Well the both the DXR10 and DXR12 are rated 700 watts RMS. Shouldn't that give the 100 watt Marshall some kind of competition? https://www.crutchfield.com/S-o0UP2Q2IiDx/compare_845DXR10_845DXR12/Yamaha-DXR10-vs-Yamaha-DXR12.html?XVINQ=DST&XVVER=Z01&awcp=1t1&awcr=163714929590&awdv=c&awkw=&awmt=b&awnw=g&awug=9033327

I forgot about the Octoverb. Another good verb for pad sounds. Put it parallel in place of or as well as the Particle reverb.

I thought the Line 6 pack was a bit snug at first, but really, it's just that it fits perfectly.

When will we see new models and firmware for helix??
brue58ski replied to MarkJarvis's topic in Helix
We can at least console ourselves that until we see version 3.00, they haven't stopped improving the Helix. And it doesn't necessarily mean that would be the end either. I do feel like even if they were to end now, I got the minimum of what I wanted and anymore is gravy just to me. There are things I hope will happen (lusher reverb anyone) but am happy already with what I paid for. Just my opinion. I know others will disagree and I don't feel it's a character flaw if they do. -
I will say this. I do not EVER remember Line 6 taking something like this away. If they said owners of this will get this if they have this for this amount, it has stayed that way. I guess I could be wrong, but I don't remember it happening.

I have the Helix backpack and it does seem well made but I am worried about the quality of the zippers. So far (about 7 months using it once a week) they are lasting.

This is a pad I use. Guitar tone knob almost all the way down - Vol pedal - Clean amp - a big Reverb with mix at 100%. I then also use the particle verb after the amp in parallel and mix with it's volume to taste. Swell in with volume pedal. Main trick is tone knob down and Reverb mix at 100%.

I would like the blocks to be specific as to what effect/amp is being used instead of just an icon showing what type of effect it is. The only way to tell now is to select the block and look at the bottom of the screen. I just submitted it to Ideascale. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/idea-v2/905552

I absolutely agree with this but I do think the audience notices if the sound they're expecting for a certain cover song isn't at least similar. As an example, hearing the Iron Man intro played with a Stevie Ray Vaughn, Love Struck Baby tone will be noticed by people who know the song. But that's whats so great about the Helix. You can quickly get kind of close to a songs tone and that's close enough for your average audience. No need to spend hours on a tone.

Any confirmation of release date for Helix Native?
brue58ski replied to GazzaBloom's topic in Helix Native
Go here. http://line6.com/support/topic/25217-helix-native/page-14 Go to post #538 which says...... Wednesday, 16. August, 2017 5:00am PDT In case you don't know Digital Igloo works for Line6. -
In general, if you are setup for stereo, going out only one of the channels (mono) will mean you will lose the audio on one channel. Using a truly stereo delay like the Ping Pong, if you're patch is setup for stereo, and only using one of the outputs, you will lose one of the repeats. Having said that, I if you plug only into the 1/4" left/mono, it will sum (combine) the stereo signal to mono so you won't lose anything. The XLR's will do the same thing. It may change the sound though due to phase/frequency cancellation. I think this is what they are talking about.

It's not Nintendo but........

I went back to look at this post thanks to RZUMWALT, and DID do a spit take. I really needed that. It's been a long week.

Let's start with I know nothing. But as I recall, there are posts that state that the difference in fidelity, in regard to IR data high or low numbers, when used in the Helix, is negligible. Some hear a difference, but it's so close, it's worth going to the lower values, if you need more memory for your specific patch. I'm not sure if this will help you but hope it does.

WorkBench HD UpDate?
brue58ski replied to musicimpossible's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
A guess would be that they aren't doing anything R&D wise with the Variax in a major manner. I suppose they may be doing something but they seem to be focused on the Helix and Helix Native. I base this partly on the lack of popularity of the Variax. I am just now wondering why they don't repackage the old Variax technology at a low price which I think is a big reason why people don't get into the Variax. Whatever model you get, if you subtract what the "computer" in the Variax costs, that's the amount you would probably pay for a normal guitar. The price I last remember being quoted is about $700. Would the old Varaix technology be half that? Could you then put it in a cheap guitar making it a $500-$600 guitar? I think it would attract more people to this techonology. Over $1000 dollar is a lot of money to spend on techonology that seems like no one is sure of. $600 or lower? I think a lot more people would try it. Just a thought in case any L6 people are listening. This is all, of course, speculation and not based on any actual data or anything mentioned officially by Line 6. -
Yes the Helix will run them with the VDI but there is limited functionality as you suspected. This was posted about a year ago and I believe is still current. Officially it is unsupported but communication actually works in one direction - from Helix to Variax. You can use the Helix controls to store/save/recall Variax models in the Helix preset and it behaves as desired. However, communication from Variax to Helix does not work. So for instance if you switch the model using your Variax controls the change will not be reflected in the Helix preset and the Helix Variax page display turns to gibberish. I don't think it will send tunings to the old Variax either.

Basic Steps to Select Models and ATs
brue58ski replied to traphillman's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Listen to the Spider before you buy it. Forget the HD500 given your experience. They can be made to sound good but require a lot of tweaking. The Helix's sound great, they both sound the same, and their patches are interchangeable. The Helix has a lot more options than the Helix LT so based on your original post, I would recommend the LT. The Helixes are relatively easy to program. They are definitely the easiest of any of the modelers then or now to program. And I've used a few.- 21 replies

So, the Variax standard is the lowest price Variax at $800. If you want a Fender style get one made in Mexico (it says where it was made on the headstock) or a Squier. If you want a Gibson type guitar get an Epiphone. Ibanez has a bunch of well made low price electrics as well. Now of course, if you go used, they will be even cheaper. The first generation of Variaxes is one way to go BUT they're functionality with the latest Line 6 modelers is limited. A used 1st generation Variax with a used Line 6 Pod X3 should keep you happy for awhile. This is just a start. Really need more info as far as what you're intentions are. Ya just hanging out in your bedroom jamming to the radio, actually gigging or somewhere in between? A Variax standard with a POD HD500 would be the cheapest way to go getting new stuff and still have Line 6's latest and greatest. That would be about $1300. But really research this. The HD500 requires a lot of tweaking to get decent tones out of.

2 Topics: Copy/paste blocks and Solo performances
brue58ski replied to themetallikid's topic in Helix
I have never encountered this phenomenon. And I copy and paste blocks a lot. I wonder what the issue is. I'm using Windows 7. Could it have something to do with an issue with other operating systems? Windows 10, Mac? I can't think of anything else. It's obviously happening so I wonder what's so special about what I'm using. It's just an old off the shelf computer.
