I seem to have missed something. You originally wanted to know: 1) how to adjust the Global Output Level, to raise it across all presets, preferably from a globally assigned footswitch. We've established that you can't do that, but the Global EQ can be used to raise the level across all presets. You just have to turn it on and set it at the beginning of the gig. FWIW - this solves the universal problem of "My amp was loud enough in the first set, but now it isn't!" Just increase the level in the Global EQ. 2) A Gain Boost for Leads. We've established that it can't be done Globally, but if you create a template with a Gain Boost (either a Gain Block or FS assigned to preset Output Level) and use it to create new presets, that pretty much does the same thing. What you're now asking seems to be something new?

Yes, but you can't turn it on/off with a footswitch. It solves the problem of needing an overall higher level at a specific gig, but not needing a lead boost. If you'd rather not use a gain block, you can assign the Level in the Output Block to a footswitch. Set the Min (OFF) to 0db and the Max (ON) to whatever you need. Either way, you might want to consider creating a Template that uses this and your other most common settings, then use that as a starting point when creating new presets. That won't help if you want to use other people's presets, but what fun is that anyway?

Short answer - NO. BUT.....you can use the Global EQ to adjust for a given room, including Level.

You can configure Helix to have 4 snapshots on the top and 4 stomps on the bottom, or the reverse. You use snapshots to make the major changes, then use the stomps to toggle certain effects within a snapshot. If you put snapshots on the top, then in the preset, put the stomps you want visible in the snapshot on the bottom, and vice versa. You can configure the snapshot buttons to re-load the snapshot, or not. Say you've used the stomps to toggle 2 effects OFF (or ON), at different times, then you want them both back on at once. If the snapshot is set to re-load on second press, you'll get back the saved version of the snapshot UNLESS you've configured the individual stomps to IGNORE snapshot changes, or you've set the Global setting to RECALL, in which case even if you change snapshots, those pedals will retain their settings. even if you return to the original snapshot where you made the changes. Sound complicated? Set up your preset and snapshots. In Global Settings, on the PREFERENCES page experiment with the "Snapshot Edits" and "Snapshot Reselect" settings to see how the Snapshots and Stomps behave with the different settings. Then go back to the signal chain view, select an effect to which a Stomp is assigned, press "ACTION" and play with the "Snapshot Bypass" setting. All three of these settings interact to determine Stomp behavior when changing snapshots. Mix and match for YOUR use case. As for changing Amp Gain levels with Snapshots, if you're making radical changes (super clean to full gain), it's best to use two amps rather than tie the GAIN parameter to Snapshots. As discussed in another current thread about noisy snapshot changes, it's less noisy that way.

I'm in the other camp. I see an amp model as being like a photograph. If you take a picture of a person with a wart on their nose, then photoshop the wart away, it's no longer a true picture of that person. If L6 were to photoshop the amp models, then somebody would post the above examples of real models and say "SEE, it's not an accurate model because it doesn't make that noise!". It sounds like you've figured it out. I figure, "if it was good enough for Malcolm....." :-)

The Gear Page>Digital and Modeling Gear>Line6 Helix https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/line6-helix.1586637/ The Big Dogs of Line6 monitor that thread and post there regularly. There's threads for all the current L6 products. This forum is mainly users helping users, and not frequented by the Big Dogs nearly as often as TGP.

Wonder Warthog would disagree.....

If you've done the search for "squirrels" as I suggested above, and perused the results, you've noticed that whenever anyone brought this up (just the result of good modeling) they were roundly beaten on by those who wanted Helix to be defective, and didn't get that the competition NOT having "squirrels" didn't necessarily mean what they wanted it to mean. TBH - every posted example baffled me because, to me, it just sounded like a real amp.

Check the "Input Gate" on the Input Block.

Nobody here to hear your plea! Go Here: https://line6.ideascale.com/ Search for each item and vote. If you don't find the item, create a new item. Don't list them all at once. I, for one, NEVER vote for multiples, but will vote for individual listings if I agree.

So, you plugged the TRS end to the EXT AMP 1, and the two mono ends to Ch1 and Ch2. With the guitar plugged into the amp input, did it switch channels as expected? With the HX plugged into the amp input, you still had the problem? If that's the case, I'm baffled. As I see it, you have two choices. Use the MIDI switcher solution (VDL Control or similar) as the manual suggests, or contact Mesa support on one end and L6 support on the other and try to get it worked out. Good Luck! If you get a solution, PLEASE post back here for the benefit of others in your situation. Thanks!

