HaHa!! There's another possibility. I wonder if mice can gnaw at a regular 240bpm? :P

No, you don't have to explain anything. There are many advantages to upgrading, including the ones you mention. That's why it's hard for me to understand why a relatively minor thing (to me), which can easily be accomplished in a different way, would be a deal breaker. You'd forego all those advantages because you'd need to get a cheap adapter and structure a simple preset? That's entirely up to you, but perhaps give yourself a bit of time to get over your initial disappointment? EDIT: I'd be happy to build an appropriate preset and put it on Customtone for you (if it isn't already there).

I'm going back to the OP's initial post. The problem is either not the guitar or it's the guitar and, coincidentally, all other instruments he's tested with. Since this began recently, it's likely not a local electrical problem unless he's recently moved or had electrical work done in his house. But definitely worth looking at; even moving the device from one room to another in the current house could cause this. All good ideas and suggestions to check out, but I'm still thinking it's an Hd500 hardware issue.

If you're happy with the tones you are getting with the HD500 then there's really no reason to upgrade to Helix, cd/MP3 input or not. However if you want better tones perhaps you should reconsider. Will the lack of a specific 1/8" input really dissuade you from getting better guitar tones, given that fact that you can use other inputs? Your choice of course but it seems like a minor consideration rather than a deal breaker to me. But again - it's all based on how happy you are with the HD500 tones. Why were you considering upgrading in the first place?
-
There isn't a specific 1/8" input labeled 'cd/MP3'. You can use any of the FX Return inputs for this purpose, with a suitable adapter and a preset structured to use it. See the Send/Return section of the manual.

Can I connect an outside pedal (say, a Fuzz Factory) into the Firehawk?
silverhead replied to ladycider's topic in Firehawk
Yes. Connect them in series just like you would in a standard analogue pedalboard. -
That's the way it worked on the POD HD series. The preset keep its stored input but this was ignored when the Global Input option was active. As soon as this value was reset to Preset in any one preset, the stored input choice in each preset was used again when presets were switched.

Can I send 2 or more MIDI PC message using only one switch?
silverhead replied to lokimoto's topic in Helix
You will also need to assign the two external device to different midi channels and target your commands accordingly. Otherwise both devices will respond to both commands, and the second command will rule both devices. -
Not if you use the default Multi input setting. It includes Guitar and Variax. If you previously changed all presets from the default to Variax then, yes, you would have to change them all again. If you're worried about this happening to you it might be worthwhile to spend a few minutes during a practice session changing all preset inputs back to Multi.

Is there a question in there somewhere? -
That's very unusual. At first I thought it might be related to noise from a usb connection, but it's not clear whether your HD500X is connected to your computer. But in any case that theory is disproved by the fact that the noise disappears when you reduce the guitar volume using your guitar's volume knob. The clicking is very regular, though, which suggests it is somehow clock related. I suspect there is a hardware issue in your HD500X that needs to be resolved. I think you should open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 tech support on this. http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html You mention that the noise is present with other instruments too so I think we can rule out the instruments themselves. Let's see if it is related to the physical Guitar In jack on the HD500X. Try connecting your guitar (and other instruments) to the Aux input. You will need to adjust your preset Inputs. Is the clicking noise still evident? If so, it's likely something in the signal processing stage rather than the input stage. If the clicking disappears at least you have a workaround until you decide to send it to an authorized service center to have the Guitar In jack and circuitry repaired. I presume you have already ruled out the guitar cable itself as the cause?

Maybe there's something wrong with the switch mechanics. Does the Tap Tempo function behave properly?

Please don't misunderstand me. I never suggested that you were lying, dreaming, inexperienced, or misrepresenting anything. I simply said, and truly wish, that what you experienced earlier could now be reproduced. I would love to see it because I haven't yet. That's all I said and all I meant.
-
Including the note on/off messages? I really wish you could reproduce that. I've never seen it in any Line 6 device, including Helix.
-
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't, but I haven't tried it. Workbench HD will no longer work with JTV v1.9.
-
Cool. I didn't know that. With the POD HD I never went beyond discovering that it did not operate as a midi interface when connecting a midi device such as a keyboard directly. Neither does Helix, but now I know the possibilities!

I use a separate setlist for tones that are under development (e.g. Comparing different downloaded tones to existing tones). I also have a main setlist of tones that are the best I have at any given time. This is the setlist I use when actually playing with others. When a tone under development gets good enough that I'm ready to use it, it gets copied to the main setlist, often replacing my previous best of that tone type. Of course I keep a copy of the previous one just in case. It either goes back into the development setlist, or my computer, or my 'archive' setlist. Like you, my development setlist sometimes gets messy and confusing. But when playing with the main setlist I can organize so that things are pretty clear. Also, this way there is never really any need to change setlists during a set. All my good, gig-ready tones are there in the main setlist.

Where is Line 6 Support?
silverhead replied to barkerm's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I don't have your email address as I don't work for Line 6. I have reread the entire thread and I have sent you a private message. Check your mailbox at the top of this page. The main point of the message is this: you have a choice to make. If you want your guitar fixed you should open a support ticket here: http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html If not, that too is a choice you're making. In either case further discussion here seems pointless, unless you simply want to continue venting. If so, go right ahead but I doubt you'll make any progress regarding the fact that your guitar needs fixing, despite your sensitivities. Is your guitar still under warranty? It's been seven months of apparent inaction since you were first advised to open a ticket less than an hour after your first post. -

I think what you are hearing is the final repeats of the last note(s) you played before turning the Delay OFF. This is normal on the X3. Some devices have an option that allows you to turn the trails OFF so that these final repeats are not heard but I don't recall/see a way to do that on the X3. To test this, adjust the Feedback parameter on the delay. If you set feedback to a high value you will hear more of these final repeats. If you set feedback to zero you should not hear any final repeats. Of course, the feedback parameter is what you use to control the number of repeats while the Delay is ON so turning it to zero is not a solution; it's just to test and see what's happening.

Yes. So in reaper after arming the vocal track for recording, select the UX2 mic as the track's recording input source. -

Pod Farm runs either stand alone (without using a DAW like reaper for recording) or as a plug-in for processing signalks within a DAW like reaper. Since you are using Reaper for recording, have you tried selecting the UX-2 MIC as the record input in Reaper? In other words after arming the Reaper track for recording select the track's Record Input source in Reaper rather than within Pod Farm. -

That's the info that you didn't provide earlier. Hence my questions. Have you downloaded and installed the Line 6 driver for the UX2? -
Set the volume on your monitors to a mid-level (the notch position if they have one). Start with low output volume on the POD. Increase the POD volume slowly until it is loud enough. If your monitors start clipping (you'll hear it) turn down the POD volume a bit and then increase the monitor volume if necessary.
