I have a Spider IV 150. I have enjoyed the amp. I also like to use a Line 6 POD HD500x with it. Someone recently told me about a bypass mode. I don't know if that is what it is called. If I hold the TAP/Tuning buttong down when I power it up, it acts like a simple speaker. I have no effects on it. I can't find any documentation on this feature though. Can I get more info somewhere? Thanks, Dave

Hey everyone I have a Flextone III that I'm using with a POD XT Live. How do I bypass my Flextone III's amp modelling so that the XT Live does all the work. I setup the Line 6 Clean Amp but I find my sound still sounds a little muddy. Thoughts?

Hey all, I know this is a common topic but I still haven't found a satisfying answer so I'm going to ask it... How can I remove the tone coloring that occurs on the HD500X when in stompbox mode and all effects (and amp models) are OFF? I can tell when I go to the tuner and use the bypass mode that with all effects off, the 500X is still affecting my tone. In tuner bypass mode, the signal to amp is dry and unaffected do the 500x *should* be capable of not coloring my signal. In regular play, with all fx off and the amp model disabled, the tone is darker and the signal is weaker. This is really frustrating because what I wanted the 500X is for it's stompbox effects not an amp modeler. I know about the 4 cable method and using the modeling for the preamp toy amp, but that will be a last resort. I just really want the effects and my amp's tone! Please help! Hey L6 Forums, New HX Effects user here. Really liking it so far! I do have a question about Snapshots, though: On my main preset, I have 4 Snapshots set up - Clean Electric, Acoustic Sim, Overdrive, and Fuzz. I have the Clean Electric Snapshot set up as the base tone of the preset, and therefore it's not assigned to a footswitch. I'm trying to use the other 3 snapshots to swap in and out different sounds with one touch. Is there a way to set the Acoustic Sim, Overdrive and Fuzz snapshots to bypass automatically when I press the footswitch for one of the other Snpshots? I'm looking to avoid hitting the snapshot footswitch a second time, only to have it bypass the snapshot I wanted to change back to. I still want the release function on the switches for Acoustic, Overdrive and Fuzz to take me back to my Clean Electric snapshot, though. Is this possible?

I have a problem with my helix that's been bugging me for weeks and which I can't seem to solve by myself. I use the helix for rehearsing with my band and have a patch for every song, with the snapshots being controlled via midi. My clean tone has a split in it, where I have a clean signal with only amp, ir etc. in path A and the reverb and delay on path B. The reason for that is that I like to heavily EQ those (I have a high cut set to 2.0khz because I like the effects to be rather mellow and dark and feel like that without EQ, they are way too bright), but don't want those EQ settings on my general guitar tone. Now, since I only need the split for the clean tone, I'm wondering about what to do with said split for the distorted tones. Even with all blocks on path B turned off, I still have two (identical) signals going into the merge block, which would make the tone more muddy I suppose? Correct me if I'm wrong. I could just turn down the volume down for path B, but that affects the volume of the tone in general (it is louder when I simply delete the split) and doesn't seem to be the ideal solution. Isn't there a way to decide for each snapshot if the split is active or ignored? There does seem to be a power button on the switch block, but when I turn it off, I still have two signals going into the merge block, so I guess all it does is deactivate all blocks on path B. Does anyone have a solution for this? Any help is very much appreciated (tldr: what I basically want is that when I have a clean snapshot, the split should be active and when it's a distorted snapshot, the signal should simply go from input to output, completey ignoring the split and path B). I attached a screenshot of the rhythm and clean tone for one of my patches.

I like to assign multiple parameters to switches as bypasses. I might use one switch to boost the drive on an amp and increase the presence simultaneously, while another affects the decay and mix of the reverb. However, in stop mode the screen just says "MULTIPLE (2)". Is there a way to rename a bypass on the switch so that I know what parameters I am changing?

Hi. is it possible to scroll through presets while still in «all bypass» mode? my footswitch setup is: 1 and 2 is preset up and down. 3 is all bypass. but as soon as I scroll up or down the preset is engaged and bypass is no longer on. I would like to scroll without going through all the different sounds. is this possible?

I've been pretty st0ked on this amp I purchased for my small practice studio. But occasionally, even with all the great sounds Line 6 Spider V technology has, I am trying to get just a "clean" signal to the driver. I have a set of the standard outboards pedals for sculpting my sound. But none of the 128 presets or any tweaks I have done to them have given me a sound that wasn't "time-smeared" and colored in a negative way. The real tell-tale is when I am using my RC-2 or RC-10r BOSS looper pedals' drum sounds. The snare and especially the cymbals are all resonating in a weird, mushy way that extends the attacks over a couple dozen ms, taking the definition away. It's not just EQ, which I can adjust for "flat" tone. They sound like crap anyway, and it takes some of the enjoyment away from practicing. This is with all the effects off (no chorus/mod, delay, reverb) in the amp, no distortion or overdrive, and using one of the "clean" amp models, with the preamp gain lowered as much as I can and still get output. If I compare it to my other practice amps - a Roland 30x and an old Fender - the clean channel sound is crisp and tight and the BOSS drum sounds (which are EQ'ed to sound fairly flat out of a guitar amp) work very well. Anybody got a clue or a hot tip how to just bypass all the DSP and feed the power stage in the Line 6 Spider V directly? Am I thinking about this in the right way? Thanks for any help, sincerely!! -JD in San Francisco

Hi, wondered if anyone had any suggestions. So I'm using the HX effects for bass into a Darkglass Vintage Microtubes 500 amp. The amp has an intelligent footswitch for going between clean, vintage microtubes circuit, B3K circuit, and mute (4 buttons). When trying to use an effects loop on the HX effects through the loop send/return on the amp, it is bypassing the footswitch somehow, so I can't change between the onboard distortions or mute the amp. This doesn't happen with 2 cable method (no loop) and didn't happen using individual effects in the loop... any ideas?

