  1. Hi everyone. I have a question, I want to use my Helix for guitar and vocals simultaneously. The thing is, it will be with two musicians, a guitarist who will be up and down, and me on vocals. The issue is that I would like to control various parameters of the vocals (delay, occasional echo, etc.), and not have to be aware of the pedalboard, which the guitarist will be using. I've thought about adding an external pedal, like a switch on/off, to assign those effects, and with my own two or three buttons, without having to be aware of the pedalboard. Do you know if this can be done? And if so, what pedal do you recommend? I need at least two buttons. Thank you.
  2. I'm new to this so I should apologize before hand. I can't find any specific information regarding how to setup a vocal mic into the Helix LT, with a guitar. I was told it can be done, there's tons of forums and video related to this regarding impedance issues or for the Helix floor. If anyone could help, guide me to a resource of any kind it would be greatly appreciated. Can't find anything related to this in the manual as well. I admit Im a noob, what am I'm missing here. Please help, thanks!!!
  3. Hello. I am the happy owner of an helix LT and a PC112+. It’s a really powerful combination and I didn’t think I’d see any limitations with this setup for some years. But fate might have caught up with me already. The thing is I’m doing a small solo gig in a few days. I was going to run my guitar and my mic through the helix - only to discover that the LT doesn’t have an extra XLR. That’s exclusive to the full Helix. Instead I now run my mic straight into the PC in FRFR mode (through the mic1 with some gain). And the helixLT through the digital port on same PC. That gives me guitar and vocals alright. But the vocals are dry as the desert. And next to the sweet tone I’m getting on my guitar the contrast is grave. so my question is: is there ANY way I can unlock some reverb for my mic using this setup? Or is this destiny telling me to always go with the biggest and most expensive option possible when buying gear? thanks a bunch guys.
  4. So I'm planning on getting a Shure SM7B and I'd really like to run it through my Helix. This is the LT version, so I'll need to use an XLR to 1/4 transformer. Hoping someone that knows more about mics (impedance, compatibility, ...) can suggest a transformer that will work. Is there anything else I need to make a proper vocal setup with the Helix LT? Can I get away with just the mic and a transformer? (I was thinking the Shure A85F)
  5. So, I picked up an LT about a year go, and I love it. It honestly fulfills pretty much everything that I want, and the extra 5 or 600 bucks for the Floor is not something that I could justify. The only thing the Floor has that I wish the LT had in all honesty is the Mic input. (the scribble scripts, the extra fx loops, and all that other stuff are kind of irrelevant to me). SO, To fix that lack, I have purchased myself a small 5 "channel" Behringer mixer that I'm going to run into the input of the Helix and then run the guitar into one of the FX loop returns (or maybe the other way around) to give myself the ability to have a mic input for the LT. The mixer was like 50 bucks.
  6. I'm driving myself nuts here. I'm recording voiceovers. I have a physical hardware setup which is great (big and heavy), but I'm trying to integrate everything into my HP Spectre Tablet and UX2 so if I have to take it on the road, no problem! So standalone Podfarm is great, I can throw a noise gate and compressor on there and when I speak, it comes back through the headphones on the UX2 (wet) with zero latency, and sounds great. But attempting to record it inside the computer has been a nightmare. I've had to check out new daws and learn how to load Podfarm as a plugin, and it always has too much latency. I've tried Reaper and adjusting the settings to be the lowest latency. It's still too slow and sounds horrible in the headphones to the point where I can't tell the quality of the recording. It seems the only practical and reliable way of recording my vocals will be to just use a headphone splitter and record into an audio recorder like a Sony PCM-d50/ ZoomH1n. This seems like a shame since there should be a way to capture the sound that's inside the computer, but it always seems to conflict with the soundcard to record "what you hear" using audacity. It introduces clicks and static. I've heard of a technique where you can have a track in Reaper that's a "monitor" track and the record track is muted. But, this doesn't help because even when just monitoring the input when Reaper is running, it has the latency issue. I really really wish podfarm had a simple record button in it's standalone iteration. Has anyone had latency issues when recording vocals or figured this out? Thanks
  7. I just received my Helix, I haven't unboxed it yet. Does anyone have recommendations for running acoustic guitar and vocals at the same time? Also, is there a way to separate the 2 signals going out, so I can adjust the volumes individually with my mixer? Thank you,
  8. Hey guys, I have had my Helix for about 2 months now and I am staring to use it as a DAW for recording and I am getting excellent results. However the one thing I am struggling with a bit is getting a good vocal sound. I created a couple of mic based presets to use, and they are ok, but they could be alot better. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some settings that might help. I want at least 2 settings. One for harsh vocals that would be crisp and edgy but still sound "big". and a second for warm melodic vocals that will be clear and clean but still have that sense of space to it. I know that any tone sound is subjective, but any tips on how to get started creating good mic tones would be great. Another issue I have is input volume. I record direct from the Helix to my laptop. I use the program Reaper to record my tracks. I find that when I bring in a new track, I seem to have no control of the currently inputting instrument monitor volume from the mixer in Reaper so it is really hard to balance the volume so I can hear playback when recording. The Volume knob on the Helix seems to do nothing. I have been adjusting for this by changing the patch output levels, as this seems to be the only way to level it out. But I am worried that this will cause reduced gain in the recording. Any tips on managing this volume issue?
