Boot failure, device not connected . TIP to resolve
datacommando replied to Punkyboy's topic in Helix
Hi, You say that you just got your Helix LT today and you went to update the Firmware to 3.11, but you didn't say what version was already installed. If it was pre 2.80 you may encounter some problems. There was a major change to the Core operating system back on v2.80 and the information about the "Boot Failure" is documented in the Release Notes. It is also documented in the Release notes for 3.11. Quote: "My Helix/HX is at version X.XX. Can I go straight to 3.11. Absolutely, but note that if you're starting with a version lower than 2.80, the update will appear to happen twice. This is normal." In the Official Notes for Updating Helix/HX it states: IMPORTANT! In the unlikely event that your update fails, please follow the steps below: Unplug the USB cable from both the back of your Helix and the computer. Turn your Helix/HX device off and on. Reconnect the USB cable to your Helix/HX device and the computer. Download, install, and launch the latest version of Line 6 Updater. In a failure state, the device will not connect to HX Edit. Line 6 Updater for macOS: https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=9831 Line 6 Updater for Windows: https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=9832 Select your device and try updating to the latest firmware again. If the device does not show up in Line 6 Updater after these steps, try a different USB cable and/or USB port. If it still doesn't show up, try a different computer. It's really useful to read all the documentation before performing firmware updates, so you don't encounter any unpleasant surprises. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
No "Switch Led" option under "HX Snapshot" in HX Edit
datacommando replied to Euripide's topic in Helix
Correct - it's not in mine either! What the funk is going on? Is it a bug that has been overlooked in HX Edit, because the ability to change the LED colour is there in the hardware from under the 'Customize" option? I'm baffled by this especially as the feature is documented, and the option is clearly visible in Steve's video demo, as shown in the OP's screen grabs. Right now I can live with this glitch, as it's not something that I particularly require and I don't regard it as mission critical, but if it should be there then it need fixing. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, There's a whole bunch of people over on the Farcebuck Helix Family Group spitting venom about other people posting the demo of this Fractal gizmo in the Helix threads. It's going along the lines of "Burn the Witch"! Anyhow if you want to hear it - it's no secret - there is an almost 10 minute video on Uchoob, by Brett Kingsman down in Melbourne AU. Search for "Fractal Audio: FM9 Amp Modeler / FX Processor" and you will find it. Also a longer, almost half hour demo from Leon Todd. I'm not impressed, it's got less footwswitches than the Helix and no built in EX Pedal. As noted by "cruisinon2" in the post above, - "Something new to specu-whine about...;)" Hmm... yawn... here we go again. EDIT: Re pricing. Considering the current state of the world, I would imaging the Fractal "should be about" price will go up. It's got a hundred quid variable in the guesstimate price anyhow. Hope this helps/makes sense

trying to use a Mission SP1-L6 pedal with HX Stomp XL
datacommando replied to paulbemi's topic in Helix
Hi, Well it may look like new condition, but if it fails to do what it is supposed to do, then you probably have a dud! It may be just the switch is faulty and needs to be replaced. If you have access to a circuit tester then simply give it a full health check. Looks aren’t everything, especially when it comes to stuff like this. Makes you wonder why the CL seller wanted to off load it? Plus, when something appears to be to good to be true, then it usually is. Caveat emptor. EDIT: IIRC, I saw a post on here recently where someone wanted to mod a wah pedal to use as an expression pedal. I think that there was a mention of the possibility of buying the switch circuitry direct from Mission to load into an old wah. If that’s a fact then you could simply transplant the new guts into the “like new” carcass. - Just a thought! -
No "Switch Led" option under "HX Snapshot" in HX Edit
datacommando replied to Euripide's topic in Helix
Huh? That’s really weird! When Steve Sterlacci first posted that Command Centre video on UChoob, back in April 2020, I followed along and created the 2 presets on my Floor unit. Worked perfectly, so Ireally don’t understand what is happening. It’s even more unusual, because it’s actually documented in both the Pilot’ Guide and Owner’s Manual. In fact, the firmware he was using at the time of the video was version 2.9. He has the presets for both on CustomTone - https://line6.com/customtone/profile/stalach/ Look for “HX Snapshot 1” and “HX Snapshot 2” - one is at the bottom of page 1 and the other is top of page 2. Need to investigate this a little more, but I’m not in the studio for another few hours yet. Then I will check it out to see if there is anything odd at this end. Yep, I also need to do a clear out of my attachments space as it is really inadequate for this site. L8r -
No "Switch Led" option under "HX Snapshot" in HX Edit
datacommando replied to Euripide's topic in Helix
Hi, HX Edit Pilot’s Guide V3.00 - Rev P - English Page 46 - Customizing a Footswitch LED color Highlighted in grey info panel states: “HX Stomp Owners: Footswitch LED color customization is not available on HX Stomp devices”. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, Most helpful, but did you note that this thread is 3 years old? Like shouting into an empty room.

