  1. You need a marine version of the Helix, then. LoL! Sounds like the equivalent of me losing my boat up with guitar gear and playing on the water in a rain storm. :P
  2. While there have been a few bugs in a few here in the early days, I doubt seriously that the Helix will just start falling apart after a few years. You don't have nearly the amount of heat that an amp has, and I've found that all my Line 6 non "pro grade" products have held up well even on the road. Helix build of course seems to be a step up in ruggedness and build quality over those.
  3. Another note on the seismic audio coaxial monitors. There was a guy or two on the Fractal forum that actually put them side by side for comparison with an Atomic CLR and said they gave it a dang good run without even bringing the major money savings into consideration.
  4. I use both of these and love them. They have bass and treble controls SAX-15M-PW - Powered Compact 15 Inch 2 Way Coaxial Floor / Stage Monitor with Titanium Horn http://www.seismicaudiospeakers.com/powered-15-inch-coaxial-monitor/p/SAX-15M-PW SAX-12M-PW - Powered Compact 12 Inch 2 Way Coaxial Floor / Stage Monitor with Titanium Horn http://www.seismicaudiospeakers.com/powered-12-inch-coaxial-monitor/p/SAX-12M-PW Had no troubles with either one. I prefer the 15" model. A hair warmer and a little more power. Don't get me wrong, the 12" one has plenty of juice.
  5. Dang, line 6 sent UPS to pick mine up for free after I put in a trouble ticket for the scribble strip problem. Are you going through the dealer, fukuri?
  6. You have to download the line 6 updater app. Have helix connected via usb and then run that software once installed. Make sure you have loaded the Helix usb drivers for your operating system before you start.
  7. I use the pitch shifter in the Helix for Eb tuning shift and it works pretty spiffy for me. I play around with eq and sag and stuff, too, if I'm in a real picky mood. However, I have some patches where I have them identical to the unshifted patch. Always have a toggle switch for it, too.
  8. I would not be shocked if more power users sold patches...
  9. Yeah, I had a cheap Tascam four track. Got so many bounces before the quality went to crap. LoL!!!
  10. Love those ADAT tape days... Then I had an Alesis HD24. Before I gave it to a buddy, I had rigged it with converter chips in the 4 caddies I owned so that I could use serial ATA laptop drives in it. I was in hog heaven with all that recording drive space. My buddy still uses it when people have analog boards for live recording setups. That was a damn good machine!
  11. Bogner XTC, Mesa Mark IV, Diezel VH4 all channels. Trainwreck.

    Helix and Logic

    That sounds promising!
  13. I like the Helix due to dual DSP chips and multiple amps per patch. I mean I went from the full current top of the line Axe FX II XL+. Ax8 is a slightly crippled version of that. However, both are excellent solutions that are way better than something like the mid market pod HD500 series.
  14. Do yourself a big favor and order a Mission Engineering EP1-L6... Designed specifically for Line 6 products. My Boss FV-500H did not play nicely with Helix...
  15. Good write-up! I got rid of an Axe FX II XL+ and a Kemper rack shortly after I dug into my Helix. I wanted an all in one floor board that was easy to program/edit/tweak. Much simpler live setup for me and I don't really have to sacrifice sound and playability moving to the Helix.
  16. Hey, Beavis... He said Cthulhu... uhhhhhhh
  17. Though they are great sounding boxes, I sold my Kemper and my Axe FX II. Once I was satisfied with the sound and feel, I was glad to not have to sacrifice tone and playability to get away from having a separate rack AND foot pedal to control it. Simple setup and great interface! Your post was very well written!!!
  18. I would think you could probably not have to worry about running out of DSP with your described setup. I'll second the Glenn Delaune PF preset. I purchased it as well. When using only one amp/cab pair, you have to hammer the heck out of the Helix to run out of DSP.
  19. Mine's repaired and returned and like new. Good luck with yours. Would hate to have to make the decision from your location.
  20. I'm actually quite satisfied with using the pitch effect for detuning to Eb. Doesn't have any significant artifacts or anything. No severe chorused sound effect to it.