I have had the HX FX for a couple of months now, and love the effects and routing capabilities, but I find it REALLY alters the base sound of the instrument when bypassed...I've owned the M9 for nearly a decade and there was a audible difference when switching between True bypass and DSP bypass... the true bypass was great, the DSP very useable...but when I switch from Analog bypass to DSP bypass on the HX FX I hear no difference whatsoever...the both sound very digital and toppy to me...it adds a lot of treble and thins out the sound...I understand buffers and all that jazz (I have owned litterally hundreds of pedals haha!) , but surely analog bypass should not change the sound at all? I am starting to wonder if my unit is faulty?

Hi, Just got a Helix rack and I'm new to this forum, but since Helix is so new to the world, I couldn't find any suggestions on Google. So far I've been very pleased, but *I think* I've discovered quite a limitation. Am I right in thinking there is not a MIDI command that can bypass or engage an effect block? I know there are CC49-58 which act like the footswitches, but they toggle the bypassed state, not set it explicitly. Every other effects processor I've used (inc the M13) was able set an effect "on" or "off" using MIDI. For example, on the M13, setting CC11 to 127 turned the bottom left effect "on", setting CC11 to 0, turned the effect "off". Am I right in thinking that with the Helix, we can only toggle effects? This means if I'm doing a song and an effect is toggled accidentally, or a MIDI command is missed, then that effect will be in the wrong state for the rest of the song, not just until it is next bypassed/activated. This just seems kind of crazy to me!? I've tried setting the footswitch assignment to momentary instead of latching, but then CC49-58 have no effect (which I believe is by design). I also know you can use controller assignment on the "mix" of an effect, then dial it down to 0% when you want it off and 100% when you want it on. But that's a workaround at best, and many of the effect blocks don't have a "mix" parameter (amps, cabs, EQ...). I was kind of disappointed with the MIDI implementation on the M13, which was a fabulous piece of hardware, but lacking thorough MIDI control. When I looked through the manual of the Helix, I thought "Oh man, this thing can do it all!". But if I'm now going to find you can't reliably turn effect on and off with MIDI, I'm going to feel a bit robbed :( Cheers, David

Just wondering if anyone knows how to use the 2 together. I plug the Shuriken in to the Variax port on the HD500 (not the +, this is the first version) and I get the guitar to power on the Variax mode but I can't figure out how to bypass the settings on the HD500 to hear just the sounds being produced by the Shuriken. Does anyone know what I need to do? Any help is much appreciated ESPECIALLY since the battery on my Shuriken isn't powering the guitar so I have no choice but to use the HD500 to power the guitar right now.

So I see that the HX effects can be set to bypass mode by holding the tap/mode button at the same time. I purchased one and am excited to get this hooked up to my small pedal board My question is can you set this up to be pre-programmed on a per preset or even per snapshot level? Or is this only available as a manual function. I'm planning on integrating this with a few different pedals with midi function(chase bliss/eventide) and was hoping when I am not using the HX effects than it would not affect the signal at all. Because I there is only 2 effects loops I unfortunately have to set this up in a chain instead of all through HX effects. Thanks in advanced!

This unit sounds amazing in headphones, but I can not get it to sound good with my Crate GLX1200x guitar amp. It does sound better using the 4 cable method, but there is no way to bypass the unit. The effects are constantly on. What gives? And why is there no power switch?! You have to unplug the unit to turn it off? Dumb. Thank you for any suggestions!

Hey Guys, I just wondered if anyone could tell me how the global noise gate works in DSP bypass mode. I had read that the gate only works when effects are activated but on my M9 it seems like it's working all the time when I'm in DSP bypass mode even when no effects are engaged. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Thanks!

Ok so I am considering purchasing the POD HD500X because I am looking for a multi-effects processor with many different options and the ability to have many different presets. But what I want to do is run the effects from the POD but still have my particular amplifiers tone. Now I have a Bugera 333xl head with a B-52 4x12 cab, and I want to keep that tone and only use the POD for the effects. I have seen and read about the 4 cable method and I have the ability to do that with my effects loop, but when I go onstage I usually have to setup quickly, so I was wondering if it's still possible to just plug the guitar into the POD and have the other cable go straight to the front of my Bugera head and use no amp tones (from the POD) and only the effects but I can't seem to find a straight answer out there. I am looking forward to your responses and thanks in advance for the help.

My spider valve mk11 112 the delay setting is turning on by itself. The delay is engaging on its own with the knob in the off position in manual and preset mode. Upon resetting to the off position it reengages within a few seconds to a minute. Any idea on how to disconnect or bypass this? I dont really use it. I would like to fix it. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone, I have questions about some configuration on the HD500X, 1 - Is this possible to Lock the AMP knob ? let me explain : you configure your preset. you move on stage and, bad luck, your guitar cable move one of the HD500X amp knob. It happens to me a lot of time. so i want to FIX\lock my preset knob (master include) 2 - Is there a delay bypass like those on the Stompbox DL4 ? With the DL4 stompbox after activate the bypass, when you switch off the delay, the effect still continue to his end, it s very usefull because when you juggle with lots of preset, it will not cut your delay effect. actually, i managed to handle this with delay + reverb preset. but it s not always simple to configure. Thanx