  9. So I'm trying to record vocal covers with my helix as the audio interface. I'm running my mic into one signal path and then the track through the othe signal path and both are going through the multi output setting. I'm using the headphones out to monitor so it has to both be centered because I tried just panning one left and one right and it just threw me off. Is there any way to split the track and the vocals into two different tracks in studio one and still be centered?
  10. Hi all! I am sort of new to the Firehawk 1500 & using it with my Helix floor unit & need some help setting it all up to process vocals through it as well as the PA.. I have actually managed to get the vocals going through my Firehawk amp & the PA but seem to be getting a lot of feedback when doing so! I have the mic going into the helix mic pre & running the helix outs into the monitor ins on the back of the amp & then running the Firehawk outs into my Behringer UFX1604 mixer/PA. I am using the amp in stereo wide setting as a FRFR Wet/Dry/Wet setup for the guitar which sounds great but just struggling to cancel out feedback I'm getting from the mic.. I have been working on the mic gain setting in global settings in Helix but haven't managed to find the right balance between the mic & guitar levels. I have just purchased a TC Helicon Voicelive Play Electric which I want to incorporate with the helix when it arrives & have seen this cool video of how to link a TC Helicon pedal to the Helix & still be able to use the Helix mic pre but be able to access the vocal harmonies from the TC & it will still detect what key you're playing in. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MZC5QZocKLQ I will only be using the VLPE pedal for vocals effects/harmonies NOT guitar. So is there anyone out there who can help me set this up properly so I'm not getting horrific hissing feedback? I would be so grateful for your help/advice & suggestions! Kind regards Kyle

  12. Early 2015 we recorded a song with the HD Pro. Now, the same song we re-recorded a few weeks ago with the Helix: guitars, bass and vocals. My conclusion: there's just nothing bad you can say about the Helix :) Listen to the difference: HD Pro: https://soundcloud.com/amazing_air/all-the-strangers Helix https://soundcloud.com/amazing_air/all-the-strangers-helixx

  15. Okay, so I've been using the pod for guitar effects for some time now. I use it for all modulation, delay, verb and then go straight into my head. I don't use models live. Because of this, I have plenty of DSP left (especially on the 500x) and I want to put it to use by adding effects to my vocals. The inputs are very straight forward, and I understand the internal signal routing aspect totally, so I know how to keep these two signals separate. Problem is, I need an unbalanced output to go to the amp and a balanced out to go to FOH for the vocals. The unbalanced outputs automatically sum to mono so I can't use one of each without sending vocals to my amp! I could use both unbalanced outs and use a DI for the vocals (seems like a TOTAL waste of a good DI and I'd rather use it elsewhere) OR I use both balanced and "unbalance" the signal going to the amp. I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron so I can make the cable, but I need to know whether to short the cold pin to ground or leave it open. I definitely don't want to fry anything. Can someone help me figure this out?
  16. I'm trying to record vocals but it doesn't seem to be working. I plugged my microphone into the pod mic input then turned on the phantom power to power my condenser microphone and then went on a new tone with nothing on it. my pod unbalanced outputs are plugged into my speakers (like normal) and the pod is connected to my daw by usb but when i arm the track it picks up no audio at all but the little green signal light on the pod is flashing when i talk into the mic haha someone please help me! thanks
  17. Hello all, Currently, I have been recording some songs on my UX2 and everything is turning out pretty good. The program I'm using at the moment is GarageBand (might get Reaper) and I have questions regarding the program and recording. 1) How do I go about recording vocals and guitar at the same time BUT on separate tracks? (if that makes any sense at all, the weird diagram down there should 'hopefully' explain my objective). |Guitar|~~~~~~~ |Vocals|~~~ ~~ 2) What my problem is, is that I record the both the guitar and vocals but the two come out on the same track. I have even tried making a separate track (like the diagram up there) and I still get the same result. What am I doing wrong and what do I need to fix? Multi-tracking didn't work either but I assume I'd still need to multi-track if I'm going to record vocals and guitar at the same time, right? 3) I usually mic up the guitar as well, but am I better off just putting the guitar into the UX2's input? If there is a link that answers this question, by all means share. Thank you in advance :)
  18. Hi. I am currently using a Audio-Technica AT2035 running through a UX2 audio interface connected to my computer through USB and it picks me up, but I am really low. I tried messing around with the settings in POD Farm 2.0, but it didn't make a difference. I tried also to change the settings in the windows sound control panel by changing the microphone volume. Some people suggested checking the microphone boost check box, but when I do, there is no difference. There isn't even a slider to change how much it boosts. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. If you would like to know just how low I am, check out this youtube video I made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGEhOfaHLSI
