  1. Make sure that you have configured Audacity to use the Pod X3 ASIO driver, not the default ASIO4ALL.
  2. I actually think the term 'public beta' is an oxymoron. If it's not already a quite robust piece of software then imho it's not ready for public release at all. And if it is already a quite robust piece of software that's ready for any kind of public release then is it really still a beta? Does a release finally only become non-beta when it is 100% bug free? Is a company using its customer base as public beta testers as long as bugs continue to be found? Where do you draw the line with the terminology? After a certain point it's just semantics. The 'beta' v2.1 that is now 'soaking' is a very stable set of firmware and editor. Is it completely bug-free? Almost certainly not, though I haven't found any new bugs. If a new bug (or even a few) is/are found after public release, does that mean it's still somehow a beta release? Depends on how you define beta I guess. I think Line 6 thinks it's ready to go public, pending something unforeseen in the next few days. It will be released 'soon', and whether or not anyone considers it a beta release I guess is up to them based on their own definition of beta. So those who would like to feel included in a public beta, you can feel that way if you wish - especially if you find and report a new bug!
  3. It's a standard USB printer cable with a square-ish connector at the device end.
  4. Hmmm...The SEND operation should save them on the POD device. If that's not happening there may be something wrong with the USB connection although it seems to be operating fine otherwise. Try manually saving the presets using the SAVE button on the device after using the SEND operation in the editor.
  5. Make sure you have the UX2 input set to MIC in Pod Farm (the mixer page, I think).
  6. I didn't say that. I said it's not the place to communicate directly with Line 6, nor to suggest that you don't want to hear from some users. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and to express themselves and their wishes. But the way in which those wishes are expressed is important and greatly affects the tone of the subsequent discussion. The opening post in this thread was intentionally inflammatory and the response was in kind.
  7. No, the Pod HD Desktop (Bean) has no MIDI connections and there is no MIDI-over-USB implementation, at least none described in the manuals. Gearbox is not compatible with the Pod HD. The editor/librarian program for the Bean is called HD Edit.
  8. Absolutely right. This is a customer support forum. Customer. Support. Not really intended for Line 6 policy discussions although a lot of that happens here, usually politely when expressed that way in the opening. I think what triggered a negative response in this case is that the OP ignored the nature of this forum in his opening statements, indicating that he only wanted to hear from Line 6 / Yamaha, or from other users who shared his opinion. The rest of us were called the peanut gallery. That's just not how a user support forum works, nor a good way for the OP to get the sort of response he wanted. His opening comments and overall tone ensured that he heard exclusively from those he offended. He didn't just express his views - he insulted regular forum users. And he knew he was doing so . Why else the 'With all due respect....' opening? The result was entirely predictable. He didn't need or want any technical support. He wanted answers from Line 6 to very specific non-technical questions. This isn't the place for that. There's a Contact Us button at the bottom of every page for that.
  9. And as far as I can tell the audience for your point (whatever it is) is exactly one person - yourself. Congratulations.
  10. Glad to hear it. Enjoy the FH 1500!
  11. Check out the MIDI capabilities as described in both the HD500 and Helix manuals.
  12. Yes I can tell you. The answer is no. EDIT: Sorry for my misinformation. I was thinking only about plug'n'play control. You can program the HD500 using MIDI to control some aspects of Helix, as phil_m points out below.
  13. A moderator is required to review and approve the first post of every new user. From now on you will have no problem having your posts visible immediately. This is just a final gate in the process, beyond the existing spam filters.
  14. If you just want the editor program on a second computer you don't need to install the Line 6 Updater. You just need to download the Helix software installer (not the firmware file) then run the installer and select the driver and the editor for installation.
  15. Try updating using a computer and the Line 6 Updater program.
  16. Yes the inputs are recorded dry, before any FX. The Main Mix is recorded post channel faders but pre Master Volume. As Rewolf48 suggests, increase the level of each channel if you want to increase the overall recorded level of the Main Mix.
  17. I own and play both Firehawk FX and Helix. Helix is far, far better in all respects: tones, routing flexibility, I/O, audio interface, ease of use and editing. Only you can decide whether it's worth the money. If you are really big on editing with your smartphone or tablet, be aware that Helix does not support that - Helix editing is done on PC/Mac only.
  18. In the Downloads area select Helix in the Software, not Product, field. That is the editor program installer file. It also includes the driver and the Line 6 Updater program. After installing these components you run the Updater program to install the firmware. But I'd wait until tomorrow when new firmware/software is expected to be released.
  19. You need to connect your speakers to the UX2. Your computer speakers are bypassed when the UX2 is connected. The UX2 becomes your soundcard for both input and output.
  20. Great to hear! Thanks for reporting back. This thread may be helpful to others in future.
  21. Guess it depends on whether you're mostly a studio player or a gigging player. If the latter, buying a Variax actually makes a whole lot of sense (unless you have roadies, I guess).
  22. Have you downloaded the appropriate Line 6 Driver to your new computer? Run Line 6 Monkey to get the driver and Pod Farm. If you stepped only on the cable it shouldn't be a problem, But if you stepped on either end of the cable you may have damaged the end connector which could be a problem In that case I would try a new cable before replacing the UX1. If nothing works, open a support ticket with Line 6.
  23. Not sure I understand exactly what long-winded process you want to avoid, but you can drag/drop individual patches from a file folder on your computer to any slot in the HD Edit program window.
