  1. Firehawk Effects Blocks Basics In the Firehawk Remote editor, there are 12 effects blocks that you can turn on and off, and assign different models and parameters to. Some of them can be dragged to different locations, some can't. Of these twelve blocks, only five of them can be assigned as: · Drives and Dynamics · Mods · Delays · Filters, Synths and Pitch A quick way to tell which three can be assigned these effects types is that they have a border around them: Notice Stomp, Synth and Mod all are bordered. However, Reverb is selected, so its border is brighter. Here's how to change the effect type of those three blocks: 1. Select one of the three blocks by touching it. In this example, we'll select Stomp. 2. The effect will then show the effect type (in this case, "stomp"), the effect name ("Facial Fuzz"), and a power button to the right to turn the effect on or off. Touch the effect type to change it. 3. You'll then see a "Type" button. Touch it. 4. The block types then appear. Choose one. 5. The block has been changed. There is no restriction on the number of similar effect types or effects assigned to these three blocks. Three stomps, each with a Fuzz Pi on it? Go for it! Just don't forget to save your tone (cloud icon, then disc icon).
  2. I created some new ambient sounds with the HD500 and made a demo video: Here are the tones: http://andy.kapsi.fi/line6/AnttiLoponen-Line6HD500-Ambient-patches.zip Mostly it's just Auto Volume Delay with long feedback, masses of reverb and compression with various effects for spices. I control the feedback of the delay with the expression pedal to keep chords ringing as long as I wish, and to turn it down for switching chords.
  3. Can you do dotted eighth delay on the Firehawk?
  5. I'm switching between patches with different delay times and instead of the delay muting and going to the new setting I get crazy sounds like when you change the delay while playing, which I know techicaly thats what I'm doing but why doesn't it change patches without doing that? Unless I turn off the delay before changing patch I can't stop this from happening. Someone HELP!!!!!
  6. I really wish Line 6 would bring back the blog. They used to have some great articles and really provided info we could use. Sure there was some fluff in there too but WTF? Why did it stop? Anyways, going back through the archives I came across this series about delays and to preserve it for posterity (cause we never know when those pages will disappear) I put them in a PDF form. Looks like it was meant to keep going but something stopped them from continuing. Sure wish they would pick this back up and keep going across the full range of all the effects... 7. Does anyone have any nice ambient pad type patches for the X3, drenched in Reverb and delay pretty much like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O73BWt_x9l8 Is is possible to stack more than 2 verbs and delays together to make ambient pads, I'm guessing dual tone would be the way to go? Anyone with knowledge on getting ambient sounds pads/drones, that would be appreciated :)
  8. I've just bought the SPVX and started using it with GB in a MBP and a Taylor GS Mini. It sounds great. BUT, I have a delay, very small, disturbing delay. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
  9. I recently picked up an HD300 from a guy online. I absolutely love the versatility. One thing I can't seem to find are the delay tap settings for dotted eighths. I know this was an item of contention a few years ago. Has this been addressed in a recent firmware update or am I just dumb and missing it in the settings? I'm up to (i think) v2.3 Fear not, I can always loop in my Line6 EchoPark but I was hoping I wouldn't have to. *wink wink nudge nudge*
  10. Hi, everyone. Newbie HD500X user here. I've spent the last couple of days programming patches and I use a lot of delays a la U2's The Edge. I noticed that I have to set the delay mix to around 60% so that I get the same levels as the dry signal and the repeats, at least with the analog and digital delays. Anyone noticed this as well or are my ears deceiving me?
