There's another potential sig! Grats on the sound OP!

Please mark the topic as "Answered". Thanks!

You could do what I did, which is to find a pedal or two that adds something extra and not exactly replicating what you have now. I found that in my Bogner La Grange pedal. Its got that lil bit of extra Plexi mojo I can't seem to nail in my Helix or the Kemper.
-
Well, I had both units together for a while. I finally sold my kemper because it wasn't being used as much after purchasing Helix. Helix for me is my "hub" for all musical gear, plus with the editor, I hardly have to touch it unless I just want to.
-
If yer gonna wish then I want that DSP usage block and a clip block too.
-
One thing the HD series had over Helix was its L-6 Link port. It actually worked correctly. If you own a DT series amp that's a BIG deal, and we are STILL waiting for the control side update. Sound wise on most presets I like Helix better.
-
I wonder what L6 has in store for Helix and Summer NAMM?

Pod XT-W. Pod in a watch... -
Hope you get it fixed soon. Please be sure to post your experiences with an "Answered" sign on the post as soon as Line-6 fixes your unit under warranty.

Instructions? Instructions? We don't need no stinking instructions...

OK and yes that's right Phil. To the OP- But usually, I try and research, and then figure out if an item works for me (for more than the time it takes to make coffee) by trial and error 1st, before posting/bashing it in a thread with things like, "I dunno it looks ok but I've probably had better", or "Just got Helix, may prefer my old gear"? Really? I know you probably did not intend on bashing Helix, but text is unforgiving. And that's fine if Helix or anything else is not for you. Move along. Nothing to see here. But I mean come on, would you rush out buy a product you don't yet know much about after browsing the forums and spot this? Or worse, not researching anything "at all" and then posting how much you like other gear better after buying it. Think man... Point is, not only does this kind of mindset have the ability to scare away 1st-time potential lookers, but you can't learn everything about "any" well-made guitar processor in one or two evenings. It is like Phil said, it takes a while. So, my thinking is to lose the instant gratification syndrome lots of people seem to have (about everything it seems). Otherwise, might as well start the topic with "I don't know anything yet but for the 1st two minutes I'm really disliking Helix"... ;) Helix is not perfect, as nothing is. After a while and once you learn it do what I do, and lollipop away! But until then give it time and Im betting you will enjoy the tones.

I beg to differ Silver, let me explain. If frequencies beyond the range produced by the cabs were captured by me, I could understand it. Small room, cheap $300 mics and knowledge base on IR capture a bit on the light side. However, if a company say like Line 6 is doing this (to sell units like Helix with), done inside a nice studio worth its own salt, I highly doubt that the mic recordings (sounds) for Helix cabs were beyond the range produced by the cab itself... So why then the trimming? And whether I can actually "hear" what the cabinet produces sound wise or not, should not reflect what the cabinet truly produces sound wise. ;) If I wanted inaccurate IR's suited to my tastes only (and hearing only), does not make for a real deal cabinets tone, does it? I've strived for the "holy grail" of tone for too many decades to do that. That's a foreign concept to me. I can work around a spot on accurate cab tone, but when I know that start with inaccurate sampled ones just because they may sound better to my ears, I feel I have cheated only myself in the long run. Is that what we are doing when having to trim both ends of our IR's here? My point is that it in being all over the table frequency wise, makes people mistrust IR's, in general, versus the real thing. Ok so Maybe I just don't understand the trimming process of frequency on an IR capture, and that's ok with me. I don't know it all and never claimed I did. There are many that can explain this out there. Let's see if we can get a guy like mBritt (or the like) or Line 6 even, to explain how it is that a cab mic'ed up for IR capture in a good (acoustically flat/neutral) studio produces frequencies into a good mic that is NOT coming from the cab itself? I can believe the edge versus the cone causing a tonal shift in tone, but I doubt extraneous frequencies are being added (from the cab or the mic in a good studio) only to be a burden for all to be removed later.

FX-1 uses my Bogner Lagrange. FX-2 uses my H&K Grand Meister deluxe 40 in a 4 cable method. I have a patch assigned for this amp using wah, distortion (if needed) before and Comp, Vol, Mod, delay and Reverb after. The H&K is set to 5 watts out running to a 2x12 cab with V-30's. Since I'm going into Helix with my guitars 1st, I can use the H&K patch for the GM-40 (and leave everything plugged in place), or I can switch to regular patches in Helix and still use the Lagrange pedal when and where needed. The Helix main left (mono) 1/4" out is part of the 4 cm, and the Helix XLR L&R outs go to my mixer board. I also run the built in redbox out from the H&K to the mixer as well, and mixer outs are going into my audio interface where I can mix and match as desired.

Hummmm yea you make some good points... Maybe it's a feature that had to be there because of a bug? LOL who knows but Im sure like always they will jump right in here and tell us one way of the other... ;)
-
Really love the way that looks! !! Great job!
-
No, I haven't tried that but it could be (speculation) just the way that the Helix firmware was coded, in that if anything gets moved or copied it will do a rebuild so nothing gets out of wack with its last internal memory settings.

Since the 10" Celestion Greenback freq range is 95-5500 Hz and the 12" Vintage 30's at 70-5000Hz, I'm thinking 7k hi cut is about right. http://celestion.com/product/31/g10_greenback/

Well, i don't know about sharing ages, but here's a pic of my thumb after the ingrown part was removed. Hopefully, i can play in a few days... YEA I Know- TMI TMI !!! LOL

On Helix I use an FX-Loop with a Bogner LaGrange and it sounds killer. This is reaching a bit I know but WTH, just try running your pedal board straight into Helix. Yea I know but humor me. does that sound better to you as well? If so, then it may be what you are accustomed to hearing.

Hi cru, If you will pm the guy thru paypal explaining what you want (polished brass like mine), he will send you a "request to buy" a brass one special order. It costs $10 or $20 more (sorry don't remember exactly now), but that's how I did it. Hope that helps.

Hello Ron and welcome to our old folks home. I'll turn 60 in June. Oh yes, we have youngsters here too (still wet behind the ears) but some of them are quite bright and full of helpful ideas on how best to use Helix!