That's what the manual says. You should contact support to see if that has been fixed.

There's another thread on here somewhere wherein someone pointed out this from the manual: (Note that, at this time, Amp control messages are not transmitted per snapshot when assigned to an instant command; only when assigned to a footswitch.) I advised him to contact support to see if that had been fixed in a recent update, but he never replied back. You should contact support and ask them to verify if it's been fixed. Before you can use the EXTERNAL AMP switching function, you'll need to use a multi-tester to figure out how the three button Supersonic footswitch works. It may be possible to use the VDL to control the Supersonic, but first you need to figure out how the footswitch works.

HXS Stereo Looper uses one block. An external stereo looper would probably require 2 blocks. The MC6 would make the HXS Looper easier to use. The Ditto X2 is more powerful and probably easier to use than the HXS Looper. HXS Loop time is 60 seconds mono, 30 seconds stereo. Ditto X2 Loop time is 5 minutes (mono?). Ditto allows import and export of loops, HXS does not. HXS allows you to change presets WHILE looping, but if you STOP the loop, THEN change presets, the loop is gone. SUMMARY: I'm not really into looping, but if I was, I'd use an external Looper. The HXS Looper is essentially a scratchpad for messing with musical ideas. I don't think it was ever intended as a LIVE PERFORMANCE tool. Without an external controller like the MC6 it's a PITA to use. EDIT: before someone jumps in and contradicts me on the loop lost if you stop then change presets statement, that was possible up until v2.80, which broke that capability. I have reported it to support, it's been verified and referred up the support chain.

Here's a screenshot of what the Ableton configuration would look like. If you have a MONO block at the end of your signal chain, all tracks would be identical.

Google translate dit que nous sommes d'accord.

Re-install the drivers by re-installing HX Edit. I would install the latest version (2.82), THEN update the firmware to 2.82. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS! Most of the major update problems with v2.82 are a direct result of people NOT FOLLOWING THE DIRECTIONS! Did I mention....FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!!!!!???

When you change PRESETS there's a momentary audio dropout while the presets unload and load. When you change SNAPSHOTS there's no audio dropout because the PRESET doesn't unload. A SNAPSHOT changes the parameter settings of a loaded PRESET. You can assign up to 64 (IIRC) parameters to a SNAPSHOT, across multiple effects. For instance, you might have an overdrive OFF for Rhythm1; ON for Rhythm2; ON with higher gain and mid-boost settings for Lead. One place you might have strange results is if you change the speed of a delay with a snapshot while a note is repeating. I'm going to recommend that you read the manual and watch Jason Sadites' videos on using Helix products. Concerning SNAPSHOTS, all the same rules and methods apply across all Helix products, there's just less SNAPSHOTS on the HXS than on the full size versions.
-
If it's not visible in your signal flow, how do you know that it's the Simple Delay?
-
That's because the HXS is in Stomp Mode and he's using an external switch to change the Snapshots. If the HXS was in Snapshot mode all the switches would be white.

Not sure what you're asking. There's two types of stage monitor, the ones controlled by FOH (typically where performers hear their vocals), and the instrumentalist's amplifiers. Typically, you'd use the XLR Out to send signal from Helix to FOH, and 1/4" Out to stage amp or powered monitor. FOH can then put Helix into the stage monitors if/as required, while the performer controls the stage level of his/her amplifier separately. Headphone out should not be needed. Or am I misunderstanding the question?

The devil is in the details. If you use the Focusrite for recording, set the Focusrite as your soundcard in Windows, connect the LT and headphones to the Focusrite, and use the mix knob on the Focusrite. If you're using the LT for recording, set the LT as the soundcard in Windows, in Global Settings>Ins/Outs on the LT set "USB 1/2 Destination" to wherever the speakers are connected, set "Headphones Monitor Multi"and plug the headphones into the LT. In either case, use the Level on the app (YT, Spotify, whatever) to control the streaming level into the AI.

Do a search here and on the big Helix thread over on TGP for "Squirrels". Grab a beer, kick back and Have Fun!

If you attach the preset, someone can look at it. Without the preset, it's like trying to tweak the sound of a fart on the moon. :-)
