OK - using that setup, here are my comments: - you will need to use a dual-path setup that keeps both Pod Inputs completely separate, as arislaf notes. This means you should not place any amp/FX before the path split in your signal chain. Also (see next point) you should also avoid using any FX after the mixer in either path of your signal chain. - you may encounter internal feedback that renders the whole setup useless. I have never tried this so can't say. But theoretically the Pod may not be able to handle your request that it process essentially the same input signal (your guitar) twice, in a time-delayed fashion: once from the guitar itself and then again, delayed by a few ms, from your cab/mic. Be very careful with volume levels the first time you try this. - if it works without internal feedback, make sure you select only the Pod's Mic channel output as the input source for the track in your DAW. Let us know how it goes.

Best Live Amp For Jtv And Pod Hd 500?
silverhead replied to xsession99's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Yes to both. Will you be using the L6 LINK connection from the Pod HD to the L2? If not, I would use the rear panel Line In connections on the L2 to receive the Pod HD audio output. I would use the RCA connectors; this would require a pair of 1/4" to RCA adapters, or a stereo cable with different connectors on each end. -
Workbench Hd Connection Through Pods
silverhead replied to flabergaster's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I agree with you: I would really like to be able to use Workbench HD through my Pod HD500. In fact, I rarely use Workbench HD specifically because I have to drag out my Workbench hardware interface. I have no idea how technically difficult this would be, but I also agree with you that if it were easy we'd have it by now. I just don't think we should let ourselves feel let down that a more serious issue, and one that has no workaround, has been resolved first. I'm sure the users who were affected by that are very happy to see this update. I'm not one of them but I can see that Line 6's priorities are well placed in this case. -
I'm not sure I understand, so please correct me if I'm wrong...... You say you want have a real SM57 record the output of the pod through a cab. As I understand that, you would want to have your guitar connected to the Guitar Input on the Pod, and have the Pod Output connected to your cab. You then want to place you mic in front ot the cab, and have it connected to the Mic Input on your Pod. You then want the Pod's mic'd cab sound (not the guitar input) directed to your DAW for recording. This would be using only the Pod as your audio interface to your computer/DAW; no other audio interface. Is that correct? Please confirm or clarify and then we can direct you further.

Workbench Hd Connection Through Pods
silverhead replied to flabergaster's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
This update does not include support for Workbench HD. It's certainly not a letdown for those who have experienced the issue that is addressed. I suppose one can feel set up and let down if that's what one wants to feel, but that's not the reality. This was a fix for a completely different and more important issue. There was no workaround for the issue that was fixed. On the other hand, everyone can use Workbench HD, albeit restricted to the Workbench hardware interface. -
Yes - that is normal. The asterisk indicates that a preset has been changed; its state has been modified compared to the stored state. And an FX being on vs. off is a change in state.

The drag and drop method works only on individual patches. You can't use it with multiple patches simultaneously, or with a setlist or bundle. Each of these elements can exist as a single file on your computer. A setlist is a set of 64 patches that are organized into 16 banks (numbered 1 through 16) with 4 patches (A through D) in each bank. Hence each patch from 1A to 16D identifies the 64 patches in a setlist. A Bundle contains all 512 patches that the HD500x can contain at any time. The bundle is organized into 8 setlists as above. Each patch and setlist can be named, although internally they will be referred to as Setlist 1 through Setlist 8, and within each setlist patch 1A through 16D. The bundle name is assigned when you save the bundle to your computer; internally it needs no name because it is all there is.

You can assign both delay FX to the same FS. The procedure is described in the Advanced Guide on pages 3-10 through 3-12, in the section called 'FX and Amp Block Footswitch Assignment'. After assigning the same FS to both delay FX, you then need to SAVE the preset in the state where one FX is ON and the other OFF. Henceforth, the FS will act as a toggle switch between the FX.

Porting Of The .h5e Files Into Podfarm
silverhead replied to kylegonyer's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
That's a good strategy to get a starting point. Users need to be aware, though, that they should not expect to hear identical tones even with the exact same amps and FX selected, with the exact same parameter settings for each amp/FX. That's because the underlying modeling (DSP software) is completely different. So use this technique as a starting point for further tweaking to get a tone that sounds good to you. -
Hold the CTRL button (makes a copy) while you drag/drop. This replaces (not just moves) the original patch.
-
My guess is also yes - but best case it might depend on the nature of any later problem. If the problem has anything to do with the neck, bridge, or even piezos I think the warranty would be void. But if there's a purely internal problem you might be able to argue successfully that the warranty should apply. However, you'll need to ask Line 6 directly.

You do not need the 1/4" connector; the VDI connection is sufficient. (btw ... I hope you are using an RJ-45 cable with Neutrik protective shielding at both ends. Otherwise you risk damaging the jacks.) In the HD500x preset Mixer section make sure you correctly identify the Variax 500 (not JTV) as the connected device. Also make sure you set the parameter to Control the Variax from the HD500x; it can be set to Don't Control, which defeats the purpose. And finally, make sure you SEND the preset/patch to the HD500x device from within the HD500x Edit program; don't just use the SAVE button on the device.
-
Exactly. Please do. As predicted, I'm next on your hit-list just by responding to you. I won't be wasting any more time with you.
-
Since you haven't been able to hear the tone you want, despite the best efforts of some kind people here who have gone out of their way to post demo clips for you, maybe the HD500 isn't for you. Personally, I'm not inclined to go out of my way to try to convince you of something you don't seem to want to be convinced about, especially when you tend to berate those who do bother responding to you (I think I'm next). Your last sentence above says it all. Perhaps its just time for you to pursue other options to get the Slayer tone you want, whatever that is.

Best Live Amp For Jtv And Pod Hd 500?
silverhead replied to xsession99's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
For a mix of electric and acoustic tones I suggest using an FRFR (Full Range Flat Response) speaker system, or something close to it. This means studio/PA speakers or a keyboard amp. Sounds like your Carvin PA speaker should have delivered good results. If you weren't satisfied, check your HD500 settings. Set it to Studio output mode. Use Full rather than Pre amp models to include cab/mic simulations in the amp modeling. -
Try powering on the HD400 while holding down the left (or is it right?) nav key. If you get the test screen, select FLASH MEMORY (or REFLASH?). Then run Line 6 Monkey and try to reinstall the firmware.

The download link is under the Support tab at the top of this page.

The Line 6 experts have no more information about this than anyone other users. My personal opinion is that the DT series amps will be around for quite a while yet. AMPLIFi is not a competitor at all to the DT amps.

The only differences are in the I/O. The processing and processors, including their capacity, are the same.

Specifically, you need the HD500 Edit software; there are different editors for each Pod HD model. Run Line 6 Monkey with your HD500 connected. It will guide you through the HD500 Edit download and installation process.
