  1. Why not? I think they have exactly the same features with regards to Delay effects and Looper. Actually the POD Looper compared to the DL4 offers more: up to 24 seconds recording time (48 seconds at half speed).. the DL4: up to 14 seconds recording time (28 seconds at half speed). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  2. Hi, I'm still using the "dinosaur" and I play also jazz, but nothig similar to the Bill Frisell style, and honestly I haven't tried much to find types of sound similar to the ones in the video clip. But what I know is that all the delay models which are in the DL4 are also in the HD500 (with the advantage in the POD of having an expression pedal already incorporated), so unless you need to use a smaller unit I wouldn't suggest to buy the DL4. Moreover, based on what I hear in the video clip I would say that with the POD it should be possible to get those sound effects (time/pitch change, loop reversal kind of stuff) quite easily. The tools are there if you want to use them. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  3. Maybe he can unregister a device S/N but AFAIK to de-authorize the model packs from it he needs to have that device with him connected to his computer. So I guess that until there is around somewhere 1 POD with the model pack still authorized by a certain license number, the license owner can authorize up to 3 remaining devices according to my calculations, but I could be wrong for reasons I don't know yet. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  4. Probably was me. My HD500 shows that that the USB firmware is v0.00 until I connect it to the computer, after which it finally shows the correct version, and continues to do so even if I disconnect it. As soon as I turn on the POD without connecting it, the shown USB version returns to zero. My device works fine. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  5. Look! .. it seems exactly what happened to you: here is the old thread where the above pic comes from and where the issue has been discussed: https://line6.com/support/topic/18562-variax-700-no-output-from-digital-and-14/ it would seem that the possible cause of the problem may have been having the batteries connected while also connected with the VDI... ..or touching the battery to the connector backwards _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  6. With 1 license you can authorize up to 4 devices registered into your Line6 account. Therefore if you still own the license you can authorize other 3 devices. everything is explained here: https://l6c-acdn2.line6.net/data/6/0a020a3f163135da4e95e1ebd8/application/pdf/POD HD Complete _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  7. Audacity in this case is not needed . Use the Zoom audio settings and choose the POD as the audio interface.. For the guitar and voice you need to create a patch where each path is separate and independent, one path dedicated to the guitar, and the other to the mic. The mp3 playback should work with any media player set to use the POD as audio interface, I'not sure if you have to enable or not the sharing of the media player window (or your desktop) in order to make the remote listener hearing what you are hearing. Tip: For monitoring in such scenario you shouldn't never use external speakers, but only headphones. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  8. There are not ready made presets, you can find the new models listed between all the other amp models when you build/edit a preset. the bass amps and their corresponding models are: Ampeg SVT Normal Ch. = SVT NRM Ampeg SVT Bright Ch. = SVT BRT GK Gallien-Kruger 800RB = G COUGAR 800 the bass cabs are: Ampeg SVT 8x10 = 810 SV BEAST Ampeg SVT 410HLF = 410 RHINO _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  9. yes, but in the above configuration you wouldn't have the effects, if it matters to you.. wasn't that the reason why you initially thought about integrating a multi-fx modeler with the Victory? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  10. No, you wouldn't.. All the Helix series products have separate/independent cabs which can also load external impulse responses _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  11. You're welcome. Unfortunately with the POD to use its cab modeling you have to activate also an amp or preamp model (I forgot to also consider this important point in my previous post). In this case I would suggest to choose the most flat response pre-amp available in the POD in order to affect the least possible the tone of your external pre-amp. Usually the bass pre-amps (a bit similar to PA preamps) are much more flat response than the ones for guitar, so I guess that the one called Flip Top Pre could be a candidate as an almost transparent pre-amp, which you can combine with any of the available cabs for guitar. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  12. the problem is that unfortunately the "cure" itself is sometimes the origin of the problem if it does not happen 100% correctly in which case not always there would be notifications. it is also important to do a global reset and a pedal calibration after each firmware re-installation, just to avoid strange and unexpected device behaviors. https://line6.com/support/page/kb/pod/pod-hd500-hd500x/after-pod-hd500x500-flashre-flashupdate-mandatory-global-settings-reset33-r160/ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  13. Moving a preset from a setlist to the one currently in use in the same slot would require at least 7 different actions in sequence on the device using different buttons and knobs. It is also difficult to hypothesize that it may be due to a worn SAVE button that triggers its function by itself, because even if it was, it would not be enough by itself to make a move from setlist to setlist. Maybe something strange happened in the interaction between the POD and the DT amp connected via Line6 link. What to say? When the problems remain shrouded in mystery, the cure for several ills (if it works) always remains the same here (a bit like aspirin in the old days): save your presets to your computer re-install the firmware do a global reset do a pedal calibration upload your previouly saved presets back to your device _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  14. if it had been connected to the computer maybe some remote explanation would have been possible .. Frankly I think it is impossible that the POD can do by itself what you have described, but you never know .. sure it wasn't a friend's joke? .. even the choice of that specific preset 'Middle Pups' which sounds funny in German as you said doesn't seem so random .. maybe it happened during a break while you went to pee LOL _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  15. need more details about your configuration: what is it connected to? is it a playback or recording problem or both? what kind of programs are you using? are they using the Line6 ASIO driver or something else? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  16. When you connect an external preamp to the RETURN input of a real amp, what you do is bypass the amp's preamp to connect the external preamp directly to the power-amp of the amp that drives the cab. The (real or modeled) power-amp is a component that (like the pre-amp and the cab) also contributes significantly to the final sound. The 4 cable method with the POD and an external pre-amp (placed in the POD FX LOOP) cannot be done because there is not a power-amp RETURN input to which to connect the 4th cable (coming from the POD output). So what you can do is a 3 cable method: guitar to POD, POD SEND to preamp, preamp OUT to POD RETURN. In doing so, the only element in the chain that is missing is the power-amp, so basically you have: preamp going directly to cab, with the possibility of adding effects before and after the preamp. If the preamp is already sufficient to give a complete sound once connected to the cab (modeled in this case), you can do without the power-amp. Actually there are several POD users who build their patches using pre-amp versions of the available amp models, because for certain sounds they prefer them to the full models. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

