Hi, again, Although this is not a forum for Amp Farm problems, I decided to dig a little deeper. The reason that iLok is not listed as downloadable is because it is not included in the deal. Please see the last bullet point on the list below which is copied from the Amp Farm “Requirements” page Minimum Hardware Requirements Upgrades require ownership of a full Amp Farm 3.x TDM license Note: The 4.0 license replaces your 3.x TDM license Dual-Core 2.0GHz processor or faster 4GB of RAM 100MB of free disk space Internet connection required for license authorization 2nd generation or better iLok USB Smart Key (for authorization; not included) Note: iLok licenses are not refundable

PRESETS - Owners manual - page 14. If you have a computer you can connect your HXFX box with a USB cable and use the free HX Edit application to remotely edit and manage your setlists. See Page 4 - Updating your HX Effects Device Firmware. (note your firmware and HX Edit version number must match to work properly) Now you know something. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3d3f4a5a6a1897ecdf6/application/pdf/HX Effects 2.50 Owners Manual - English .pdf Here's some more stuff.

Hi, Always worth trying in the event of “strange behaviour”, If you haven’t already done it, reset your hardware and let it rebuild the presets. Try FS 9&10, that may clear the glitch. Then reload you patches and setlists from your back up. Nothing to lose - hope this helps.
-
Not a problem on a Mac - if you use iTunes for playing your backing tracks, it has a graphic equaliser built in, should you wish to use it. Although, you must be in a pretty bad listening environment if you feel it necessary to heavily EQ pre-recorded (bought) material. The studio and mastering engineer will have worked their magic on the audio before you get to mess with it.

I can understand the frustration, but the “scattergun” approach of posting the same issue in different areas of the forum just causes confusion. I had already posted a possible solution in another area, but I have no idea if you have tried the fix. I have also posted a similar set of reset procedures higher up in this thread. The same reset option has been posted here by “phil_m” and the roll back option has been described by “crusinon2”. Please advise us when the situation changes, preferably in a single thread. TIA.

This issue cropped up with a couple of other user during the past day or so. Gave both people this response and got one reply that it was fixed by doing what I suggested. Nothing to lose, so here we go again: COPIED QUOTE FROM PREVIOUS POST: Hi, Sounds like a glitch! Try doing a reset on your hardware to see if it blows the bugs out. Also, ensure that your version of HXEdit is the same as your Stomp Box Firmware. HX Stomp Button Combination Description All 3 Footswitches Clears all presets/IRs FS1+2 Resets presets and IRs FS 2+3 Factory restore (globals, presets, IRs) Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination REPLY FROM ONE USER STATES FACTORY RESTORE WORKS (FS 2+3) Hope this helps/makes sense

And when offered the job in insurance, he snapped it up without delay! Oops! I'm leaving now!

Yep, once again, that's just some more of Mr Evan's U2 trickery. Another great exponent of the dotted eighth note is a certain Mr D Gilmour - there's a lot of it about (Pink Floyd fans will get that one) Oh, yeah, one thing that I forgot to mention about the Helix stereo delays is - they have a "Scale" parameter you should set that to 100% so the repeats remain dotted 1/8th. The scale chops the time value of repeats in the right hand channel. For example: delay time = 1/2sec (500ms), scale = 50% gives repeats on 1/4sec (250ms) intervals. Therefore if you want to maintain strict time set scale to 100%.

Hi, This dotted eighth note delay is the standard of “the Edge”. There must be a stack of stuff on Custom Tone that will get you in the area for this sort of stuff. Also, you have to remember that as you are using a dotted 1/8th the BPM of the tune is important, in the case of “We Are Royals” it should be around 132. If you don’t have the BPM how will the Helix know what the sub divisions (time/msec) of the beats are. Check your Helix settings for BPM or tap it in. Try setting the level and amount of delay repeats (feedback) by playing just a single note to achieve the desired effect. Also remember that the delays on Helix work slightly differently to how you may expect. At 50% mix setting it works more like a balance where you have equal amounts of dry and delay signal. Increase above 50% mix will give more of the delay and lose some of the dry. A trick to try is to split the path and put the delay (any model) on the lower path. This way you can put the delay signal mix to 100%, i.e. delay only, and your dry signal continues on the top path. Feedback determines how long the repeats last, from zero to infinity. Adjust to suit. Hope this make sense. EDIT: I went to Customtone and found this which will probably have the type of delay you’re after. https://line6.com/customtone/tone/3625740/ and here is the video Hope this helps.

Simple answer. YOU DIDN’T READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! Further more, when you post on this forum looking for assistance, it’s a great help to know what Computer and OS you are using. Although, I will guess - PC running Windows? This issue is usually associated with Windows Drivers. You could try the suggestion, most helpfully supplied by “Peter”, in the post above. In his comment, he mentions that this has been discussed many times, whereas I would state that it is more like hundreds of times. Don’t panic - you will get your pedal back. ;-) The answer is out there, all you need to do is look, but as you appear incapable of following instructions... EDIT: This thread has over 120 replies and over 8,800 views. Took less than a minute to find!

