  1. You're not changing snapshots in that video. You're changing between presets. It seems like you're misunderstanding the snapshot concept. You need to be in Snapshot Mode to change between them. To do that, hit the Bank Up and Bank Dn buttons at the same time. Then you'll see the 4 snapshots in the preset you're in. You can go in each one and set them up how like them. Then when you change between them, it will indeed be gapless and instantaneous.
  2. No, it isn't an issue with unit currently being produced. It was an issue with the first batch. The plant where the LT is made uses a bunch of metal stamping machines (I forget the actual number offhand), and one of them was stamping the housings incorrectly for that batch. It was quickly diagnosed after the first defective units came in, but unfortunately, there is no easy way to tell which ones from that batch will be affected. So there's still a small chance that are some unsold one out there or ones that haven't broken yet and eventually will, but they all should be filtered out pretty soon. Just anecdotally, it seems like the rate of people reporting the failure has really decreased in the last few months. The actual number of defective units is around 100 or so out of 15,000+ units sold from what Frank has reported.
  3. Uh, no they aren't... How did you arrive at that conclusion? What physical ins and outs the USB ins and outs are associated with depends entirely on how you have the Input and Output blocks on the Helix set up in the particular preset you're in.
  4. Hmm... I don't think that's right. If that's actually what's going on, it doesn't match what the manual says. In Flat Mode, in FRFR voicing, there should be no mic or cab modeling applied to the signal unless you have an IR loaded in the PC preset. You may want to open up a support ticket about. Over on TGP, people seem to be saying it's operating as expected.
  5. They didn't change the design per Frank Ritchotte, Line 6's Sr. Director of Operations on Facebook. If you're on Facebook, you should look him up and send him a PM. He will take care of you. It sounds like there was some miscommunication somewhere in your case. The defect is at the stamped profile where the little tabs bend down. The corners of that tab in the defective one weren't stamped correctly, so the weight isn't transferred to the housing correctly. That's why it shears right off at the location, and that why the defective ones always break in exactly the same spot.
  6. No need to attack me. I don't work for Line 6, btw. But the reason the pedal is breaking is because the housing for the broken units was stamped incorrectly. You just got one from those batches. Had you contacted Line 6 directly by opening up a support ticket, they most likely would have sent you a replacement. The fact that they are breaking has nothing to do with the design and everything with being built incorrectly. Sorry, you're incorrect on this one, old sport...
  7. There's nothing wrong with the LT build in and of itself. The expression pedal assembly is very similar to previous Line 6 boards such as the XTL and HD500(X). There are tons of those that have been operation for many years. The particular fault that is causing the breaks is something that looks like it wouldn't be a big deal, but it actually causes a huge difference when not done right.
  8. Well, I can't comment on Line 6's plans, but I think there's a chance that me introduce something that allows some sort of cross-talk between the different hardware pieces on the block level. I can't really say much more than that.
  9. There's no way to use the toe switch on an external pedal as a bypass controller, but you don't need it because the HX Effects has an Auto-Engage feature with expression pedals. What that means it the expression pedal itself can control the bypass states of blocks. If you bring in a wah block in the Signal Flow view it will automatically be set up so that EXP1 controls the bypass state of the wah and the wah position parameter. Page 30 of the manual describes the process of selecting EXP1 or EXP2 as the bypass controller for blocks:
  10. It was probably something causing interference on the channel you're using. Really, you should do a channel scan as described in the manual before each gig to find the channel with the least interference. Also, if you haven't done it, you should probably confirm that both your transmitter and receiver are running the latest firmware.
  11. Nope... The fact the Helix allows complex signal chains with multiple amps/cabs/IRs would make it pretty tricky to have these sort of global options. Basically, other units can do it because they have a dedicated slot where the amp/cab model always goes. There's no such thing on the Helix. You can put the amp/cab models anywhere you want them in the signal chain. So having fewer global options is the trade-off for having more flexibility elsewhere.
  12. Well, the thing is there's only one editor - HX Edit. It's the same application for every product in the Helix platform, and there's no way to have HX Edit connected to the Helix and the HX Effects at the same time.
  13. No, that functionality doesn't exist, and I doubt it ever will.
  14. Quick question - do you have an expression pedal plugged into your HXFX?
  15. Hi, Sorry to hear about your problems, but they can probably be sorted pretty easily by Line 6 support. I would suggest opening up a support ticket or calling them at (818) 575-3600 . If you had your HD500X registered before, it should be pretty easy for them to get you back up and running.
  16. It sounds like it's more like a hardware defect than a firmware issue. There are a bunch of guys using L6 Link over on TGP, and I've not seen anyone report a similar problem.
  17. There are several things in your review that confuse me, but this one especially... If you have the PC in Flat mode in the FRFR voicing, the signal coming out of the XLR out should basically match the signal coming into it. There should be no speaker modeling applied to it. One thing to check in regards to the Flat preset is to make sure it's actually in the FRFR voicing. Several people on TGP mentioned that the factory preset labeled FLAT was actually using the LF Flat voicing which has the high frequency compression driver turned off. If that's the case, you would want to edit that preset to change it to FRFR voicing for acoustic guitars.
  18. You can change the color of the footswitch rings for stomps and snapshots, but not presets.
  19. There's just latency inherent in Bluetooth. At worst it can be over 100ms, and at best it's around 40ms. You might not notice 40ms latency when watching a movie, but you would definitely hear while playing guitar. You don't notice latency when you're listening to a CD or MP3 because you're just hearing the stream of audio from the player. You're not comparing it to anything else. The lag is there, but you aren't hearing it.

    Jazz/fusion sounds

I'm not really a high gain player either. I'm not a true jazz/fusion guy, but I do try to fake it sometimes. I have an Ibanez LGB30, and I don't think it would be too hard getting those sorts of tones with the Helix, even if you are just using the Helix for effects. The Minotaur, Teemah and Kinky Boost are probably the drives I use most often. You also might want to try the Top Secret OD, which is based on the DOD OD-250 preamp pedal.
  21. As long as you don't have it set to Analog Bypass, yes, it will be buffered. With Analog Bypass, it's true bypass, the input impedance would match the output when bypassed.
  22. They had it on sale for $99 for LT owners just last month... So, yes, it happens.
  23. Have you contacted TrueTone? Over on TGP, I believe people said that the new CS12's work, and that TrueTone has been updating or replacing older units for free.
  24. HX Edit only works as a preset librarian and IR loader for the HX Effects right now. Full editor capability will be coming with the next update, which will be out soon - probably within the next week or two.
  25. Sounds like your unit is defective. I would either exchange it or open up a support ticket with Line 6. My HX Effects is completely transparent as far as I can tell.
