All I'm saying is that they can sound different - I don't try to explain it.

It will be OK but I would advise that you restart Helix immediately after loading the old patches, before starting to edit or even play with any of them. This will force a rebuild of the presets to ensure that they are properly converted.

Line 6: comment/bug in the Downloads section’s search engine
silverhead replied to LutherDeLorme's topic in Helix
Interesting, because the Line 6 Updater v1.12 lists its compatible products - and Helix LT is not among them. That doesn't seem like a coincidence. Perhaps there's actually some incompatibility between Updater v1.12 and Helix LT, which would make the behaviour we see the correct behaviour. The other alternative is, as you suggest, there's an error in the list of compatible products and the LT should be included in Updater v1.12. In that case it's probably a simpler issue for Line 6 to resolve because it's not a bug in the search engine - just a simple omission in the search dataset. I think it's worth a support ticket - maybe you could open one and let us know what Line 6 says about it? -
Yes, the same models with the same settings do sound different because the underlying modeling technology is different.

When you connect Helix to your computer via USB the Helix device will usually automatically become your computer's soundcard. If this is not automatic you will have to manually change your computer's audio settings to use the Helix device rather than its internal soundcard. After doing so the audio playback from your computer will be directed to Helix where you will hear it through the headphones.

Brand New JTV-59 arrives Defective, No Exchange offered
silverhead replied to markbarron416's topic in Line 6 Lounge
Where/how did you purchase it? If a retailer, will they exchange it? -
You don't need to download the Models They are already embedded in the firmware. What you need to do is activate them by running the Line 6 License manager while logged into your Line 6 account with your POD HD connected to your computer.

There are two basic things that distinguish snapshots from multiple presets: 1) Different presets can contain arbitrary combinations of different amps and fx blocks in any given order in the signal chain. Snapshots operate within a single preset, meaning that you cannot change the selection of the models themselves nor their relative positions in the signal chain. You can, however, change any amp/fx model's bypass (on/off) state and change up to 64 of their combined parameter values - all with a single footswitch. 2) Snapshots provide instantaneous switching of multiple block bypass states and parameter values without the need to reload working memory with different amp/fx models. This means there is no lag (audio dropout) when switching snapshots as there inevitably is when switching presets.
-
That's correct - the devices have different sets of amp/fx models. I haven't done a detailed comparison but I think there's a lot of overlap as well as lots of differences. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/amplifiers/ampl/amplififulllistofampsandeffects#en https://line6.com/data/6/0a06434c087052430f5d6523b/application/pdf/POD%20HD%20Series%20Model%20Gallery%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20E%20).pdf Note that these docs may be somewhat out of date. For instance, I don't think the Pod HD gallery includes the POD HD amp model packs. All the up to date information is available but you may have to search for it and put it all together yourself if you need complete accuracy.

What happened to Native forum ?
silverhead replied to rsvette12's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
Oops.... my mistake. Thanks for the correction. Guess I didn't do my homework this time. There has been a website issue affecting the forums for the last couple of days. Line 6 is aware and working on it. Meantime, clearing your browser cache and Line 6 cookies usually fixes things at last temporarily. -
Yes, I've seen weird behaviour like that too. Line 6 is aware and working on it. Meantime clearing cache and Line 6 cookies usually (but not always in my experience) resolves it at least temporarily.

What happened to Native forum ?
silverhead replied to rsvette12's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
There is no separate Helix Native forum just like there is no separate HX Edit forum, or a separate forum for the Helix Floor, Rack, and LT products. Any or all of those separate forums could be created but I think the feeling at Line 6 is that all of those products are so similar that users of any one of them are potentially affected by or interested in any comments or issues with any other of them. Certainly all of these products now share a vary large code base so that a bug in any one is likely to exist in the others, and a usage tip for one may well apply to all. EDIT: My mistake - there is a specific Helix Native forum. See below. Thanks to rsvette12 for the correction. -
Tuning my guitar is more than enough delay and distraction for me, band members, and the audience while on stage.

... and you will find the HX Edit program in the Software (middle) field on the Downloads page.

Looking for Helix hardware factory patches for Native
silverhead replied to jesuscares's topic in Helix Native
So I did a quick check of preset names and I didn't see any differences between the factory presets in Helix v2.50 and Helix Native v1.50. I only checked two presets, both in Factory 1. I know that presets 28A and 32A changed in Helix v2.50 from Helix v2.30, and the same new presets appear in Helix Native 1.50. I haven't done a detailed comparison of every preset in both factory setlists but I think you can be about 99% sure that you are not missing anything. -

I don't see why they would be different, and I don't think they are. Why do you think they are? -
Is HxNative getting a bug fix like Firmware 2.52?
silverhead replied to Lachdanan0121's topic in Helix Native
I expect there will be no associated update for Helix Native. My reasoning is that v2.52 firmware was released, then pulled temporarily due to unexpected (and serious) issues for a few users. These issues were reported by Line 6 as being confined to the Line 6 Updater program so will not affect Helix Native. Since there was no Helix Native release when v2.52 was released I don't anticipate one now. -
Looking for Helix hardware factory patches for Native
silverhead replied to jesuscares's topic in Helix Native
I think I see the problem. You are trying to import a setlist file (*.hls) when Helix Native is expecting a preset file (*.hlx). On page 15 of the Helix Native manual you can find out about restoring the factory setlists / presets. -
Helix presets are compatible with Helix Native. You should be able to import any Helix preset into Helix Native. Please describe exactly what procedure you are using and where/how the import is failing. Edit: I have seen your similar post in another thread. You can restore the factory setlists from within Helix Native (see page 15 of the Helix Native manual).

JTV 59 won't connect to workbench HD
silverhead replied to stevenah's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I'm not familiar with the Mac world but I know that on Windows you would need to install the Line 6 driver. Is there a corresponding Mac component you need? -
I think it's helpful to distinguish between two different 'sound libraries'. The most important library is the set of amp/fx models that is built into the firmware. Historically this set is only added to in new firmware updates. Existing models have never been removed as new models are added although sometimes an existing model may be tweaked for improvement. The second library is the set of factory presets. These are examples of how the first sound library can be used (combined, mixed and matched) to create different sounds. Individual factory presets are sometimes added while others are completely removed and/or replaced in a new firmware update.

Input block is on the left; output on the right.

Are you perhaps confusing UNDO with Erase? The UNDO function only operates on overdubs, not the original pass of the the recorded loop. If you want to completely erase a loop (undo the original pass of the recording) you need to record a new silent loop, or power cycle the device.
