  1. A single stereo track is much easier to deal with than dual mono tracks.
  2. My guess is that it would be the monitoring via Logic. Essentially you are hearing the sound of the Pod coming back thru Logic in addition to directly from the Scarlett. Sometime this is called "zero latency monitoring" ...but it means you are hearing the sound twice, a few milliseconds apart. Try flipping the "DIRECT MONITOR" switch to off.. this is the sound of the POD going into the Scarlett, before it passes into your DAW.
  3. So looks like the brain trust over at Neunaber have a new speaker emulator pedal coming out. This might be the solution (for some) who love the HD500x... but maybe not the cabs. It doesn't appear to be a IR loader, but does appear to have some pretty deep editing features, and EQ. https://neunaber.net/collections/iconoclast/products/iconoclast?variant=29266759373

    Pod vs Helix

Ya know.. some of us have friends and family in the LGBTQ community. Maybe next time you could leave the assumption that this guy is "gay" for another forum?
  5. The HD500x takes a little work to setup with PA. In particular, you need to select the right output mode. Have a look at you manual for guidance, but here is the gist: Studio/Direct: Typically the best option when connecting “Direct†to a mixing console or recording device. This signal includes “Studio†Cab Models, Mic Model and an “AIR†convolution to best emulate a mic’ed amp within a room. Combo and Stack settings: Optimizes your tone for connecting to an external amplifier. The signal includes “Live†Cab Models, with no Mic Model or “AIR†convolution, with a special EQ curve added for each. Combo Front & Stack Front: For connecting into the front input of a typical combo amp or amp head + external cab, respectively. Combo Power Amp & Stack Power Amp: For connecting to the power amp of a combo or head amp. Keep in mind that patches you designed to use with your amp will have to be rebuilt/tweaked for use with a PA as they very different.
  6. Not via USB. You could use the Pod XT in the FX loop of the HD500x.
  7. I'm assuming you mean the "stutter/killswitch" style guitar? It sounds like a combo of tremolo (with a nearly square wave for the "chop") and a phaser (or maybe a flanger) with a tight width, and a fairly high regen. There may also be an octave thing going on too. Should be no problem on the Helix.. just make sure you get the trem speed/tempo in sync with the phaser/flanger.
  8. Alas no.. the looper has no tempo control. When you hit record and when you hit play determines the tempo.
  9. I had the Vetta 2 combo, and ran my HD500X in to it in the beginning (I still haven't pulled the trigger on the Helix). It works... and it's just OK. But then I got a pair of the Alto TS110A and it was SOOOOO much better. The sound is great, and I love the fact that I can carry my guitar in one hand, the HD500X in its soft-case over my shoulder, and one of the TS110A speakers in the other hand... and that's all I need for rehearsal. I trip from the car and it's not breaking my back. I would look at the Altos or something similar.... FRFR is (IMO) the way to go.
  10. I tend to use the interface I have (Presonus FP10) via SPDIF from my HD500x... but that's not an option on the 2i2. Any loss you have from going analog outs of the 500X to the 2i2, and then back to digital into your DAW is probably negligible. If your setup is already dialed in.... I say go with the 2i2 for convenience sake. If you use the HD500X, you will eliminate the need for the extra conversion, but then you need to have you speakers/headphones plugged into the 500X to hear anything. Either option is valid... just depends on your personal taste and comfort level.
  11. Check out section 2*8 of your Advanced Guide, or via this link to the PDF: http://line6.com/data/6/0a06434c6fb051e03e8ab63dc/application/pdf/POD%20HD500X%20Advanced%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf Studio/Direct: Typically the best option when connecting “Direct†to a mixing console or recording device. When choosing either of these Modes, you’ll see the following additional options for further tone shaping: • Lows (Knob 2): Attenuates the low frequencies. • Focus (Knob 3): Increases the overall midrange. • Highs (Knob 4): Attenuates the high frequencies. Combo Power Amp & Stack Power Amp: For connecting to the power amp of a combo or head amp. TIP: When using the Combo or Stack options and connecting into a tube amplifier, we also recommend that you choose a Preamp Model from the Amp Model menu (rather than one of the “Full†Amp Models). HD Preamp Models include no power amp emulation, making them typically better suited for this connection. That said, there is no wrong choice! PODs have always been about flexibility... Check out all the possibilities and decide which Models work best for your tone!
  12. Great video from That Pedal Show on various makes/flavors of Octave boxes:
  13. Not an expert here... but I would imaging that the Q/Notch on the Vairtone circuit is a bit more extreme. So just cutting at those bands won't have quite the same effect on the sound unless you can adjust the Q of each band.
  14. Looks like Behringer MS-20s have SPDIF (COAXIAL) inputs... who knew. It also looks like they will take UP TO a 192kHz/24-bit signal, so you should be fine. The HD500X puts out 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz or 96kHz.
  15. Yes... refer to page 53 in the manual for the full info.. but the drivers and such can be had from http://www.line6.com/software
  16. About a dozen places online you can buy it... Legit software sounds better anyway.
  17. I'm a big fan of Presouns StudioOne - http://www.presonus.com/products/Studio-One I've been using it for several years now. They also make a decent free version if you are new to the DAW world and just want to get your feet wet.
  18. Heheh.. you're doing your best to convince me aren't you ;) Next year... first my trip to NZ, then new car (not as fun as a Helix, but much more necessary).. then I can go after the Helix.
  19. Yeah.. I'm hoping for that "Christmas Bonus" from work to make the decision for me.
  20. Interesting video. But Wow... three days in and he's already bought IRs? I have to say that really surprised me. I know that some people aren't happy with the Cabs in the Helix, but it seems a bit premature to buy some IRs right out of the gate. Caveat - I'm still rocking the HD500X and haven't pulled the trigger yet on the Helix, so what the hell do I know. ;)
  21. +1 for this. Based on the OP description... I would go with this... particularly since the unit was used, who knows how it was setup.
  22. Can you "pre-record" the backwards part? Assuming you know - loosely - what you are going to play before you have your "mistake" ... why not just record something that sounds something like it ahead of time... and then just use the Play Once feature to play it backwards. Just a thought.
  23. While I don't have a Helix yet... I do have a good amount of time under my belt with the HD500X and the TS110 (What the TS210 became.) I play in an original rock band with shades of classic. The TS110 has been fantastic... PLENTY loud and so easy to carry around. Given the flexibility of the Helix's routing setup, doing FOH and monitoring off of the TS210 would be a great way to go. You can also set the Master Volume control to only adjust the volume being sent to the TS210 only, while sending a consistent level to the FOH.
  24. I use the SPDIF out of my HD500X to my Presonus FP10 interface and it works like a charm. That being said... the HD500 is also a USB audio interface (I just don't use it in that way). So you could use the HD500 as your interface to your PC and not have to buy anything extra. You would plug your speakers into the L/R audio outs on the HD500 (either XLR or 1/4" outs - depending on your speakers). Look at Chapter 9 of the HD500 manual for details: http://l6c-acdn.line6.net/data/6/0a06434dfb244f7b7f489af64/application/pdf/POD%20HD500%20Advanced%20Guide%20v2.0%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf
