Great Tip!! Another Tip & Trick deserved of special mention in the next Helix User Guide PDF.

This method works well with the Line 6 backpack as well!

Before adding a pair of Yamaha DXR10 to use with the Helix, I was using my Fender Mustang Amps. I've have the IV v.2 and III v.2. Both have FX Returns and may be configured to be run as powered cabs such that the Mustangs' Amp profiles, FX, and Cab Sims may be bypassed, if desired. The Mustangs have very good Celestion speakers, 2x12 and 1x12, respectively. I feel they do a very good job with the Helix for electric guitar. However, the respective Celestion speakers roll off dramatically above 4kHz, so any other material, instruments, and upper harmonic electric guitar content are vastly attenuated. I still use them with the Helix when I want to move more air than what the two Yamaha DXR10 can accomplish. And when I run W/D/W.

Many Office Supply and Home Improvement stores carry flexible moulded floor wire covering in various segment lengths. You can also find this stuff on line. Google "floor wire covering" and you'll get multiple hits and images. These have multiple channels molded in the core and easily accomodate several cable runs. The material is very inexpensive, and sold in various colors. Buy a 6 or 10 foot segment and cut it in to accomodate multiple runs. I've been using this stuff for years and it is incredibly durable! I vastly prefer the slighty wider yet flatter roof-top style cross cut design, rather than the rounded cross cut design.

Cool! And, thanks for being forthright to update the situation. Just about everyone has had some kind of similar hiccup at some point. Hope the latest firmware resolves the dropout issues you may be having. Do be sure to allow the Transmitter and Receiver base to pair whilst any other RFI sources are active. This will allow the Receiver to bypass noisy channels and select the best from the available 14.

An FX Send Block placed at the end of your Signal Path (prior to the Output Block) would provide a means to route an 1/4" FX Send Signal (at Line or Mic Level as set in Global Settings), and use the FX Send Block's Level parameter to control the signal level sent to your JBL Monitor via the FX Send's 1/4" jack. This FX Send feed would not be affected by the Main Volume Knob. Have not tried the following. The thought is to insert a Split Block late in the Signal Path to allow the FX Send Block to be in a parallel path without merging this back to the original path. Doing so may also allow you to insert a Gain Block before the FX Send Block to more easily set and control the level sent via the FX Send Block. Others with more experience are encouraged to comment about the above.

DI thanks for renaming and explicitly including the date and vers. in the "Latest Helix Firmware...) thread. Obviously, the Forums are such that a Thread's original posting date persists. It has always struck me oddly that Line 6 opted to multi post successive firmware updates to the same ever growing original thread, rather than simply generating a new pinned thread for each new firmware update (and pasting into it the predecessor content, if desired) and allowing the older threads to flow accordingly. It would not surprise me that this has confused numerous Helix owners.

Any chance the VL3's Phantom Power is enabled?

The Ring on the G10 Transmitter is used for Charging when seated in the G10 Reciever Base. Your best bet may be using a TRS Male 1/4" Y-Cable to Mono 1/4" TS Female to split the Left and Right signals from your guitar's jack. Once you determine the pickup feed you want to use, connect the G10 to that. Also bear in mind that with some active piezo pickups their ground wiring may need to be reversed to overcome a high pitched squeal from the G10.
-
Two things you can try. 1) As you switch to the other neck, deliberately Tap/Thump the strings above the pickup as you make the transition. This will reactivate the G10 Transmitter for that output. The reawakening Tap/Thump will not be heard. A moment later you will be good to go. 2) Leave the Volume Pot for the 2nd G10 open, just enough for a low level sympathetic signal to prevent the G10 from entering Sleep Mode. You'll may have to find the sweet spot such that that low signal will not be heard by your amp. If you are using an A/B switch for the different Guitars, then simply leave the guitar Pot wide open.

There are plenty of examples on YouTube of HELIX Floor being used on a Desk, resting atop an Amp, or on a repurposed Amp Stand, etc. I have a buddy who uses his on a heavy duty music stand, and got the Mission Expression Pedal, he even loosened the treadle's pivot bolt to be able to use it with his hand if desired. Using the HELIX floor within arms reach (elevated) also affords quick access and use of the multiple capactive touch fsw buttons! And, should you want to use it on the floor, the treadle is built in. The HELIX Controller for the HELIX Rack also has the capacitance touch fsw buttons. As it won't be exposed to club crowds or spills the HELIX Floor may also be worth considering and it is a few dollars cheaper than the HELXI Rack & HELIX Controller. The updated HELIX Editor and to be introduced HELIX Native will be fully interactive with either the HELIX Floor or HELIX Rack. The HELIX Rack also offers more I/Os, but you'd need to get around the back to access them.

