  1. Hi Franz, You have posted your request to a thread that is 3 years old - last reply was 2017 Maybe you are unaware that posting this here is not enough, you actually have to post your ideas/request onto the IdeaScale site to be voted on. Find it here: https://line6.ideascale.com Ensure that nobody else has made the same request, and if they have you can vote it up. Afterwards you can post here, in the correct thread, to let other users know what you have asked for. That way, they can vote for it if they like the idea. https://line6.com/support/topic/14497-helix-ideascale-community-submissions/page/1/ Most of the latest effects and amps added to firmware 3.01 got into the Helix, because they started out on IdeaScale. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  2. Excellent, now we know that the hardware has not completely malfunctioned and it still works as a multi-effect and amp modelling box. The real issue that remains is a USB communication problem between both your Mac and/or PC and and the Helix. Now that is narrowed down to the basics, we can try to find a solution to the problem. Thanks for the clarification.
  3. Hi again, I realise that you are telling us that your Helix is failing to connect to your computer over USB. What is not clear to me is - does your Helix complete the boot routine showing the new screen, or does it fail with a completely blank screen? Also, if the Helix doesn’t start up correctly, did you try a factory reset using Foot Switches 5&12 while turning the power on?
  4. There are no Line 6 staff in here, only other HX users. You’re screaming into the void! As stated here, and in many other places, this is a known bug. If it’s a known issue, they will be working on it, and it’s not something that could be regarded as “mission critical” to the operation of your hardware. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  5. Hi, You can use the Hex/Allen key (which should have been in the box when you bought your Helix) and adjust to suit. The adjustment access is on the lower right hand side of the helix case. Hope this help/makes sense.
  6. Hi, It might be advisable to read the info contained on this site as it covers the things you are asking about, such as, if a real world amp doesn't have a presence control, but it is on the amp model in your Stomp. See here for all the "invented control" stuff: https://helixhelp.com/manuals/helix/the-blocks#common-amp-settings Hope this helps/makes sense Damn - too late - it's been done!
  7. Uh? 270 what? Gum drops, beans? Good luck with that, because anyone who owns a HX product can buy it for $99.99 in the on line store in the link at the top of the page. There was a guy here a couple of weeks back - might be worth a shot,
  8. I find it a little hit and miss. There have been times when I was trying to find a way back to something I read from a couple of months earlier. Even if I entered a “key word” which I definitely knew was in the post - nothing comes up. Other times, you can enter a search term and it will find hundreds of totally unrelated links. Not logical, Captain.
  9. You might be misunderstanding how the reset function works. It doesn’t revert the firmware to version 1. First you need to eliminate things that may be the cause of the problem. But before anything else, as mentioned by “HonestOpinion” in the post above, please ensure that you have HX Edit v.3.0 installed. Then remove the USB cable from your Helix and computer. Now, turn your Helix off and then on. Next, reconnect the USB to the Helix and computer. Launch HX Edit 3.0 and see if it connects now. If not read on. When you installed the new v.3.01 firmware, on completion your Helix Floor unit should have restarted and gone through the process of rebuilding the Presets. You will also notice the new startup screen so that you can be certain that you’re running 3.01. If your unit has successfully performed this routine, then the hardware should be ready to use.if not the; there could be an issue with the hardware, or the USB connection. There are several Reset Options including one which restores the factory settings.- see list. Reset Options Helix Floor/LT Button Combination Description 2 LED light Fun 3 & 4 Test Mode 5 & 6 Global reset 7 & 8 Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs 8 & 9 Reset setlists to factory, Clear IRs 9 & 10 Reset setlists to factory, Global reset, Clear IRs 10 & 11 Upgrades existing presets to latest format 11 & 12 Clear current preset 5 & 12 Clear setlists, clear IRs, Return system settings to default 6 & 12 Safe boot mode To use Reset Options: Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination Please note: Buttons are numbered from top left to bottom right. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. Hi P1KW, I am happy to know that you have managed to get Native to work correctly. My concern is that you may lose all your authorisations by having to perform the de-authorise and re-authorise to make it work. I also agree that these errors are very similar, and performing authorisation over the internet is risky even in 2020. Not everyone has a good connection, and also anti-virus and firewall protection may interfere with the process. As Line 6 and Steinberg are part of the same group then it should not require this. I hope that Line 6 Customer Service reinstate your authorisation credit. I was joking about the “down vote” as it is very easy to do something like that when you are unfamiliar with the way things work. ;-) Good luck.
