  1. Hi, again, Maidlife, Thanks for uploading those clips - it’s a big help in understanding your issue. Having listened to the samples, I find that I have to agree with the others about the “dull and lifeless” description of the tones. They are certainly not what I would expect to hear from the bridge pup of a PRS Custom 24. I also think that the suggestion above, from “BrianPeter”, about checking the resistance of your guitar pickups is definitely worth checking out. From your previous post, I understand that you’re currently in Japan, and having access to electrical test gear may be an issue, so try using a new cable first. One thing about this that I really don’t understand? In your original post you mention that: “I’ve owned a helix LT for almost a year, the problem I have it since the first days, the presets pre installed sound nothing like in the videos on YouTube...so I gave up on using them, then noticed that when creating a patch, I had to add compressors or ODs before the amp to get a decent distortion... ” From this comment, I can’t figure out if your unit has always been “dull and lifeless” right from day one, or did that happen a short time later? It’s not the sort of situation that I would have tolerated for almost a year, I would have been chasing Line 6 for a replacement LT as soon as. I’m a little surprised it has taken you so long to seek advice on this - there are always helpful Helix folk here, day and night. Let’s hope it can be solved quickly.
  2. Hi Lucas, As suggested by "cruisinon2", above, you will probably only need to set your output to Multi. Although you have also said that your preset output appears completely normal, I would suggest that you go to "Global Settings" > Ins/Outs. Then use the Page Button navigate to page 3 where you should set the output to "Multi" for both the "Volume Knob Control" and "Headphones Monitor" options. Hope this helps and good luck with the concert.
  3. Hi Maidlife, Here’s an quick idea - hook up your HX LT via USB, create a new patch using the Tweed Blues Bright with just a low high cut eq (100-5k) and room reverb at the end and record an example of what comes out of your equipment. Post it here and we may be able to figure out a solution. We know what Alexdotguitars sounds like, but without your audio we have no real comparison and are clutching at straws, TIA.

  6. Hi Gassin, Way back when the Helix was first launched in June 2015, it had to be edited via the hardware. Users were crying out for some sort of remote editing system, which arrived in September ‘15. Excellent, well not really because that original software was more of a patch and IR librarian. Eventually the HX Edit software arrived and lots of folks were happy - mostly ones with back problems! While editing presets I’m happy either way as I have my Helix Floor model on a sturdy stand at desk height. I can swivel my chair to the right for the push button, joystick experience or, spin to the left and take advantage of typing on a computer keyboard to swiftly enter a name for a patch. Either or, it’s whatever way you want to use it. I have it set up like that because I’m a studio rat and the Helix is tethered as my recording interface and it works best for me this way. Just have fun with the thing, but you will need to hook up to a computer at some stage to make backup and safety copies of all those wonderful tones you have made!

  8. Yup, that’s true - click on the emoji icon in the menu and it comes up blank. Pointless function! Luckily, this forum software appears to be an “off the shelf” third party solution, see the bottom of the page where it states “Powered by Invision Community”. This should mean that it will leave the Line 6 coders free to perfect the firmware version 2.80 and beyond - yay!
  9. AARGH!!! I knew I should have included a picture - so here ya go! Not sure if it’s a Mac thing- this is a screen grab from my iPad. The “Trash Can” icon is the same one that shows up when you choose to upload an attachment. Hope this clarifies the issue. Lots of users on here don’t like the way some of this forum software functions - including me! + No Emojis! Regards
  10. Hi rd2rk, You aren't missing anything, it's just a damn fool, long winded way of deleting attachments. Go to your "My Attachments" page. When you're there you can see at the top of the a page a "thermometer" bar showing you attachment quota. Then below is a list of the items you have attached and a method of filtering and sorting them eg: images or files, size etc. The left side column of the list shows your current attachments. The centre column which appears to be "greyed out" text with a speech bubble or envelope icon, this is where you need to click to select whatever item you want to remove. Now this was where it seems a little strange. When you click the "greyed out icon/text, it takes you to the original post where you inserted the attachment, once there you have to select the "Edit" option under your post. Now you're in the Edit window of your original post which shows your uploaded file/images in the drag to attach box. Place your mouse over the item that you want to remove and roll over to the "Trashcan" icon and click to "Delete". On retuning to your "My Attachments" page you may need to refresh the page for it to update the status. Instead of a straight forward delete option, the whole thing is almost a reverse procedure of how to attach stuff. Hope this helps/makes sense I could have used some screen shots to illustrate this, but it would eat into my quota :)
  11. Hi, again, It’s right about now that I should say, “latency, what latency?” Let me reassure you that there are many people using old MBP laptops to run HXN without problems, so go for it. Plus, you have the benefit of a built in screen, none of the extra cabling and it’s possibly quieter than a NUC option. If you have any more questions re: Native, this is the place to find someone who is happy to help. Let us know how you get on. Happy trails.
  12. Hola Jimmy, Well I suppose nobody uses Gaffer tape any longer, now we are in the digital age :) See if this helps - check under the Helix Global Settings > Ins/Outs there you can find Volume Knob Control options. According to the Helix Owner’s Manual - Page 50 “Determines which output(s) are affected when turning the top panel VOLUME knob. For example, you may want to control the level sent from the 1/4" outputs to your stage monitor without affecting the XLR level sent to the front-of-house mixer.” Hope this makes sense, and avoids anyone else accidentally messing with your volume. EDIT - I just found this that may be of interest - this is using a send block out to PA - check it out
  13. Hi lemueldave, IIRC, there have been some other folks who have had the thought - buy a cheap Intel NUC and hook it up to a Stomp. Then grab a copy of the discounted version of HX Native and there you have it - the equivalent of a Helix Floor or Rack for less cash. Yeah, well, maybe and maybe not. A long while back I saw Cubase 7.5 running on a NUC with lots of tracks, although I don’t know how many of those tracks were audio or MIDI and more importantly - plug-ins. I also thought of a couple of disadvantages in using a NUC rather than a laptop. A mini computer may appear to be more portable, but you don’t have a display, then you will probably need more cables and connectors. If it was me, I would stick to a laptop, but hey, that’s just me! Also, FYI here is the link to some more info and the minimum hardware specifications for running Helix Native.
