Are you connected to your computer via USB when it hangs up?
-
That won't work. Powered speakers or a powered FRFR cabinet is your better option. That is, if you need a cabinet. I go direct live and just play through front of house/monitors live. Your needs may be different though. Do some looking around on the interwebs on Helix videos about live rigs to get some ideas. I'd hate to see you drop the money on a cabinet that you won't be able to use.

Are you getting this on all amp models? Are you running any other effects blocks in front of the amp model? Even though you have "noiseless" pickups, they are not completely noiseless in some situations. Mine seem to still have some noise when playing near some of those CFL lightbulbs. The lightbulbs put out quite a bit of EMI.

I use my iPhone connected to USB to the Helix for this. You just need an adapter to do so. You don't need the expensive $40 adapter. https://www.amazon.com/HIOTECH-236651-Adapter-Premium-Lightning/dp/B00S9I7EPO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1483357881&sr=8-3&keywords=iPhone+camera+adapter

This is the way to do it. It makes an EXACT duplicate of the preset in a different location. Then you can rename and tweak it as necessary.

Do you have your volume pedal blocks assigned to EXP1 or EXP2? I reassigned all of mine to EXP2 (default) and don't see the issue any more. I have a feeling something to do with that. I was seeing the issue with 2.01, 2.10. I am at 2.11 with no issues after reassigning expression pedals.

Turn One Footswitch ON...IT Turns Another Footswitch OFF

Both of those two scenarios above work great! -
Did you update the editor to 2.11?

I'm about 50/50 on trails on all of my presets. It just depends on what you are doing. If I am changing the delay time between snapshots, I have trails turned off so it doesn't sound "glitchy".

Do yourself a favor and check this periodically: versioning

Apple OS uninstalls then installs automatically when running the online updater 2 out of 2 times for me so far. -
Woah... what a transient.

I practice often connected via usb, listening to audio coming from the Mac to the Helix, and ran into this before. I have to be sure to turn the audio IN to something other than Helix in Settings>sound. If you happen to have DAW software open (Garageband included) the sound in on the Mac defaults to Helix.

I've been running my amp model and preamp effects on one DSP and the IR with effects between amp/cab and post cab on the other DSP. Plenty of room for whatever effects I want to run that way.
-
I am not sure exactly where you set it up since I only connect mine to a Mac. But yes it should be in control panel, and where ever you control sound/speaker settings. If you have the Helix drivers installed on your PC, you should see the Helix as an option instead of external speakers.

Not sure if this is coincidence or not... After updating to 2.11, I also changed all of my volume blocks in all of my presets to EXP2 (default) to take advantage of the automatic volume/wah switching. Before, I had all my volumes assigned to EXP1 because I assumed that was default, but EXP2 is default. Anyway... I have not experienced the volume block dropping randomly to 1% any more. I don't think that the issue was fixed with 2.11, but I could be wrong. Maybe now that they are set to EXP2, they are not dropping. Just thinking out loud on the keyboard...

Set your computer audio output to Helix channel 1/2. That will get your backing track from your computer to the Helix through USB. You can adjust the level of USB 1/2 in global settings ins/outs.

It's worth spending some time with. You really can get about any guitar sound you can imagine out of it, but sometimes it takes thinking outside of the box. The interface is completely different than everything else out there.

Type "expression pedal" in the search field of the main Helix forum and you will find a LOT of information.

This can happen when you accidentally touch one of the stomp switches. They are touch sensitive. Some people turn that function off, but I find it quite useful.

You may want to contact Mission about your issue.
