  1. I'm not sure what you mean by dual-action rod? According to psarkissian, it seems to be a standard rod that tightens in one direction and loosens in the other. That's consistent with my 69 and 89 which both adjust at the headstock. A neck that I got from Warmouth has a twin truss rod, but it has two access points. One at the heel, and one on the lower side.
  2. It works, but not when I preprogram JTV models and settings into my Helix patches, which is what I do. I've gotten so addicted to the ease of preprogramming everything and not having to make any changes at the guitar, that I've given up the freedom that comes with being wireless.
  3. This used to happen to me all the time, even with my standard pedal board. I'd get all plugged in and no sound. Unplug and replug in the G10, and I'd be ready to go. I wish the G10 worked with my Variax. It's collecting dust since I got my JTV.
  4. This is how I have my Helix set. The top four buttons control individual effects in the preset. The bottom four buttons let me switch snapshots within the preset. So if you want access to the snapshots then yes, you only have four buttons for effects left. You can assign more than one effect to a button. So you can turn more than one on and off together. But that would be the only way to increase the number of effects you can control and still have access to changing snapshots.
  5. Here's a full song from my band from a gig last month. I get a little feedback from my DXR12 and use my wammy bar to get a little weird. Fun stuff.
  6. What DD meant to say was "You will see a set of instructions for Helix Editor 2.21."
  7. Here's a video of my last band during a St. Patrick's Day gig last month. It's a medley of solo's that I put together. I'm using my Variax JTV69, my amp on a pole is behind me, and my Helix is on the floor.
  8. Well I don't know if I ever posted what you heard, but I did attend the Helix Master Class at Line 6 hdq's and I did ask for and got the entire set list of patches that were used during a demonstration by Paul H. Since the class you are discussing, does use a bunch of patches to match popular songs and artist styles, you could probably do the same thing and ask the presenter for them. It wouldn't hurt. Truthfully, I've been so busy with different things that I never loaded those patches into my Helix. Now that you reminded me, I think I may do that tomorrow.
  9. I bought a new VDI cable from the Line 6 website a few months ago and I've had no problems with either of my JTV's, 69 and 89F. It's a fairly well built cable, much more so than an earlier Line 6 cable that I had. It seems strange that the ones from Sweetwater would be different.
  10. I've never seen a "connection timed out" error message. That sounds like it might be a computer problem. You might try a different USB cable just to eliminate that. Sorry, that 's all I've got.
  11. I'd like more, for pretty much the same reasons. If I spend the time rotating through what I have, I'll usually find one that is just perfect for what I was looking for. But it takes time and lots of IR's. I'd probably be okay with one more setlist of 128.
  12. That description doesn't say if it's a neck or bridge pup. Does that mean both the neck and bridge are the same pup?
  13. What will stop you is that eventually the internet gods will find out. They will castrate you publically, then drag your body through forum after forum, thread after thread, while exercising their divine right to humiliate you for their own entertainment. Remember the episode of a guy that bought effect pedals and repackaged them, and sold them as boutique for a lot more money?
  14. So the vocalist would need two mics, one going into the Zoom and one going into a room PA? Or I guess you could take the ouput of the PA mixer and send the vocals to the Zoom recorder. How do you do it? I've been looking for a way to get a little better recording of our rehearsals, then just a small Tascam sitting in the middle of the room. I'm always trying to angle it to adjust the mix.
  15. With this mixer, can you send individual tracks out to the room PA, or do you have to send all of the tracks to the PA?
  16. I like to keep my guitar volume down around 6 or 7 so I have a little room to adjust. Sometimes when I get with the band and I suddenly can't hear myself, I'll crank the guitar volume and create too much over drive with certain patches to the point of becoming muddy and losing definition. Is it possible your guitar volume was higher than when you built the patch? Also, the amp master volume controls amp distortion, so if you want cleaner, lower the amp master volume and raise the amp channel volume.
  17. I redid my preset using two Helix cabs and I like it even better. Here's a link: http://line6.com/customtone/tone/3013330/
  18. I used your settings as a base, but then did a bunch of tweaking, including changing the amp to the Solo Lead. I used a neck humbucker to build the patch. It seems to work pretty good as a standard blues rock preset that cleans up with the volume knob and has enough grit for leads by just turning the guitar volume back up. I'm not sure how to link what I uploaded to CustomTone, but I'll give it a try: http://line6.com/customtone/tone/3013271/
  19. It sure sounds like he's asking for the amp in a room experience.
  20. What I don't like about the current Helix set up is the sound drop out that I get when the wah is first engaged.
  21. I've had my Helix floor for about 10 months. It's frozen on me about six times. Most recently at rehearsal the other night. I'm on FW 2.21, so it's up to date on that. By freezing I mean it won't let me switch screenshots or patches, but I still have the sound of the last screenshot that I was in. So I can finish the song that we're playing. Rebooting always clears it up and puts me back in business. But it is a disruption when it happens with the band. There's lots of guys with this same complaint. So I'm not sure if you have a defective unit or not.
  22. I've had problems with high gain patches turning to mud while playing with the band. My first mistake that I made when trying to fix things was turning up my guitar volume. That just made things worse. Some general ideas: make all of your volume increases after the amp, so you're not messing with the tone, just the volume. I like adjusting my patch volume at the output, after all effect blocks. boost presence, treble and mid highs a touch lower bass, gain and master volume a touch increase channel volume a touch add a noise gate for the hiss
  23. When you update the editor, won't the driver come with it? Or is that a separate download?