  11. Hi Leroy, Maybe you could check the Helix Native Pilot’s Guide - page 49, The Automation/Controller Assign Tab. You should be able to figure out how to set the start point for your Mission Expression pedal. https://uk.line6.com/data/6/0a020a41143d65fb6bcb2ed8ca/application/pdf/Helix Native PilotGuide v3.00 - Rev N - English .pdf Hope this helps!/makes sense.
  12. Hi, You haven’t said what your computer and Operating System are, but let’s try this. First go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-ALL HARDWARE-" select Helix, then leave the "-ALL SOFTWARE-" as it is, now select your PC/Mac OS from under the "-ALL OS-" tab, then click “GO”. From the next page you can select HX Edit 3.00 for your Helix, then below that you will also need the Firmware 3.01 Flash Memory. Now scroll right the way down the page where you will find Line 6 Updater version 1.9. Download all these items to your computer and note where they are. Ensure that HX Edit is closed and that you have your Helix connected to your PC by USB cable (do not use a hub, some front USB ports on PCs act like a hub, so use one of the ports on the back) and hold down Foot Switches 6&12 while turning the power on. This will put your Helix into “Safe Boot” mode, and you may see a black, or error screen, but just keep going. Now, disconnect from the internet or any other applications that may be running, and launch the Updater Utility that you downloaded then select "Offline Mode". Your Helix and current firmware version should now show up in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - click “Choose File”, point it at the Flash Memory file you downloaded and let it get on with the update. Do not allow your computer to enter “sleep/power saving mode” during the update. When it completes you can install the new HX Edit v.3.0 software and you should be good to go. No guarantees are given or implied, you do this at your own risk. If it doesn’t work, raise a ticket with Customer Support. Hope this helps/makes sense
  13. As mentioned in the 2 posts above, the .hxb file is a backup of all your Presets, IRs and Global settings. When you select "Restore From Backup" in HX Edit, from under File in the Menu items, the window that opens should actually point back to the last backup you made. It should be obvious which one it is, because it will be date stamped for easy identification. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  14. Wow, Francis, That is fantastic, glad to know you are up and running. You have done a great job of reballing the chipset - serious technical work, but as there is no service available in your part of the world, do it yourself is the way to go. You will have great fun using the Helix and your Variax - (I have 2 of those). Keep Playing! LOUD! Happy to have assisted - Good luck
  15. The idea of notifying Line 6 is a moot point, because they are obviously already aware of this - as you so rightly noted: “they have provided suitable workarounds to get over the finish line” They even go so far as to state in the release notes for the firmware: IMPORTANT! In the unlikely event that your update fails, please follow the steps below: Not normal expected operation, that’s true, but also not exactly a secret as it is documented. That’s all.
  16. Damn - I’m sure that was mentioned in my absurd info - it’s a strange world we live in.
  17. Hello, In your hilariously frustrating attempt to follow the Line 6 Updater routine did you also follow my “absurd” instruction to download the flash memory firmware file to perform the “Local file” installation. I only ask this, because when you have the Line 6 Installer up and running and it detects your Helix, then you should click on the “Choose File” button to select the firmware which you downloaded to you computer and let it get on with the update without having to communicate over the internet, which even in 2020 can be problematic. If you have no success with this, it may be something serious in the hardware, then you will need to contact Line 6 Customer Service and see if they can help. Hope this is more helpful than absurd.
