  1. You kind of answered your own question. Yes, you need to have your headphones or monitors plugged directly into the Helix to hear it.

    Helix 2.9

I don't know that anyone from Line 6 ever said that their goal was to increase the pace/size of updates compared to what they've been. I think it's more like the Helix Core was necessary for them to continue doing updates at a reasonable pace for all the SKUs that are part of the HX/Helix universe. From what I've seen behind the scenes, it certainly things they are more nimble now, and there are kind of a lot slick improvements they're making. I think the pace may increase a bit, but don't hold me to that, and, as always, I don't speak for Line 6. I know that the 3.0 is going to be quite large, though.
  3. I understand it's frustrating to have a piece of gear fail, but I don't know that I'd agree with your second statement. I've been using my HX Effects all over the place for the last few years without issues. Billy Corgan used the HX Effects on the Smashing Pumpkins' world tour last year... And there are thousands of other people using it all over. Things just unfortunately happen sometimes. Line 6 will go out their way to make it right for you. The standard warranty is two years, so you should be covered as far as getting it repaired/replaced goes.
  4. Yes, I've done it. I powered my M9 with a Strymon M9 for awhile before I ended up getting an HX Effects. There's a bridge rectifier right after the M9's power jack that converts AC to DC as soon as it hits the rectifier. So even though the official power supply is AC, the M9 actually runs on DC all the time.
  5. Sounds like it's probably a hardware issue of some sort. It could be a relatively simple thing like a loose ribbon connection or something like that, but your best best is to open a support ticket. How old is the unit?

    Helix 2.9

It's just like any other commands you assign to footswitches now. They're only accessible in Stomp Mode or in one of the views where those Stomp switches are visible. So if you have Preset Mode set to Snap/Stomp, Stomp/Snap, Preset/Stomp or Stomp/Preset, you could access these new functions. But in Snap/Preset Mode you'll have to hit the Mode footswitch to go into Stomp Mode to access them.
  8. I think I answered one of your other posts. You seem to have some misunderstanding about the FBV controllers. The POD's FBV jack won't control the Spider V. The FBV is essentially just a remote control for whatever you're connecting it to. It's not like a MIDI controller in that you can have control messages sent through one device to another device downstream. The Spider V has no MIDI capabilities, so there's really no easy way (or no way at all) to integrate with other gear like you're talking about. Connection the POD's FBV jack to the Spider V's FBV jack may actually damage one or both of those units as both would be sending power over the line.
  9. Yes, the M9 will run on 9V DC. It needs around 900mA or so. If you use a current doubler cable with a Voodoo Lab L6 adapter, it will work.
  10. Not sure I understand the question. The Spider V doesn't have an effects loop, so there's really only one way to connect the G5N to it. You have put it in front of the amp.
  11. If you're using the SP1-L6H with the toe switch connected, you can't connect another external switch. There's only two circuits in the EXP1/2; FS4/5 jack. You can do one expression pedal and one switch (which the SP1-L6H is on its own), two switches or two expression pedals. You need to run a TRS to dual TS cable (also commonly called an insert cable) from the Stomp to the SP1-L6H in order for its toe switch to work.
  12. Yes. You need to use an FX Loop block in your preset in order for the 4CM to work properly. Otherwise you're just bypassing your amp's preamp.

    Helix 2.9

Besides the new features I mentioned above, some of the new models are really nice. The Red Llama and Legacy Drive are great sounding OD/distortion models (the Red Llama, in particular is THICK - kind of like a Big Muff and TS808 had a baby or something). The Revv Purple channel sounds very good, too.
  14. Well, it's not HX Edit controlling Logic. It's the Helix sending out MIDI messages over the USB connection and those are making changes in Logic. If you don't need MIDI from the Helix into Logic, just go to Global Settings>MIDI/Tempo>MIDI over USB and set it to Off.

The new Command Center options in 2.9 are actually quite cool, and they're things that people have been asking for in one way or another for quite awhile. You'll be able to assign a snapshot (or two different snapshots) to any footswitch in Stomp Mode. You'll also be able to do the same thing with presets (so if you want to create something akin to a favorite preset switch, you can do it). You'll also be able to assign Looper functions to any Stomp switch, meaning you won't have to go into Looper Mode to use the 6-Switch Looper.
  16. Looper time is 80s mono/40s stereo at 1/2-speed (so 40s mono/20s stereo at full speed).
  17. It's kind of a funny article because he seems to be operating under the premise that the Litigator is an actual model of a D-style amp... It isn't, of course, so it seems a little odd to put a ton of effort into making them match. It's really kind of an idealized Fender circuit with smoother saturation characteristics. Now, broadly speaking, that could describe a D-style amp as well, so they share some characteristics. A cup of black coffee and an Americano espresso drink share some characteristics, too, but you probably can't necessarily make one taste exactly like the other.
  18. Go to Global Settings>Ins/Outs and make sure Return Type is set to Return, not Aux In.
  19. There's a toe switch under the front of the pedal. Push the pedal forward until the switch clicks. That will activate the wah (and turn off the volume pedal).
  20. On Facebook, Frank said one reason they haven't announced it more widely is that they are waiting for reports from an independent testing lab. I believe the notice listed above only went out to dealers in the EU, so it very well may be an effort to meet some EU-specific regulations. There are no reports of actual explosions or fires - just overheating. So they're just trying to get to the bottom of it.
  21. Sure. You can do a lot more than just change presets on the Rack with MIDI. You can change presets, turn blocks on and off, control parameters, etc. It just depends on how sophisticated you want to get. One thing you might want to consider is going the other way. Getting a Helix or Helix Rack with the Control and using that to control your other pedals. You may find that you don't need all of the pedals. Programming MIDI on the Helix is a lot easier than programming it on the ES-8. This is what I do:

    POD Go Edit

I'm not sure there's anything saying that this wouldn't be possible with a camera kit connection in the future sometime.
  23. Yes, this is true. Here's what Frank Ritchotte from Line 6 said about it: Hey guys, Yes, In early December, following a handful of customer reports of a battery overheating issue with our Relay G10 product, we temporarily stopped the sale of Relay G10, G10S, and G10T systems and Line 6 Relay G10T USB Charging Cables. We have recently completed a thorough investigation into the matter and are actively working with the relevant regulators to determine appropriate next steps. Once those determinations are made, we will communicate them to all stakeholders, dealers and customers. In the meantime, out of an abundance of caution we have communicated with all retailers and distributors to ensure the sales of these products are temporarily halted. For perspective we have had 4 reports out of 144,000 units in the field. It’s a tiny number/% but we take all quality issues very seriously. Here's the notice in English. For the record, personally I have the original G10 system as well as two G10S systems. Perhaps I shouldn't say this, but I don't really plan to stop using them. I will probably be a bit more careful about leaving them unattended while charging until there's a new firmware update, though.
  24. I think the original POD was released towards the end of ‘98, so perhaps early ‘99 is what you’d be looking for?
  25. No, the FBV controllers don't work like this. They are using a Cat5 cable and RJ45 connectors, but they aren't ethernet connections. It's a proprietary protocol. Trying to connect multiple controllers through a hub could damage them.
