I had the same thing happen to me last night, I dropped an IR block in an existing patch and got the screech when I changed the ir parameter. Craig
-
There's a free ir on the HK site to match the red box di. I use it to listen to patches on headphones instead of going into my TM36. Craig

I have a Bodyrez on my acoustic board too, I'm not sure how but it just seems to sprinkle fairy dust on it!

Isn't the fact that all guitars are different the excuse we use to have so many? I'm not really getting the desire to make different guitars sound the same. Craig

There's no smd's nearby in the Helix but it was still a difficult job, a desoldering station would have made it easier.
-
Good point but we never do :-)

Do yourself a favour and spend $3 on a right angled USB cable before it's too late! I knocked my plug and broke the connector and even though I have the soldering skills, the socket was a pain to replace. A right angle plug eliminates the possibility of it happening again Craig

I don't think you do, I discovered that when I put a delay in a parallel path with the aim of keeping my direct signal as clean as possible that the volume dropped. I put a 3.5dB gain block in the straight through and used the delay with mix to 100 and switched it in by switching it's level up and down. Craig
-
I also think that a Y split gives -3dB on each path so there'll be less drive to the amps. Craig

Is the Helix send/return set to line level not instrument? Craig

Even though my main guitar is active, I leave the pad off because it gives me a unity gain path to the front of my amp in 4CM. Craig

When I first took a packet on a cycling holiday to clean my bike everybody thought it was a bit weird, they all ended up borrowing them by the end though! Craig
-
Exactly, that's the whole point of wanting to reflect the impedance of the next device in the chain (as long as it's active) Craig
-
I think I'll order a new one anyway, it looks like a simple enough soldering job.
-
Sounds like you need babywipes then hideout, get Johnsons because they're cloth whereas some other brands use a paper material. Craig
-
Yes, just make sure you get original ones not the ones with moisturisers. I go through packets of them cleaning my bikes! Craig
-
I've not found anything that can't be cleaned with baby wipes. Craig

I've got to agree, I don't see anything wrong with making all effects simulate true bypass, after-all who ever bought a pedal cos of the way it sounds when it was off? I believe that the impedance circuit is a bunch of resistors switched in and out to suit so giving every pedal it's own impedance would require hardware mods so won't happen. So I agree that reflecting the impedance of the first active block would seem to be the best solution. Craig

It didn't without the plastic piece because that provides the pressure for the connections but it is working with it glued back in. The idea behind getting a right angle cable is that It wouldn't be able to put as much leverage on the socket. Craig
-
I caught my USB plug with my foot the other night and broke the plastic spacer from the centre of it. Luckily I found the piece and superglued it back in place and it seems to be ok for now. I have ordered a right angle cable though which should prevent it happening again. Craig

Or buy a can of compressed air from the electronics shop. Craig

I only mentioned Steely Dan earlier in this thread and now I have just heard that Walter Becker has died, very sad. Craig
-
So what did Steely Dan use all those years ago? Craig

Speakon plugs generally use grub screw and allen key terminals so correcting the pinouts shouldn't be much of a problem if they're wrong. Craig