  14. Hi again, I realise that this is an incredibly frustrating situation, but at least you know that the issue will be fixed in the next round of updates. The thing is the update to Firmware 2.80 is the big one in respect of “Helix Unity” as Eric described it. As this includes all the Helix family of products, both hardware and software, I can understand that Line 6 are not going to rush out a patch for the HXN when they are trying to align the entire range. As for the release date - well no one outside of the development team has any idea of when that will drop, other than “Spring 2019” and as far as Line 6 are concerned that could last until June 21. Don’t hold your breath. Of course Line 6 have played their “Get Out of Jail Free” card by saying that Native is still functional under a previous release. Damned annoying - but the fix is in the pipeline. Hang in there.
  15. Hi, This is extremely annoying for anyone who cannot update because the software is flakey! Anyhow, as you are aware you can revert to an earlier iteration that will work - so here you go https://line6.com/software/index.html should take you to the Line 6 download page for All Software - Helix Native > Mac OS. Then you need to scroll down the page to Helix Native 1.60 the Spring Cleaning Update. That should keep you running until the bug gets squashed! My guess is that will happen with the next major firmware update some time this Spring. Hope this helps. Enjoy!
  16. Hi sigkill9, Just to make sure that I fully understand your comment above. Did you have a hardware Helix connected to your MacBook Pro when you changed the Preferences > Audio > Input Device > System Setting ? I don't understand how or why that works, but if you say it does - excellent, that's good to know. After Native has initialised is it possible to switch back to the previous Audio configuration without screwing things up again? Lucky for me that my version of Native works as it should, because I use my Helix Floor unit as the audio interface for recording and re-amping and I need to have the Helix designated as the Input Device.
  17. Hi, again, Not sure how relevant this might be, but I did a bit of digging around in some of the older posts on here and found this quote from way back in 2017 “Information This is for the paid, fully licensed and activated version of Helix Native: After checking out each and every alternative here, I have to declare that Helix Native needs no (permanent) connection (to the internet) BUT it needs an active network adapter (LAN module, card, WLAN-stick, [...] If that deactivated, Helix Native won't work. Obviously, the computer activation is dependent/related to an adapter (or card [...])” Full thread here
  18. Hi eltoffer, I just had a thought about this issue. It may be worth checking out and there is nothing to lose. Download and install a demo version of another DAW (eg: Reaper) and then check that Native will function correctly within that program. IIRC, I think some users who were having problems with authorising their HXN plug-in managed to get it to work using the internet connection via Reaper or even GarageBand. Once the bug was cleared the plug-in worked correctly without the need to “phone home”. Then when they switched back to Logic Pro it would no longer require an IC when being used. Worth a shot!
  19. Apologies - I was about to suggest trying Native v.1.71, but I have just noticed that you mentioned that you have and had no success with that.
  20. Hi, Native works fine for me using the same set up a “soundog” mentioned in the post above - High Sierra with LPX 10.4.4. A couple of years back, when I first bought Native after running the demo version for a few days, I had lots of problems with Native needing to be always connected to the internet. I would not work without “phoning home”. It seems there was a problem with the authorisation - it appeared to be still working as a demo version even though it was registered. This was the solution for that problem, quote from post in 2017: ”Waited until beyond the 15 days trial period and deauthorised the computer then did a complete uninstall of the Helix Native plug-in. Launched Logic to verify that Native was gone and no longer available to use. Do a clean install of Native and re-authorise the computer and login to my account which tells me I have a valid license that does not expire. Done - no more pesky demo bits lurking in there and it looks like it is not trying to "phone home" each time you use it!” You might wish to check that your HXN has completed the authorisation and doesn’t show it is still running as an evaluation copy. Also, I would recommend that you do not have any software running in the background that may interfere with the registration process. Example “Little Snitch” or anti virus software which could block the registration. If none of this fixes the problem, then I suggest you raise a ticket with support to make them aware of the issue. Hope this may help.
  21. How come nobody has bothered to mention of any of the presets made by Scott (Minchk - The Helix Channel)? Oh, it looks like I did that right now. Plenty of good stuff to choose from, and you can watch him build and demo them on UChoob. EDIT: I should point out that I have also bought presets from the other three guys mentioned here and all have their merits.
  22. If you are having difficulties with previous link posted by “arislaf” I suggest that you use this one. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4r7gucctc4ydkye/AACzuVidRrsSbORyqG72fpwSa?dl=0 I have made a copy of the original presets created by “arislaf” - you can also download them from this link. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/0dg009g8ovfvrzr/AACanFxqQaLMd8QCj_VgHHVma?dl=0 Any problems with any of these links, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Have fun - and a big thank you to Arislaf for his work.
  23. Groundhog Day - it's like deja vu all over again. These trolls seem to crawl out from wherever they hide in that slump between major Firmware updates.
  24. Oops! Well, let’s hope that it isn’t the other tone lunatic! Now, he really was annoying.
  25. Oh, please, no - not the return of “itsslash” or “Iamtheone”. Arrrrrgggghhh! EDIT: I just realised - “Florian” - it’s not a really scary trolling name.
