but to answer the question ---- you aren't comparing apples and oranges. you are comparing apple ipods to stuffed orangutans you are basically asking - i bought dale earnhardt's race car, why am i not a champion racer.

musical instruments/gear/technology is always behind the times. It is also slow moving and long lasting. Gear is not cars, nor is it even iPhones. There is no difference between the ones built in 2013 and the ones built today. In fact.,.. funny story..... there is only a slight difference between the ones made in 2010 and the ones built today. That "slight" difference is the reason why some units are named with an X in their name. (ie, HD500 vs HD500x) And it wasn't a planned change. It goes back to what I first said - music tech is slow moving. In this case, so slow moving, the manufacturer of one of the parts quit making the part. So L6 had to get a more modern part to use in the unit. Funny story #2 Do you know why musical instruments no longer use floppy disks? NO ONE USES FLOPPY DISKS ANYMORE. No, seriously. That is why. MIDI tech is so small, that the floppy disk was all that was needed. It was used up until Microsoft and Dell got together and stopped putting floppy drives as standard equipment in computers. Sure, if you wanted to use wave tech (such as MP3), you weren't using a a floppy. So, sure, other devices were using USB and CD. But floppy was the "norm". I mean, even the L6 patches weigh in at a whopping 5kb. A floppy disc could hold a lot of L6 patches.

Apple. When there is a problem, it is always Apple's fault. But we can't get the Church of Apple zealots to see that.

Many retailers have been selling them with the model packs, not just for Christmas... so, that makes me ask - are they already active? do you know how to tell if they are or aren't?

You've said this before. But.... You're wrong. That IS the sound they hear. Sure, your sound man is making adjustments as the night goes on. But it is still your sound he is putting out. And, do you really want to be "that guy". The one that is too lazy to adjust his own patches, forcing the sound guy to constantly "earn his pay". Besides, the mix will be thrown off until he gets it adjusted. ~~ perfect night. perfect crowd. perfect setlist. and you turn on your patch, and you ruin it.
-
so, in other words.... instead of adjusting the volume of your patches, you are just going to walk to a different place where it isn't as loud?

particularly since the account was just created the day of the post, lol there's literally nothing there except the one post damn privacy idiots. i am going to post pictures of what i eat for lunch, and then complain that people know what i eat for lunch.

first, to fix the ibanez "mud", change the magnet in the pickup. it is far cheaper. in fact, i have one where i didn't even buy a magnet. i just swapped the magnets from the two pickups. wiring can tricky. because one thing can feed another thing. so, what you hear isn't this one thing, it is the combination of things. changing one thing, changes them all. and then, sometimes you go messing with "default" jobs. and you find that the original wiring was setup ... a five position switch for 2 humbuckers, allowing coil splitting. but the pickup you want to replace it with isn't designed for coil splitting. So, now, you have two positions that give you grief.

In-ear monitors/hearing protection for lives sets and rehearsals
pianoguyy replied to ABailey12's topic in Line 6 Lounge
one link is to youtube, and it talks about hearing loss from outside noises. if you are ampless, you don't really have outside noises anymore. i am not clicking on the other link, but i assume it is to some sort of advertisement for an IEM. Which, if you ask me, has nothing to do with the youtube video. but... to answer the question.... know what you need before you get them. -
And, if possible, use a recorded loop for the playing part. That way you can concentrate on the editing part. It makes life easier if you can focus on one thing at a time. Plus, you know that a recording will always be the same thing over and over. Ok, sure, different tones may require different playing techniques which will alter the volume. So, it isn't necessarily a full-proof method. But at least it is fool-proof. It will get you pretty close. Just then need to fine tune manually.

You can say that, but I got an email from L6 saying.... I don't remember what it said. But, to paraphrase, it said don't do it.

HD500X Massive Volume Difference When Footswitching Presets vs. HD Edit
pianoguyy replied to andrewwildman's topic in POD HD
did you remember to 'send' the presets to the unit -
The programming is already in the unit (if you have the latest firmware). You need a license to make the programming available to you.

You can use it on multiple units. I believe 4 units is the limit. But they all have to be on the same account. In other words, you and your buddy can't share. Puedes usarlo en mĂșltiples unidades. Creo que 4 unidades es el lĂmite. Pero todos tienen que estar en la misma cuenta. En otras palabras, usted y su amigo no pueden compartir.

Are Presets Interchangeable Between Hd500/500x And Hd Pro?
pianoguyy replied to thompsondd's topic in POD HD
i didn't own a L6 product in 2013 when this thread was created, so I don't know why so many people gave the answers they gave. But, today, 2019.... The four units (500/x/pro/x) are all compatible with each other (assuming one has kept up to date with the firmware). There are 3 things to be mindful of: 1. The file explorer will not recognize the file extensions other than for the EDIT unit you have opened (as example 500 EDIT will only see 500 files). You need to either use the drag-n-drop method, or you need to rename the file extensions. 2. The two floor units have a few minor hardware differences from the two rack units (as example, footswitches). So, while the software is the same, it is possible that a patch may not work as designed. 3. Due to supply issues with the original parts, the two X units were given a bit more processing power (which is why the name was amended instead of changed, it wasn't actually a new/different product). While you are still limited to 8 fx and two amps on all 4 units, it is possible (however unlikely) that an X patch will not function on a non-X device. This can be "fixed" by opening a patch in offline mode, and removing/changing an effect -- just make sure you close EDIT before you plug the unit back in to your computer.- 16 replies

It is usable for vocals. is it good enough??? well, that depends on what you need it to do. i mean, as amazing as the unit is for a guitar, there are things that it just doesn't do for the guitar. vocals effects are far less abundant in the device. so, the vocal usage is going to be far more limited. if I was looking for a dedicated vocal device, this is not what I would use. But it is usable for vocals.

If you can't afford the $50 for the metal pack.... nah. It's too easy. I can't make fun of the poor guy. I think his life is pathetic enough without having us poke fun.
-
both of your problems may or may not be a problem. correct. any time you plug in from one device to another device, you are going to need to make eq adjustments. correct. it is called ear fatigue. the tone coming from the device is the same. your ears are just worn out and are perceiving it differently. **unless you are using tube amps, then the sound of the amps will change as the tubes heat up.
-
but are you connected to EDIT when using the exp pedal
-
this seems backwards, as you already have the unit working in terms of computer connectivity. why wait. reset it now. there is no "factory reset" but there is a 2-procedure process we call factory reset however, this doesn't mean you are going to like the factory presets either. you can't "delete" patches. at least not in the common sense. you can only overwrite them. so, most of us have a 'new tone' saved (the blank patches that come, with the unit) which we use to "delete".

why would you want to listen through your computer? do you have some kind of special speakers set up or something. because my tiny little 1 inch speakers aren't going to cut it.

here ya go this is how you use a "global" pedal setting buy your favorite analog pedal(s). insert them into the chain.