  11. Hi guys :) I need help, I´m looking for Michael Angelo Batio tone, been more precise, the speed kills no boundaries tone, the tone has a delay effect, and it sounds like it has a lot of delay and a lot of mix (option on delay setting line 6) porcentage, but when I try to get the delay right, with too much mix or delay, my sound stops to sound clean, its like if i added too much presence... and when i low down the procentage of the mix the delay stops sounding like MAB, and even if i lower down down the knob of the delay (to decrease the volume? of the delay) the delay still´s sound too much, is like the delay sounded with more volume than the normal sound of the guitar. Hope you can help me, Thanks... B)
  12. I am thinking about getting the HD 500X or HD Pro X and I can not find any specific information about the mod settings, especially the delays. Can someone tell me what the maximum delay time is and if it is possible to precisely adjust the feedback? I would like to make the Brian May effect, one delay on 800 ms on the right, one delay on the left on 1600 ms. Is that possible to create within the HD? Thanks in advance, best regards. GJ
  13. I just got a guitar and the Line 6 IV 120w. Will the amp do all of the basic delay for u2 songs easily, or do in need a separte pre amp like the Korg SDD 3000. I am following tutorials that explain delay time and give values such as 300ms. My guitar and amp will never leave my man-cave so I'm just playing for fun. I do have some money so purchasing the Korg not a big deal, just need to know if it is necessary, not better, for my very beginner skills and ears. Thanks!
  14. Hi guys. Just purchased the TC Nova delay as well as the TC Hall of Fame reverb pedals. Checked them in the store and sounded excellent. Now I just discovered when hooking the the pedals to my POD XT the sound is very bad. The sound as kind of distorted like it delivers way too much input. I don't get this? I usually run a Maxon OD808 in front of the POD XT and it sounds brilliant. I only use the "Balance" option in this pedal though, and not the overdrive. Anyways my setup is this: Guitar -> Maxon OD808 -> Hall of Fame Reverb -> Nova delay -> Pod XT Also tried going guitar -> Hall of Fame -> Pod XT with same crappy result. What am I missing here??
  15. I have a serious problem setting up my signal chain. I'm using a HD500 connected to a DT50 Head via Line6 Link. The signal chain is Guitar in - Noisgate - Wah -Amp Pre Model (-Delay -Reverb) -DT50 For some strange reason the effects post the amp simulation won't work. They show up correctly in the HD500 edit software are turned on etc. but have no effect. Putting them before the amp works.... but sounds terrible. Seems to me like I miss some little detail that i just can't see.... HELP !
  16. So I am in a quandary about whether to purchase a second m20d vs an analog mixer. I know the obvious benefits of the dsp, etc., per channel of having 2 m20ds, but am concerned about the potential delay of having too many A/D conversions going on in the recommended setup in the FAQs (the main outs of the first into 2 channels of the other)... What are your thoughts? Would it be a better option to purchase a 16 ch. analog board or another m20d? I'm looking to mix 16 ch. of vocalists and drama mics (lavs and headsets) in addition to a full band. Thanks!
  17. I am thinking of an effect that mimics how you sustain a chord through a keyboard. It will sound like sustained chord with the keyboard in strings preset. You hit the chord and it goes on indefinitely. Can this be done in HD500x's reverbs + delay parameters and settings? If yes, how to do it? Thanks!
  18. Hi I have an issue with FX100 regarding how tap tempo works. Essentially it is not possible to set the tap tempo whilst playing a different tone which means that you are locked into the tempo that the tone is configured in and can't configure 'on the fly'. Here is my scenario. I made a tone called Fuzztone Fizzadelic (based on the album I did of the same name while playing for a band called The Now). So I have set a bank on the FX100 as follows: A. Fuzztone Fizzadelic (Straight Tone with no effects on) B. Fuzztone Fizzadelic (With volume boost and slight delay for solo's) C. Fuzztone Fizzadelic (With a digital delay set to say 80 bpm) D. Fuzztone Fizzadelic (with a Jet Flanger) So you are playing live and playing a song at 180 bpm using preset A and the solo is coming. You hit preset C and it switches to the 80bpm setting which doesn't fit the tempo of the song! My question (at last). Is there a way to change tap tempo for all 4 presets at the same time so that I can play the delay live? Otherwise you can only use delay for a whole song on a single preset! You really need to tap the tempo before switching. The Line 6 HD400 range does this by allowing the modulation to be either off or on. Of course I could set up all 25 banks with the tap tempo of the album but I really don't trust my drummer. Haha! PS Check out the tone uploaded to the community at Line 6. It's a good old punk tone. Cheers
  19. I frequently use a dotted 8th digital delay in my patches and have noticed at times, that it somehow stops working as a dotted 8th and becomes more like a 1/4 note delay. The setting in HD Edit and on the HD500X itself still shows the dotted 8th. I always dial in the BPM for the patch, so the timing of the dotted 8th delay is based off of that. I believe this usually happens when I have the HD500X connected to the computer via the USB cable although I seem to recall this also happening when running the HD500X on its own. In order to fix it, I end up changing the type of note delay to something like a 1/2 note, saving the patch, then switching it back to dotted 8th note and saving it again. Has anyone else noticed this happening? It's not a consistent thing, but it is somewhat disconcerting considering how much one may rely on a specific delay for a song.
