO” or “REDO” briefly appears in Performance view. I did the same test - record a loop and add two overdubs. (This time the looper was in pre-position but I doubt that's relevant.) The above description seems ambiguous to me. it says "the most recent recording is undone." I don't know whether that means the whole loop including overdubs is undone, or just the most recent overdub. In any case that doesn't seem to matter because it seems that nothing is undone. I still hear the loop with both overdubs.I do see the brief appearance of UNDO and REDO on the display as described but the loop playback is unaffected by holding the switch for 1 second.
  7. Are you perhaps confusing presets with snapshots. Your phrase 'switching between snapshots in a given bank' makes me ask. Banks contain presets; presets contain snapshots. Sounds like you may be switching between presets in the given bank where, yes, there is a lag. When switching between snapshots you remain in the same preset and there is no lag.
  8. That cabinet doesn't seem like FRFR to me. I think it will colour your sound like a normal guitar cabinet. That's not what you want. As long as your chosen speaker is active (i.e. has its own power) you won't need any extra power amp. Start here.... https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiL8_v2_7fmAhUhUt8KHY4lA7cQFjAAegQIARAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.andertons.co.uk%2Flearn%2Fwhat-is-an-frfr-speaker-cabinet&usg=AOvVaw0eTT2dExkbK4XXMxZ-NV9H The above includes some of the more expensive options. Also search for FRFR Studio Speakers. For mono you'll only need one; for stereo you'll need a pair.
  9. Display problems sometimes indicate a power supply problem. Are you using the Line 6 power supply that came with the product? If not, try it. If so, try another power supply that has the exact same specs. If you suspect the power supply here's a potentially relevant thread....
  10. If you don't want to change the sound I suggest you go with an FRFR speaker (PA or studio speaker) instead of a guitar amp.
  11. The yellow picks/tags mean that the preset is a Marketplace Asset and requires authorization. You will have received this authorization when you purchased the asset under a given Line 6 account. You may have to login to your Line 6 account again, under the new Windows account, and re-authorize your Marketplace assets.
  12. and then they join to become two halves and all bets are off. I think that's what they mean by quantum computing.......
  13. There is no negative affect to having your Helix USB connected continuously even if not connected at the other end.
  14. Excellent solution! I had never noticed that you could do that in Global Settings. Makes perfect sense though.
  15. Again I ask - does the amp make the popping sound when you reconfigure manually?
  16. No - each preset should only need to be rebuilt once. At each startup Helix scans all presets and rebuilds only those that have not yet been successfully rebuilt. If you have presets that are repeatedly being rebuilt it indicates that their rebuild is not being successfully completed and the affected presets are potentially corrupt. Note that presets are not rebuilt when imported, so it is normal for these presets to be rebuilt at the next startup. Here's a relevant previous thread....
  17. I am not familiar with that amp but I assume you are changing the amp's configuration by storing the associated midi commands in the HX FX preset. I also assume you can change the amp's configuration manually if you wish. Do you hear the same popping when you manually change the amp's configuration the same way that your midi commands do?
  18. You assign the parameter (in this case the Variax Model) to the Snapshot controller. The simplest way to do that is to quickly press and turn the encoder where you select the Variax Model. It will appear with white brackets around it indicating that it has been assigned to the Snapshot Controller. Then select your snapshot, assign the model you want, and save the preset after each assignment.
  19. No - you can't assign a controller to the phones volume pot.
  20. Is your POD HD500X brand new from the factory/retailer. or just new to you (i.e. used)? Are you in the United States?
  21. It may not be sufficient to just remove the non-HX FX blocks. The preset has to be compatible in terms of structure and DSP demands as well. You need to use the Helix Native Hardware Compatibility Mode as noted in the Helix Native v1.80 release notes. Hardware Compatibility Mode Helix Native can now reflect the signal flow and model set of all Helix and HX hardware devices, so transferring presets to and from your DAW is even easier. In addition, Hardware Compatibility can be disabled entirely, so the simultaneous model count is now limited only by the speed of your computer. Open any instance of Helix Native within your DAW and click the gear icon in the lower left corner to open the Preferences window. Click the Hardware Compatibility tab. From the “Current Hardware Compatibility Mode” pull-down menu, select one of the following options: . . . HX Effects Configures Helix Native such that any presets made can be easily loaded into HX Effects. In this mode, no Amp or Cab models will be available
  22. The POD HD500X has no direct dry signal feed over USB. If you're using the HD as the audio interface you need to use a preset path with no amp/FX blocks to emulate the dry signal. Here's a customtone I uploaded many moons ago for this purpose. https://line6.com/customtone/tone/2784034/ EDIT: I now realize I misinterpreted your question, but the preset I linked to will help you get the dry guitar signal into Reaper for later re-amping using the HD500X.
  23. Here's an important (in this context) comment in the Helix Rack and Control manual, specifically re: the rear panel I/O on th Control device: USB Reserved for potential future use. In other words, the USB jack on the Control device currently does nothing. All the USB features live in the Helix Rack component.
  24. The CAT5 cable powers Helix Control from the Helix Rack device. The USB connection is from the Helix Rack (not Control) device; use it exactly as you used it from the Helix Floor device. There should be no change to functionality.
  25. Deregistration by the previous owner won't matter. What matters is whether or not he/she bought Helix Native at a discounted price based on ownership of the Helix. If so, that particular Helix, based on serial number, will no longer be eligible for the discount.