Yup. I've had my eye on Costco's in store and on line offerings for the last year. They are always keeping up with the latest competitive models and often with a slight feature bump in their OEM (Lenovo, HP, and I think some ASUS) bundled versions. It's good to see the touch screen Win 10 units coming down in price, whilst loaded with 6th gen CPU's (some w/ 7th gen), and lots of Storage and RAM.

Great Find! And, a great price. If you do get one, post back regarding its durability.

There is also the option to use a Line 6 Relay G10 Wireless unit that has two outputs. One is 1.4" with a 10' CableTone capacitance applied. The other output is an XLR output without any CableTone applied. Both are simultaneously active and may be used at the same time! The G10 wireless is convenient in its own right, and could be used to connect a 2nd Guitar to the Helix, either, via XLR through the Helix's Mic XLR In, or via the G10's 1/4" Output to the Helix's 1/4" Guitar Aux In or FX Return. Line 6 does not publish the specs for the two G10 Outputs (Voltages, Line vs. Instrument Levels, Impedence, etc.) If DI or another Line 6 Rep cares to provide addtional info that would certainly be welcome.

A Great Deal! Using them as a stereo backline sounds really good.

I've been enjoying use of a Samsung TabPro 12.2" Android Tablet for the past 2 1/2 years. Last Spring Samsung released a 12" Tab S that runs on Windows 10. I've yet to give it a try, but if it runs USB Host mode effectively it might be a good candidate to consider for Helix Editor. Not sure if the price has yet come down. It may still be pricey.

BoneToner: You're not alone. I'm right there with you. In the next few months, I'll be looking for a Win 10 machine for occasional use with the Helix. By the time the newly revised Helix Editor (and Helix Native Plug In) are released this Spring, there may well be yet another round of inexorable price reductions as the newest of the Laptops and 2-in-1 Touch Screen Units, settle into the market, causing down force on the price of machines in the subordinate tiers. Keep the thread going with any good gear finds.

Semantics!!!! This is 2017 Boys! Any Editing program and device should (by this day and age) have user practical features. It is not unrealistic to expect that the Helix (Device and Editor) have modern, well implemented Delete, Undo/Redo and other modern Editing features! Look at the fiasco that has resulted (and impacted many HELIX users) over the last year from Line 6's HELIX Updater procedure essentially using an archaic method. Proper Engineering and Programming can easily handle the behind the scenes technicalities of what the hardware and memory constructs require, without the users having to be forced to deal with stone age 1980 programming concepts! I'd be shocked if the forthcoming revamped Helix Editor and does not have an overhauled file manangement and many other practical user interface improvements. Hopefully the Updater will also be overhauled, if not integrated into HELIX Editor, and the eventual stand alone version of Helix NATIVE will also have state of the art file management and feature handing. Time will tell. The vast majority of HELIX owners are more likely to be guitar players and audio engineers, not computer programmers.
-
It stands to reason that with the forthcoming new HELIX Native software and revised HELIX Editor (getting a refreshed GUI and perhaps more), there is a strong likelihood that File Management, Backup, Restore, and Firmware Updating procedures are all undergoing improvements. For Line 6 not to be doing so, in the aftermath of the vast number of dissatisfied reports, posts, frustrated users, problems, and confusion regarding these areas in the existing Editor and Updater over the past year (since they were introduced) would be a massive oversight.

For those using the Line 6 HELIX Backpack, I found it to be a very snug fit for the first week, or so, until the protective closed cell foam padding surrounding the main compartment adjusted to accomodate the HELIX. Grasping the HELIX with fingers wrapped around the Treadle's textured and radiused long side, and vertically inserting (or removing) the HELIX oriented with the Treadle at the top and facing outward (away from the pack) worked best for me. The other compartments work great to hold a bunch of additional gear (headphones, IEMs, G10, cables, etc.), and when fully loaded the pack is very stable standing vertically. I have yet to extract the shoulder straps or put to use any of the fingertip sized rigging loops (6 per side) on the exterior of the pack. The reinforced handle grips, rubber bottom feet, zipper pull loops, and self sealing water resistant exterior zippers are also nice features. The several included velcro straps were also a nice touch to secure gear inside the pack. Interested to hear other users' comments.

For decades compelling sounds have resulted from signal routing and FX applied in non-standard ways! HELIX allows this to be easily explored. Let your ears be your guide. Season to taste. There is no right nor wrong. And, you can't break anything!
-
Increase the Level Parameter of HELIX's FX Return Block to make up for any decreased signal level coming back from your physical amp's FX Send. Also check to see if you may have any attenuation applied to HELIX's FX Send to your Amp (if you are routing the signal that way). Also check to see how you haae HELIX's Global Settings > I/O set for the FX Send? Instrument? Or, Line Level? Some Amps FX Loops have no problem accepting Line Level signals from outboard gear.