  20. Hi all I've had the HD400 for about a month and although I'm very happy with its tones I just found out that you cannot set the delays on a dotted time...its either set on a quarter note in tap tempo or you have to dial it in manualy calculating the time... Am I the only one to find this a MAJOR flaw?? Pedalboards are made to give you freedom ON STAGE, not in the studio where you have the time to set everything as it should be? I mean, what if I want a dotted eighth delay and calculate and arrange the patch on a specific time....and the drummer just plays a little faster or slower..everything will sound out of time.. and this is so in all time-based effects, not just delays. I have to say I am VERY DISSAPPOINTED by this...this is a major reason not to buy and not to recomend HD400 to anyone..especially since it was never mentioned in ANY of the product comparisons in the site of Line6.. Dont get me wrong, I'm a fan of line6 products and own several, but this is plain frustrating.. @Line6: Could you make an update and fixthis ?? You can't just go on and advertize versatility and ease-of-use and do things like that.. VERY DISSAPPOINTED.
  21. Hey guys, i have a brand new X3 live, been using it for a month now, unfortunately, after i tried updating some patches from the line 6 site, ALL of my patches now have this horrible slap back type delay on it...i can turn the delay off and on with the button on the x3 live, it shows it turning off and on....but it doesn't change the setting. if i mute then tap my strings. The sound echos back, and i can change its echo speed with the TAP button on the x3, but I cant shut it off, and its like that on ALL of my patches... Ive: Updates the flash twice reset all presets back to factory Reloaded a bundle when i had it working correctly Nothing seems to get rid of this ANNOYING echo, its totally messing with my sounds...Can anyone help or have you had this yourself? Adam
  22. I'm having trouble with my delay getting out of sync. Last week when I was playing live I noticed that the tap tempo on my FBV Express was slightly slow in its response between my tap and the amp. Later I sat down with the iPad and tried to tap the tempo directly on the delay pedal interface and found that the timing was all over the place. I was playing a song that was 75 bpm but even though I was tapping on each down beat the tempo on the pedal would constantly change - I got 72.4, 73.2, 73.7, etc. the closest I got was 74.6 bpm which is pretty good but later in the song I was off enough to notice. I cannot see that there is a way to just dial in the bpm so I guess I'm limited to tapping the tempo, then trying to readjust midsong. Is this the nature of delay in general? If it is, the response time between the tap and the effect should be tighter. It seems that with digital tech we should be able to nail this. So I guess there are really two questions here: 1. Is anyone else experiencing sluggish response through the FBV? This is happening to me even when switching banks and tuning. AND 2. How do I get the right tempo on my delay? Any advice is appreciated!
  23. I need a set of knobs for my Echo Pro and Line 6 has told me that they are no longer available. If anyone has a broken echo pro and would like to sell me the knobs off of it, please email me fonesy@gmail.com thanks
  24. I plugged my hd500 into my computer to change some settings, since then the tap delay on my pod has no light flashing, and the delay will not change by tapping. What might've I done to cause this and how can I fix it?
  25. I am trying to set up an external pedal to control the tap delay. Whenever I play live, the clicking noise from the foot switches gets amplified in everyone's monitor. It is not really a problem except for when I need to tap in my delays since you have to tap several times to get it in tempo. It may be an external mic that is picking up my switches, but I figured the easiest thing would be to just plug in an external pedal that is quieter. I have plugged in a down=on up=off switch from my keyboard. I expected this to work, but it doesn't. Any ideas? Is this even possible?