Hi, You’re correct. A backup is only really necessary to protect your own custom patches. If you simply try a restart of your HX while holding down FS 2&3, that could do the trick. Bear in mind what I said previously about making sure that the firmware in your hardware is the same number as your HX Edit. Hope this is some help.

2.81.1 Fran Fernandez video 2.81.1 (Solved by factory reset)
datacommando replied to Lytspeed's topic in Helix
Well, thats an amazing coincidence. His post on UChoob, which says he is back up and running, was posted an hour after I posted the suggetion of doing a reset, both on this forum here and on his channel on YouTube. Surprisingly Jose makes no comment about that. Plus, Jose posted the same video to YouTube twice, both on the same day - 18th August, and then it appears that he spent over a week waiting for someone to fix his issues with the Helix. It must have been very important that he needed it for a stage gig. Or maybe he had aready figured out the problem, but never bothered to delete his pair of videos. Most helpful. Thanks Lytspeed for keeping us up to date, the guy with the problem never did.- 13 replies

Hi, Just a thought and I’m not in the studio for a while, so I can’t check if this happens with my own JTV59. I would be curious to know if this issue occurs when the input is set to Variax rather than Multi?

Ah. Now I understand. Not a plug-in that I knew about, but it looks interesting. Have fun.

2.81.1 Fran Fernandez video 2.81.1 (Solved by factory reset)
datacommando replied to Lytspeed's topic in Helix
Well now he's up to 87 views. The guy doesn't tell us to much about how he got on with loading the v2.81.1 firmware patch on his LT. You know, any glitches and important stuff like did he back up all his presets, if he did he probably just needs to do a "Global Reset" on the hardware by holding down FS5&6 while powering up. Once he has blown the bugs out he should only have to reload his setlists minus the one that has the flakey presets. If that's the case, it's a question of reloading all 128 slots (if he used them all) from his original back-up files. I mean he did back them up - right? If you look at the screen on his LT when he is showing the corrupted stuff, look in the top right hand corner along side the Snapshot Icon is the Icon for Global EQ. He never mentions how, or why it is on, so I guess he didn't reset the box. Why is it that when there is a gig coming up, or you rely on some hardware to earn a living, people will insist on installing untried new software or firmware. I mean... the bleeding edge?- 13 replies

Somebody may understand what you want to achieve, but I'm sorry I have no idea what you are actually asking. Baffled? I am. If you want to try a VST plug in, then you need to have a DAW or a standalone app that can host the plug in. May be you could expand on what you want to do and what computer system you are going to be using. Help us to help you.

Hi, Just for clarification, I would guess that you mean either "Soundflower", "Soundflowerbed" or even "Loopback" - all of which would be unnecessary on a Mac as Helix shows up as an 8 in/8 out USB device. On a Mac you can play all your iTunes, YouTube, and backing tracks straight out of Helix without issues. Furthermore the OP states using the earphone socket on his phone, although he doesn't specify a brand. If it's an iPhone then the Apple Camera Connection Kit is the simple solution. Hope this makes sense.

Well that's a first. I have never heard of anyone wiping their own custom patches with a Global Reset - unless, of course, what you really mean is "User Error"? It is possible to do a Global Reset without erasing user presets by holding down FS 5&6 while powering up your Helix. Here’s a list of Reset Options if you need them, which I guess you do! Make a copy, print it out and keep it in your gig bag! Helix Floor/LT Button Combination Description 2 LED light Fun 3 & 4 Test Mode 5 & 6 Global reset 7 & 8 Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs 8 & 9 Reset setlists to factory, Clear IRs 9 & 10 Reset setlists to factory, Global reset, Clear IRs 10 & 11 Upgrades existing presets to latest format 11 & 12 Clear current preset 5 & 12 Clear setlists, clear IRs, Return system settings to default 6 & 12 Safe boot mode To use Reset Options: Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination Please note: Buttons are numbered from top left to bottom right. Hope this helps/makes sense

Or one that is definitely known to work. :-)

Even better than reading about it - watch how it's done.

Hi Tim, Now I know you’re running Widows 10, my suspicions are it is possibly the drivers. There are many comments on this forum about the drivers getting screwed up with the 2.80/2.81 firmware installation. IIRC, it’s possible to run the Line 6 HX Edit installer and just install the required drivers. Also, as suggested by “Peter” in the post above, try another USB port - preferably one on the rear of the computer as the ones on the front act like a hub and that’s frowned upon. USB it notoriously flakey and using a different cable and port can produce the required voodoo. Hope this helps/makes sense.
