  1. The latest Helix firmware is 2.21. On your computer, you should be running the latest Helix Editor version 2.21. The latest version Updater, and Drivers are differently (lower) numbered releases. These are all indicated in the software downloads area on the Line 6 site regarding the Helix. Line 6 has already announced that the next version of the Helix firmware and Helix Editor software will be version 2.30. There is no timeline that has been announced for their release, other than Line 6 stating that once Helix Native has proven to be stable in the marketplace, the forthcoming firmware and accompanying Helix Editor software will be released. The forthcoming Helix Editor software 2.30 will be a new version that has been overhaulded and will share many of the same graphic user interface features as now seen in the just released Helix Native software plugin.
  2. For their price, the JBL Control 2P are impressive. The JBL LSR305 near field Studio Monitors are in an entirely different league. The LSR305 (and LSR308) Studio Monitors are phenomenal and work exceptionally well with the Helix. I had sets of both LSRs and a pair of Yamaha HS8 to compare for several weeks. I preferred the JBL LSR308. The others went back. The LSR308s are my near field monitors for the Helix Floor.
  3. Edited after re-reading OP's post.... I'm presuming the Helix's 1/4" L/Mono Main Out is the one now exhibiting the problem. It is quite possible the Marshall's Spkr Out Voltage and Amperage cooked the Helix's Send/Return. Check to see if the Helix's Main XLR Outs may still be working. You may also want to try changing the Global Output Settings to see if changing the defaults may accomplish recovering the Output. A Reset of your Helix may not be a bad idea also, just to see if that may recover the L/Mono 1/4" Out. However, if the Output electronics are cooked, a software reset will not remedy the scenario.
  4. Yup. If it is a new Helix Floor, there will be the thin plastic film on the Scribble Strips and the Main Display screen. It is easy to remove and replace with inexpensive and common Protective Film as used for Tablets. Simply razor cut to size and apply. I did the same for the main display screen. All from a sheet of Tablet protective film for a 12" Samsung Tablet. There may be sufficient material from a 10" tablet. Simply measure before you buy to be sure.
  5. The Line 6 Helix Backpack holds a bunch of additional gear in addition to the Helix! The Helix is safely nestled in the fully padded main compartment. The two exterior compartments can hold plenty more gear. And, when loaded the pack very nicely stands vertically on the four bottom rectangular feet. The top and side handles make it easy to grab and carry and the shoulder straps, are there if you you need them. I've never worn mine on my back, so the straps remain tucked away and out of sight.
  6. You do not "have to pay over 300 dollars for Native." LT owners may buy Helix Native for $299 (which is not "over 300 dollars"). Helix Floor and Rack owners may buy Helix Native for $99. If you feel Helix Native may be useful for you, try the Free 15 Day Trial. Then consider returning your LT for a Helix Floor.
  7. The next iteration(s) of Helix series 2 firmware should have some nice additions. If I recall correctly, DI has already mentioned that there are 5 Amps and 7 FX forthcoming in 2.30, with more to follow.... By the time Helix Core (firmware) 3.0 arrives (perhaps later this year), we are certain to be enjoying big grins.
  8. Disregard those posts from the malcontents! The QSCs are amongst the very good FRFR products. As are the Yamahas, JBLs, StageSource, EV. and many others. Granted these are distinct from the actual Amp In The Room (AITR) experience, or using an Amp and Cab. Nonetheless, they do an exceptional job with the Helix and other modeling units. Some prefer the Mic'd Sound from the FRFR method. Others prefer AITR. Use what suits you best. There are no rules!
  9. What system are you using? OS? Display resolution?
  10. Yup! The DXR10 works great with the Helix. I have two. They are exceptional! And, there's a Yamaha Rebate program ongoing through the end of September. I believe it is a $50 Rebate VISA card for each DXR10.
  11. You've got several options. I have v.2 Mustangs (MIV and MII) with switchable FX Loop positions. Not sure how the v.1 Mustangs FX Loop postion is set up. You can come into the Mustang's FX Loop from the Helix and select the Basic Studio Preset if your Mustang has that Preset. If not, use the cleanest Preset your Mustang offers and try the Mustang Amp's Advanced Settings Parameter to disable the Cab Sim. Also try the Mustang with the Cab Sim enabled. You can also try coming in to the Mustang's front Instrument Input, and again, try to use the various Presets to find one that works for you. In this case, disable the Helix's Amp Cab selections, and explore using the Helix as an FX Pedal board. Another method is to come into the Mustang's AuxIn from the Helix's L&R Outputs. This will bypass all the Mustang's DSP and Tone Stac. Thus the only knob on the Mustang that will be active will be the Master Volume knob. In this context, you would explore the Helix's Amps and FXs, and you could also explore the Helix's Cabs. The Mustang as a Powered CAb does work well with the Helix once you dial in in for your tastes and Music style(s).
  12. Me too! And, now again I'm considering expanding my DXR Family.
  13. And there's a Yamaha Rebate program ongoing through the end of September!
  14. I too have encountered this on a regular basis. Both using the Presets Knob, and using the Joystick to select from amongst, for instance, Amps or Cabs from the Block Models list. The interruption is momentary and resolves when retrying the encoder. I submitted this on a Support Ticket to Line 6 in late November or December, so they are aware of it -- at least once. This symptom is more of an annoyance than a show stopper. It seems to be more of a scenario where some of the increment/decrement pulses generated by either encoder knob (Presets or Joystick) are not properly being read and handled by the firmware. This strikes me as more of a coding optimization issue than a hardware problem, and perhaps a consequence of the current Series 2 firmware (presently at 2.21). Hopefully this will be solved in an upcoming firmware release. The far more serious boot failure error repored by the OP, thankfully, I have not enountered.
  15. For near field use, a pair of JBL LSR305 are an outstanding choice and very reasonably priced.

