If you had an Amplifire guy who didn't know his unit well, and a POD 2.0 guy who did, the POD guy would win in a tone contest. Turn it the other way around and... you get the picture. The problem with shootouts is that the guy working with the stuff invariably knows and likes one better, and that one will always win. I know Helix really well and can get (I think) stellar tones out of it... if I knew the Amplifire that well, the same would be true...

Matchless is literally the only amp I need in Helix. I adore it. I generally use Ch 1, because I don't go full on with distortion very much. But if there's a sound that can't be made with the Matchless Jump model (through a dual cab with the two matchless hybrid cabs)... I probably don't want to hear it.
-
That is precisely what you want!
-
That is for taking a balanced TRS connection (which Helix does NOT have) and adapting it to XLR. The 1/4" outs are unbalanced, and work fine with a DI if you need those outputs to go to an XLR path. The XLR outs would need a phantom blocker, like the one mentioned above.
-
Also, the TRS - XLR adaptor that the OP's link goes to is NO help for this issue and NOT a solution that helps you with Helix anyway.
-
It's tied to a feature in Helix (anti-pop connection in XLR I think). Can't just be sorted out as I understand it.

Diggin the invisible singer... and only one guy is smart enough to realize that the bass player smells AWFUL and has to be in a different room. Just kidding. Really very cool stuff!

Any power amp will do the job, but don't buy something cheap.. Seymour Duncan has a new small one designed to fit in a small space or even on a pedal board. I've heard good things about it. If you are going to take the most advantage of amp sims and IR and the stock cabs, though, you could be better off with a beefy FRFR or pair of them. Or a combination of those things.

It's different. You are probably turning the monitors to a reasonable volume, and more volume means more presence. How will you be using your Helix? If for recording, imho, headphones is actually not horrible. Studio monitors is better. If live, you should tweak your patches at gig volume through something as close to the PA you'll be using as possible. FRFR is good for this. Are you making your own patches or just using stuff built-in and found on the web. IF the latter, I URGE you to try making your own.

Here's how it works, btw... Different guitar. Same concept.

At launch, but a Line 6-er has hinted that making a standalone version later is high on the list. Okay, everybody has to take a drink again... no date has been set in stone yet. Beta testing is commencing and going well, however.
-
This would simply not work well imho.
-
I think a 15" is just too big for guitar modeler FRFR
-
Do this!
-
He is mistaken. That is all.
-
There has not been a date given. Beta testing is proceeding, and going well.

I sense a great disturbance in the... oh, forget it...
-
For perspective, I am a beta tester of the Rack, and have been using it with no backup since Dec 2015. Even with BETA builds, I've never had it go down for a performance.
-
I wouldn't bother trying to convert. In fact, I learned that my go-to amps changed from HD 500 (which I used for a LONG time) to Helix. Start from scratch.

You re-flashed, and it still didn't behave. This is not normal, and should not be expected. Return it and get another one immediately.

Good stuff here. But. 1. I wish Helix had FX loops so you could use your Whammy IV in--- uh, never mind... Yeah, I get this. Great poly pitch shifting (mostly octaves for me) would be super cool. 2. Yup. if you turn your IR or cab block off when you turn on the rotary, though, problem solved. 3. Save often. But I think an Undo button would be super cool. 4. I agree, but with a hybrid approach, using the computer editor and front panel at the same time, I find it mitigates this a lot. 5. If you don't go nuts with levels you will never have a problem EXCEPT... you need to turn headroom UP on those Vintage Delays (and a few other FX blocks). I think that perhaps I'd prefer if all headroom parameters were set to max. And 6. Am I the only guy who wishes that any non-"djent" amp defaulted to a clean sound when you first pulled it up?
-
Since it is switchable between line and mic it is reasonable to assume that line level,is +4, but I bet if it's actually +3.2 it really doesn't matter. Short answer. It works. And don't worry, nobody hears numbers. They hear sound.

You sir, have won the internet.

You don't need one for FOH. That's what the gain knob on the board is for...