  18. Hi. Well, if this statement is correct, it cannot be your Helix. I would begin to suspect something else, maybe a setting inside Logic Pro? Check out what “phil_m” suggested in his post above. To clarify, my configuration is almost the same as yours, Helix floor via USB to Logic Pro X 10.4, on 32GB 5k Retina running High Sierra,Tannoy Reveal monitors connected to Helix XLR. I haven’t encountered any of the issues you mention. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. Hi P1KW, As you have noted that both Line 6 and Steinberg are part of the Yamaha Corporation, then I would be good if each piece of software would play nice together. It might be worth contacting Customer Service to ask about your authorisation issues. At the very least it will make them aware of the problem, as this is a user group and not really frequented by any Line 6 Staff. Hope this helps/makes sense. Oh, yeah thanks for the “down vote” - I was only trying to help, don’t know what I did to deserve that?
  20. Hi, I have just tried to see if this would happen for me, but no. I selected a blank preset slot and add the Agua 51 amp and cab and played through without and issues. Cranked the Mid up to 10 and just the same - plays fine no glitches, dropout or silences from here. Played with it for a while - seems O.K. Helix floor 3.01 HX Edit 3.0 Mac OS 10.13.6 High Sierrra You could try a reset or even a re-install
  21. O.K. let's try another way in. You are obviously logged in to be able to post here so... from the top of this page click on "SHOP" in the menu bar and Helix Native should appear right at the top and click on the BUY NOW button. There may even be a "pop up" for HX Native which does the same thing. This should put you on the page where you can select the option in the box named “With Registered Helix Floor or Rack” at $99.99 when the box is “ticked” hit the blue ADD TO CART button and complete your purchase. Same place - different journey. I cannot proceed any further because I already own Native. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. Hi, Try this - log in to your account and from the dropdown menu, below the Hardware & Software heading, select Marketplace Downloads and from the next screen click on “SHOP NOW”. Now you are on the Marketplace page, select “Software” at the top right of the page near your user icon in red. From the drop down click on Plug-ins. Helix Native is at the top of the list and when you click on “VIEW OPTIONS” it takes you to the page where you select the option in the box named “With Registered Helix Floor or Rack” at $99.99 when the box is “ticked” hit the blue ADD TO CART button and complete your purchase. If this doesn’t work raise a ticket with Customer Support, because as a registered user you should get the discounted version. I cannot check this through to completion because I already own HX Native. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  23. Hi again, If that is the situation then my first idea would work. Simply duplicate the tracks which need to change presets. Then spit the tracks where the change has to occur and delete the bits that are not needed. Example: If there is a change at bar 32 and it returns to the original preset at bar 64, split the audio file at those 2 points. Then move the split section (32 to 64) onto another track and apply another instance of HX Native with the alternative preset sound. It’s a less automated approach, but as the first section ends, any reverb trails will carry over when the second section kicks in. Repeat this for any/all tracks that needs patch changes. Switching between presets on the fly within a single instance of Native would require that your reverb/delay trails are engaged, but ultimately it is not as flexible as this “old school” technique of keeping things separate. You might require a Helix hardware unit to do this type of preset switching when playing live, but when recording it needs a different “mind set”. There is much more control working on individual parts in a mix. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. Hi Gary, AFAIK, your 8201 is a badly formatted preset error. Try a reset on your Helix hardware by holding down FS5 & FS12 while turning the power on. This will clear all the presets and the IRs, and return the system back to the default settings. Once flushed, and back to basics, you can reload all you stuff from the back up you made prior to updating you unit. Then when you find the offending preset - bin it. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  25. Hi John, The general consensus of opinion appears to be “yes, go for it”. Please ensure that you read, study and inwardly digest the information given in the official Release Notes, especially anything in RED text. Hope this helps/makes sense My personal disclaimer: No guarantees are given or implied, you do this at your own risk. If it doesn’t work, raise a ticket with Customer Support.