    Helix

For home use, any of the many reasonably priced near field powered Studio Monitors are exceptional! The majority of these, however, lack grille covers and are not robustly construced for gig use. Thus, for gigs the speakers are at risk. You may wish to consider a set of 8" or 10" powered FRFR Monitors that provide physical protection for the transducers. Exceptional speakers are offered by Yamaha, QSC, Line 6, JBL and others. Most of these also have DSP to address different applications. As others have already pointed out it all comes down to your budget, and size and weight of the Monitors. For near field use I use a set of JBL LSR308 Studio Monitor. Otherwise, my normal system with the Helix is a pair of Yamaha DXR10 FRFR Monitors.
  17. @Karis_shem, outstanding configuration and install! Very nice!
  18. @marmatkat you may also post your comment here: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/helixs-tuner-how-do-you-feel-about-its-stability.1825918/#post-24100035 As you may know, several Line 6 reps participate on TGP. The above notwithstanding, I remain optimistic that after the current priorities of releasing Helix Native and subsequently firmware 2.3 w/ the overhauled Helix Editor, that improved stability of Helix Tuner's display (perhaps w/ some Display Options) may be on Line 6's To Do List for Helix's generation 3 series of Helix Core firmware.

  20. There is always the possibility of last minute scheduling conflicts. Nonetheless, the Tone Made Pro schedule is established by Line 6. The Managers of the individual GC store locations are only aware that their location will be the site for an hour long event. More than that, the other employees at each store may not be informed. The one I attended was very informative. See my earlier post in this thread. If the GC location where you have registered and plan to attend the Tone Pro event on Line 6's schedule is a long drive from your location, there's no harm in contacting that GC location several hours before the event to confirm that it is still "On" and that Line 6's rep has not had a last minute need to cancel.
  21. Are the freezing problems you are experiencing with the Helix Control unit occurring only when external Pedals (and their connecting cables) are connected?

    Where is Native?

Do not for a moment overlook that Line 6 has multiple development tracks ongoing in the Helix software arena! Aside from the current focus on Helix Native being based on the Helix Core development to consolidate the engine behind all things Helix (Software and Hardware), there has been plenty of effort regarding firmware 2.30 and the newly overhaulded Helix Editor to be released with firmware 2.30. Helix Native is currently in Beta testing and is intended to be released to be stable on the currently existing Helix firmware version 2.21, and to run on both Windows and Mac across a wide array of PC hardware configurations. Also underway are development efforts on firmware (aka Helix Core) 3.0, and the entire overhaul of the firmware, updating, backup/restore, and IR management Helix aspects! As if these are not sufficient to make most dev teams heads spin, there are also whatever Amps, Cabs, FX, Revebs, and other new features and enhancements in the pipeline of these releases. That's a massive amount of work! I'm delighted that Helix owners have been and will continue to be the beneficiaries of these enhancements and improvements -- regardless of when these arrive! If the time lines shift a month or so further along, this is of little consequence to me. Getting it right is far more important than getting it out the door!
