m20d L6 link connection with Helix and PA system
silverhead replied to ShredRex's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
Yes I do have one L3s and have used it occasionally. I leave it at home when going to small venues but I have used it in larger halls and outdoors where it was very helpful. -
Cakewalk By BandLab’ is here. Free. Available for Windows now. [4/4/2018]
silverhead replied to mileskb's topic in Helix
At one time I owned a Cakewalk product called Music Creator 6 and I have numerous recordings in that program. Anyone know if those files would be compatible with this new Cakewalk by BandLab? -
m20d L6 link connection with Helix and PA system
silverhead replied to ShredRex's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I use L6 Link to run my Helix direct to my 2xL3t speaker setup when I'm just playing/practicing guitar by myself. But when I'm playing with other people I use the M20d for all instrument/mic inputs, including my Helix using either 1/4" or XLR outs to the M2od, and run L6 Link from the M20d to the Stagesource speakers. -
In firmware v2.5x there is a new category of reverbs called Legacy. Have you tried those?

Can we use Line 6 Spider V 30 with an acoustic guitar?
silverhead replied to Bonzoso's topic in Spider V
No. -
You can drag/drop them individually or as a sequential set from a folder on your computer into the IR slots in HX Edit. You are limited to 128 at a time in HX Edit.

Can we use Line 6 Spider V 30 with an acoustic guitar?
silverhead replied to Bonzoso's topic in Spider V
Yes you can but you may not be happy with the result. An acoustic guitar has a much wider dynamic range than an electric guitar. An electric guitar amp like the Spider amp is designed for the narrower range of frequencies; it does not handle the higher end and overtones of an acoustic guitar very well. -
Why is Variax + Helix changing to the wrong models in snap shots?
silverhead replied to MarkJarvis's topic in Helix
I just want to confirm, because neither of you mention it........ you are using Variax guitars of the JTV or later vintage( Standard, Shuriken), right? Older model Variax guitars are not supported in Helix. -
Why is Variax + Helix changing to the wrong models in snap shots?
silverhead replied to MarkJarvis's topic in Helix
Just to be sure I have just performed all of the above steps/actions on a New Preset. I did the procedures twice - once using the device itself (HX Edit program not running) and again using the editor. I played with the Tone knob as suggested and checked the LCD display appropriately. My Snapshots Edits parameter is set to Recall. Everything behaves properly in both situations - using the device and using the editor. I find no problems so I think it must be something with your preset(s). Can you attach or point me to a Customtone preset that demonstrates your problem? I'd like to analyze it. I am running Helix firmware v2.54 and HX Edit v2.52. My JTV-59 is running firmware v2.10; I did not install the latest Variax firmware v2.22 because it applies only to Variax Shuriken guitars and has no impact on JTV-59s. -
Why is Variax + Helix changing to the wrong models in snap shots?
silverhead replied to MarkJarvis's topic in Helix
So it's a problem with a specific preset, not all presets? Can you attach your preset here (or upload it to customtone and provide a link) and let me/us test it on our devices? -
Why is Variax + Helix changing to the wrong models in snap shots?
silverhead replied to MarkJarvis's topic in Helix
Not sure about that. I expect LOTS more people would be reporting this if it were a bug. This is not happening to me. It's possible that there's something unique in your presets that is causing this. Try copying a factory preset to a new location and editing it only with respect to the Variax Model selections in Snapshots. If there's still a problem please describe exactly what steps you took so that we can try to reproduce the problem and confirm a bug. -
Why is Variax + Helix changing to the wrong models in snap shots?
silverhead replied to MarkJarvis's topic in Helix
Hmmm.... that suggests an issue with the VDI cable or the Variax firmware. I'd start by testing a different cable (a standard RJ-45 cable will do for a one-time test; don't keep using it) and if that is not the issue I would reinstall the JTV firmware. Use Workbench HD to backup any custom model presets first. -
I may completely misunderstand the modeling process, or misunderstand your question, but.... How do you attempt to model/simulate the sound of a speaker without somehow capturing the sound coming from the speaker? Without a mic, how do you capture the sound? Humans capture sound with ears. Audio equipment (including computers) capture sounds with a mic. No mic -> no sound to provide the target for your modeling. The 'amp in the room' sound comes from your ears hearing an actual amp in the room. A modeled sound is based on the sound from a mic placed in some position near the amp's speaker.

AUDIO problems over USB
silverhead replied to FunkyMan66's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
Here's a snip from the manual that may be relevant: Note that the type of audio signal fed to the Record Sends is controlled by the Output Mode setting found in the POD HD500 Setup:Outputs screen. For most USB recording situations, you’ll likely want to set this to “Studio/Direct.” Please see “Page 4, Setup: Output Options” on page 2•8 for more info. -
Why is Variax + Helix changing to the wrong models in snap shots?
silverhead replied to MarkJarvis's topic in Helix
Is it possible that, before leaving Snapshot 3, you had manually changed the Variax model to Acoustic-5? If so, and if your Snapshot mode parameter is set to Recall (rather than Discard) the model change you made manually will be retained in Snapshot 3 when you return to it. -
Stagesource vs. Powercab
silverhead replied to JLondon's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I don't think this can be answered until there are enough users who have experienced both setups and can compare them. Even if there are manufacturer specs on this point the actual sounds will need to be compared and the question decided by users. Personally, I would expect the two setups to sound different. First off, the PowerCab has a 12" speaker compared to the Stagesource 10". Also the Stagesource applies different EQ settings to implement its different speaker modes. I think it's unlikely that Line 6 designed the PowerCab to exactly match the Stagesource Electric Guitar speaker mode EQ. -
Setting for Variax Limited in HD Edit
silverhead replied to Scaryfast's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
The JTV selection in HD Edit also controls the Variax Standard and Shuriken models. The dual tone symptom you describe is a separate issue. Please provide more info about that. -

Check your recording program and make sure that the audio setup is configured to use the HD500X and its ASIO driver. -
Stagescape M20D help
silverhead replied to Canuti's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
For Live Use.... yes you can do it all with the M20d. The manual (available online under the Support - Technical Support path at the top of this page) describes all the available preset types and the specific FX in each. For Home studio use..... Unfortunately the M20d is not a practical audio interface to a DAW except to capture the initial recording of the dry tracks. You can record the initial performance in your DAW just as you can directly on the M20d via usb/sd. However you cannot use the M20d to overdub, add additional tracks, or edit the FX on the recording. The latency is just too high - the M20d is designed primarily for live use, not for studio recording.- 4 replies

Is there a detailed description for the new reverbs somewhere?
silverhead replied to revolver1010's topic in Helix
... or buy a boxed wine, which makes it a cardboardeaux, and that must be good. -
The hxf filetype is a firmware file. You need to run Line 6 Updater to install it 'Direct From File' to update your Helix firmware to v2.54.

I keep the speaker levels notched in the middle and vary the mixer output level to suit the room. If I do the gain staging properly in the mixer (channel input trim and levels) this method has always been OK for me.

There's a section in the manual that describes the Reset options. https://line6.com/data/6/0a064339bb54553678e8d3852/application/pdf/Variax Standard Pilot's Guide - English ( Rev A ).pdf
