Attach your preset so we can look at it. Meanwhile, double check your cables: Guitar>Helix Input>Effects>FX Loop 1 Block>Helix Send 1>Amp Input>Amp FX Loop Send>Helix Return 1>Effects>Helix Left/Mono Out>Amp FX Loop Return

I hear ya! Native is great for no fuss re-amping, but for live, in the moment recording, not so much.
-
USB 1/2 IN Trim might work, but you'll have an easier time just using the application's output volume control.
-
Native won't do MIDI program/preset changes except in Logic and maybe some other DAWs (see manual). It won't do program changes in Reaper. Snapshots and any other MIDI need to be set up in CommandCenter of the Helix preset that you're using to send audio and MIDI to your DAW.
-
Doesn't matter if it's set to MULTI or DIGITAL. What do you mean? 0db where? In Focusrite control, are you seeing a similar level to my screenshot?
-
DAW means Digital Audio Workstation. For all intents and purposes it refers to Digital recording software. If you'r allergic to reading manuals, forget it. Buy a Hardware Digital Recorder, they're virtually identical in basic function to old school tape decks. If you're capable of reading and comprehending manuals, download Reaper. It's full featured, has an unlimited trial period ($60 when you're ready) and has extensive video (available from the Cockos Reaper site), tons of documentation and a VERY active and helpful forum. There are other FREE DAWs of course, I've tried most of them Reaper is the best and most stable. Once you've done that, I can help with your Helix related Reaper questions.

Actually, I didn't say that, I advised not to. Did you see the screenshot of Focusrite Control that I posted? The SPDIF level was simply an A chord and had already dropped a bit as I scrambled to hit the screensave keys. Is that the level you're getting in Focusrite control?

ALRIGHT! The phantom uploads are gone and uploads are working again! Forum in general seems to be back up to speed. Thanks Tony1 Now that I know who you are, in the future I'll PM you if there are problems.

OK, seems to be working again, here's the screenshot of my Focusrite Control Screen.

Would someone be so kind to share a blank setlist with me?

Here ya go.... USER 5.hls -
When you run the updater, the instructions are right there.

The HX Stomp has limited MIDI capability. When you select a preset, it will send a MIDI Program Change message (PC#). That PC# is relative to the Stomp preset # and cannot be changed. For example - Stomp Preset 01A = PC#000;Preset 01B = PC#001 and so on. IOW - a different ES8 configuration requires a different corresponding Stomp preset - ES8 Preset PC#000 = Stomp Preset 01A.

You hook it all up using the 4 cable method: Guitar>Helix Input>Effects>(Helix Amp if desired)>FX Loop 1 Block>Helix Send 1>Amp Input>Amp FX Loop Send>Helix Return 1>Effects>Helix Left/Mono Out>Amp FX Loop Return If you want to be able to use the DSL preamp OR a Helix preamp/amp/amp+cab just place that amp block just prior to the FX Loop 1 Block. Then, with the amp block OFF and the FX Loop Block ON, assign BOTH to a single footswitch. You can now toggle between the DSL preamp and the Helix amp, both using the same effects and the DSL power section.

Even using a db meter, I find that presets where I use snapshots with Clean/crunch/distortion versions, distortion registers equal on the meter, but doesn't SOUND as loud, so I wind up using my ears anyway. I do think, however, that the Gain Reduction meters will be useful.

I guess I wasn't clear. All seven of my attempts to upload an image failed, yet they appear in My Attachments as Uploaded, and can even be opened. But they all appear with the message: "No locations to display. The content may not have been saved yet or may have been deleted."! So there's no way to delete them! And NONE of them actually made it into the target thread. The 116% message is a dead giveaway that there's something weird going on.... I know, defies logic, which is why I'm hoping that Tony is on the IT folks about it. Whatever they "fixed" the other day didn't solve the problem. And it took over two minutes to load your post......for comparison, TGP loads instantly.

@Line6Tony UPDATE Still can't upload an image. The image I last tried to upload actually uploaded - 7 times according to My Attachments, but still showing the message: "No locations to display. The content may not have been saved yet or may have been deleted." and telling me I've used 116% of my attachment quota. Any news from IT?

Go over to The Gear Page - Digital and Modeling forum. In the big HELIX thread search for METERS. If you're REALLY bored, search for TUNER. For dessert search for Input Impedance. If you read for several hours a day it'll only take a couple of weeks to catch up. I'm exaggerating of course, but not by much.

You should back up your IRs, maybe take a screenshot so you remember where they were. The version gap doesn't matter. If fixing the problem is too much hassle, do what you want. But think about it - if it's NOT a configuration problem, then either your Helix or your 18i20 is defective. Don't you want to KNOW? As to the question, "Is the update worth it?" Get ready for "NO, it was a hassle!" from those who didn't follow the directions, and "YES, it's great!" from the majority who did. In the end, it's up to you. My car is a 2006. If somebody offered me a free 2020 model, but I had to wash it, I'd take it.

If you download and install HX Edit v2.82 and, after successful install, close HX Edit and run the Updater installed by HX Edit v2.82, and FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!! You shouldn't have any problems. Most of the people who've had problems, whether they admit it or not, blew the FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS part. I also think that there's a good possibility that the problem is with the Focusrite configuration. Make sure you've got the latest drivers. My 18i20 is 2nd gen, and I got no problems like you're having. If, after updating and checking the Focusrite drivers, you're still having a problem, we'll need to look at the configuration in Focusritr Control. Maybe by the time you've done all that the Upload function will be fixed (working with L6 on it) and I can send the screenshot of my configuration.

Just for kicks I clicked EDIT. The edit page came up with the message that I'd used all my attachment space, so I went to My Attachments and there's 7 attempts to upload my image, all with this message: No locations to display. The content may not have been saved yet or may have been deleted. I can't stop those ongoing upload attempts. The problem appears to be getting worse! Don't get me wrong - I'm a former IT guy myself, so I know these things are crazy. I'm retired, so I'm here all day to help resolve this!
-
It took nearly 30 seconds just to load the site - for comparison, TGP loads almost instantly. What's worse, the Insert Images function is GONE! Only the "Insert Other Media" function remains.
-
In Global Settings>Ins/Outs make sure that Digital Output is set to SPDIF, and put your level back to 0.0. Here's a screenshot of my Focusrite Control Screen. I'm using Output 3 because that's where my FRFR112 is: OH DRAT! The Upload function is STILL broke! If you PM me a real email address I'll send it that way.

Yes. No. Maybe. Are you using a Diezel V4 or a Fender HRD? Only thing to do is experiment.