No "Switch Led" option under "HX Snapshot" in HX Edit
datacommando replied to Euripide's topic in Helix
Hi, HX Edit Pilot’s Guide V3.00 - Rev P - English Page 46 - Customizing a Footswitch LED color Also. Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual - Rev E - English Page 47 - Customizing a Snapshot Footswitch Name and LED color If you cannot see this in HX Edit, then please ensure that the version you are using is exactly the same revision number as the firmware in your Helix floor. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
From the G66.eu website: “The price in Europe should be about EUR 1899-1999 (GBP 1599-1699) including VAT and 3-years' warranty.” but remember there is a waiting list, they’re not available yet, so maybe the price will change when it hits the streets. Meanwhile a Helix floor model is available now in the U.K. for £1,149.00. Check here: https://www.peachguitars.com/line-6-helix-floor-tour-grade-guitar-processor.htm?opt=11321 Gear 4 Music are slightly more expensive at £1,299, but they have 4 available in stock now. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Line-6-Helix/1AFI Just saying…

Hi, I’m not sure how much this is may be part of the issue, but back in June 2019 version 2.80 of the firmware was released. The thing of major importance was that the main Core of the operating system was change. Although it is stated that you can update from any version to the latest without any problems, I am not entirely convinced that this works totally as expected. My suggestion would be to tackle this issue by first taking your LT from 2.6 to 2.8 and then proceed to the latest revision. Please read, study and inwardly digest the all information given in the release notes for 2.8, so that you are not taken by surprise when the Core is swapped and it may look like the update has failed. Once you are at 2.8, you should be good to update to the latest revision of the firmware. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Short answer- no! There is no such thing. Helix LT, nor any others in the range, are Bluetooth equipped. All editing of the presets is done visa USB and the HX Edit software or on the hardware itself. It might be wise to have read through the owner’s manual to become familiar with what it can and cannot do. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f18374611d5dffd3a45/application/pdf/Helix LT 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev D - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense

Did the feel of the stock cabs improve with oversampling?
datacommando replied to mattbarden's topic in Helix
Nope, most likely the placebo effect. See response from “cruisinon2” above, plus “Digital Igloo” had also mentioned that most users wouldn’t even be able to tell that “oversampling” had been added to the firmware. -
You could have gone to Boss and checked out the spec for the correct answer. Katana Air Aux In is specified as -10dBu on a stereo mini jack. Also, using headphones out is just wrong. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Fine. Time to raise a ticket with Customer Support. Hope this helps/makes sense.

In case anyone thinks that this " Power surge on USB port" error is something new - here's a video from Feb 2019. Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
Yep, same thing as i recently posted above - there a lots and lots of instances of this reported if you Google it. One site states: "But there’s no need to panic. You’re not the only one. We’ve had many reports from Windows users about this error. You’ll be relieved to know it’s possible to fix it. Read on and see how." Here's the link to that one: https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/fix-power-surge-usb-port-error-windows-10/ Nobody seems to question if this actually could be brought about by a change in their Microsoft Windows system. It always appears as if people wish to blame Line 6. Believe me, it is not in their interests to screw stuff up. The OP is a case in point when he states: "I recently upgraded the firmware on my new HELIX (which of course bricked it, but I fixed it via the forums, others had the same issue)." I love the casual, almost throw away comment, "which of course bricked it"! Yeah, right, of course that usually seems to happen when people don't follow instructions and get it all wrong. Many thousands of users manage to perform updates without any problems at all. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Hmm… well, if you type “power surge on usb port windows 10” into Google you will get lots of hits, including this one. https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-uk/000149584/power-surge-on-the-usb-port-in-windows-10 If this was purely related to the Helix update, then I would expect these forums to be alive with complaints. AFAIK, yours is the first that I have seen. Probably “driver” error. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Can't get Helix Native to start after log in
datacommando replied to JamesM105496's topic in Helix Native
FYI, the OP was from a guy having this issue on a Hackintosh running Mojave, although you don't say what you're using, but if you have gone through it with support without a solution, you're stuck. If support don't know and you have checked all the ideas posted here then I guess your out of luck - Don't know what else you can do? -
Hi, I haven’t needed to, or have ever tried this, but obviously you can set your Helix Rack to receive digital input from the AES/EBU (110 Ohm XLR - NOT microphone cable) socket. The AES/EBU signal carries 2 channels of PCM audio which I guess would be left and right, depending on the original signal setting. All the signal paths in the Helix are stereo (unless you collapse them down to mono) so possibly it would just be a question of panning the inputs hard left and right. From there you could process each path as required. I would try it and then see what happens.

[Feature Request] Option For BPM Adjustment Knob Only Whole Numbers
datacommando replied to EndDays's topic in Helix
Hi, Nobody from Line 6 is likely to spot your request here as this is a user group and very rarely visited by Line 6 staff. The place to post suggestions for any changes is Ideascale. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/index Make sure no one else has posted a similar request as that will water down the votes. When you have done that you can add your suggestion to this area to let others know:- If you really don’t like turning dials you could always use HX Edit and use a keyboard to type in the specific BPM you require. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, Try this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lt4c1u5dd6e160e/HXEdit3.11.dmg?dl=0 Hope this helps/makes sense.

If none of the above suggestions has helped, then it’s time to raise a ticket with Customer Support. If this is an ongoing issue, it would be best to advise CS and make them aware of it, as they cannot fix things that they don’t know exist. This is a user group, Line 6 staff do not monitor these forums and therefore it is highly unlikely that they would ever see your post regarding the problem. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Helix USB Help - worked 2 days ago! 'No device connected'
datacommando replied to rohanmiller97's topic in Helix
“When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?” Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Must be Mac USB voodoo? Sorry, but I am at a loss to explain the recent developments that Apple have decided to thrust upon an unsuspecting user base. It would appear that when they change one small thing, the entire house of cards comes tumbling down. That's the reason why I refused to leave the established realm of OSX. I know all my stuff still works and don’t want to walk off the edge of a cliff into a spiral of depression that I’m almost certain will ensue thereafter. I have been a Mac user since the Mac Plus and used every model since, until this debacle with Big Sur. After all these years on the “bleeding edge” of technology - nope, not for me just yet, although I do realise some Mac users don’t have a choice about this move to the new system. You could raise a ticket with Customer Support