What's wrong with the tone of the HD500/X, and in particular with the clean tone that is what the OP is primarily interested in? There are not many doubts that it is more realistic than that of the XT, especially for the dynamic response. With about $ 200 for a used HD500/X he can have his more realistic clean tones and much else. If we want to talk instead only about top quality amp modeling, given that the OP put an expense of 200 dollars as a limit, and that even a software amp sim would be fine, I recommended S-Gear as a top class amp modeler (that is what it is), which as regards clean and semi distorted sounds has nothing to envy to an Axe Fx or Kemper, and costs less than $ 200. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  19. Yes, via MIDI.. just 1 MIDI cable needed.. every time you select a patch on the HD500X it sends automatically the corresponding program change to a connect by MIDI device.. moreover, if the patches in the HD500X are opportunely MIDI programmed the footswitches and expression pedal can be used to control the FXs on the connected device. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  20. Hi Antonio, if you had posted your questions in the forum specifically dedicated to the HD series you would have already received some answers. First check that the USB port of the POD is not broken, if it is good it looks like this (with the rectangle in the middle), if it is broken it looks like this .. If the USB port (and perhaps also the internal USB chip cotroller) is broken, it must be replaced, without it the connection with the computer is not possible. The complete reset of the device is done by installing the firmware (for which a working USB is required, there is no other way around) and the subsequent Global Reset procedure (which initializes all the global settings to the factory default values). Consider also that if you use a Mac or Windows 10 pc there may be some difficulties in installing correctly the driver that is necessary for the recognition of the device, if this is the case I suggest to do some research about your OS in this forum to find the solution. In any case if when you connect the POD, the computer does not show any signs (sounds and/or notifications of some type) it means that either the USB cable or the USB port of the POD are broken. Generally it would be better not to use the computer's USB 3 ports with the POD, USB 2.0 is perfectly fine. USB hubs should also be avoided. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

I knew it mr brown.. mine was not a direct reply to the OP but it was more of a comment to the previous post where the guy said that he switched from HD to POD GO for his valid reasons .. my post simply shows a different point of view of someone like me who wants also certain HD500/X features very difficult to find in other devices in the same price range new like the POD GO and others .. therefore IMO it might be useful for those who are trying to evaluate all the pros and cons of some devices before deciding which one to buy, and since among the candidates for the purchase there is also the used HD500/X otherwise the OP probably would not have asked his question in this specific forum, my post does not seem out of place. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  22. Have you already tried to insert the s/n without parenthesis? If it doesn't work, open a support ticket to speak directly with the Line6 official support guys. https://line6.com/support/tickets/ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  23. Ok,... so...let me understand... Your POD doesn't produce any sound, or are your previously saved presets missing from the device? If the problem is the missing presets, maybe you did something wrong. Given that you did a firmware reinstalling, what you should ideally have done for the complete procedure is: 1) save your bundle of presets on your computer 2) reinstall the firmware 3) global reset 4) pedal calibration 5) load your previously saved bundle through the Editor 6) Use the SEND ALL command in the Editor to upload all your presets into your device is this what you did?.. or you missed something? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

The POD GO certainly has some appealing features but compared to the HD500/X it lacks others which are important to me and which are some of the reasons why I chose the HD500 years ago.. HD500/X features missing in the POD GO: - full flexibility (FX placement) - 2 independent chains (amp models) - MIC input with its preamp - dedicated AUX input (not integrated in the FX LOOP) - VDI socket to power and directly connect the Variax that I often use From my point of view at the moment the only worthy successor/replacement of the HD500/X could be the Helix LT if it didn't cost new about twice the price of an HD500X, which still remains a good quality modeler multi-fx. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  25. After reinstalling the firmware you should always do a global reset and finally a pedal calibration to avoid malfunctions. https://line6.com/support/page/kb/pod/pod-hd500-hd500x/after-pod-hd500x500-flashre-flashupdate-mandatory-global-settings-reset33-r160/ It is not clear what you mean by "bundled patched" but if it is a set of presets and setlists, check that the inputs of the presets are set to use the Variax signal. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
