  1. This has been discussed in the myriad other threads about DT integration. Sometimes I just don't feel like retyping the same thing over and over; doesn't mean we're ignoring it.

    Tempo Lock

As a shortcut, you can also just touch the TAP switch—Tempo Select appears above Knob 5.
  3. Four whole minutes of silence? It's coming.
  4. We think we may have a solution for this, but it's nothing like what's being suggested. Could be way more elegant.
  5. Broken record time: Your playback system is at least 50% of your tone, which we have zero control over Modelers represent a recorded tone, not a live amp-in-the-room tone Modelers can be hooked up in many, many different ways and when used and A/Bed in the proper context, are virtually indistinguishable from the real thing If the Global Settings aren't set up properly for your instruments and playback system, you're gonna have a bad time All Presets Suck©®TM
  6. Snapshots can be renamed. Press the PRESET knob and then Knob 6 (Rename Snapshot). Individual models cannot be named. Snapshots are part of the preset/setlist architecture and are limited to groups of four.
  7. Correct. The editor is constantly polling the hardware to update its myriad states. Without hardware, the editor can't do anything and doesn't know anything. Plus, it was important for the Helix app to support multiple products instead of having to download a dedicated editor for each SKU. There are other reasons, but we can't talk about them right now. But never say never. If enough people demand standalone operation, it's something we'll consider. Just know that it's a big effort and requires close to a complete overhaul. Think of all the other stuff we could do with that time and those resources.
  8. Helix doesn't have direct matrix-type routing outside of home screen path Input and Output blocks except for USB In 1/2 Destination. 1) Doable, and it won't take up any of your paths. Assuming your main samples, synths, and looping is sent from Ableton via USB 1/2, set Global Settings > Ins/Outs > USB In 1/2 Destination to "XLR." 2) Obviously doable and it'll take at least one of your four paths. Set the path's output block to 1/4" instead of Multi. 3) You mean sends? This is also doable but it'll eat up two more paths. USB In 3/4 to Send 1/2 and USB In 5/6 to Send 3/4. 4) You've now eaten up all of your six analog outputs (XLR, 1/4", and Sends 1-4). You could cheat and use your fourth path to route from USB 7/8 to Digital, set Global Settings > Ins/Outs > Phones Monitor to "Digital," and use a stereo DI to convert Helix's Phones out to two FOH feeds... 5) By two sends you mean two USB channels from Helix to Ableton? There are no more paths to route Returns to USB outputs. You could always place Return blocks onto existing paths, but the path's output is gonna send the outboard mixer feed as well. And again, this is assuming you only have one path/DSP for your guitar. The second DSP is wasted, as its paths are required for routing. Helix can accommodate track routing and monitor mixes for the MD and drummer all day. As soon as you try to feed separate mixes to the whole band, you're really looking at a dedicated monitor mixer or distribution system. Hope this helps.
  9. DSP allocation in Helix is pretty straightforward—every time you add a new block, the DSP filter updates and grays out any models that won't fit on that particular path. When you joystick to the other path, the model list is reflected by a different DSP filter. Whether you alter an existing preset or start one from scratch, it shouldn't matter. If something's behaving oddly, definitely let CS know. Pre-production versions of the firmware displayed usage per path/DSP in percentages (0.1% resolution), just so we could test the filters. Generally, I'd prefer to not make DSP usage visible, as suddenly everyone obsesses over the numbers instead of... having fun making music. Then someone makes a big Excel spreadsheet, and a billion questions pop up like "Why is model X 2.3% bigger than model Y when it has one less tube?" <shudder> DSP anxiety is a very real thing and part of good UI design is purposeful obfuscation. We're not trying to hide anything as much as we're trying to simplify the process of making tones. If we ever did add DSP meters, it'd have to be because there was overwhelming demand for it. Even so, we'd probably hide it on the Global Settings page or something; I'd never want it constantly staring at anyone from the Home screen.
  10. I always go to Sweetwater's site for high-res photos. Yep, the silk reads "USE ONLY WITH PRS FOOTSWITCH." Sorry. :(
  11. Updated thread to 2.11 (released December 15, 2016).
  12. Oh, also try running cabinet IRs on non-guitar tracks. It can sometimes get backing vocals, synths, or percussion to cut through a mix without a ton of EQ or compression.
  13. I'm on board with FRFR as well, but would never suggest someone who's accustomed to the sound and feel of a roaring tube power amp and cab to give that up. Helix was designed to work within the confines of your rig, not force you to work differently. Check out 8 TEMPLATES > 4-Cable Method to start. If you're ever interested in swapping out your amp's preamp with a modeled preamp, just hit the Helix Preamp switch. FRFR isn't a destination—it's one of several doors. If you never get there, don't fight it. Use what you know and always trust your ears. :)
  14. For recording I print to two tracks—one set to inputs 1/2 stereo (Multi Output of Helix) and another set to 7 mono (by default, the dry unprocessed guitar signal. Logic assumes any stereo inputs to be panned hard left, hard right.
  15. There are still a few things we could do (one of which would be really cool if we can pull it off) but they're complicated and time-consuming to get right.
  16. If I understand the request correctly, it sounds like you're looking for something between a preset and a snapshot. When you switch presets, the audible gap comes from unloading the DSP and reloading new blocks. The reason snapshots don't have a gap is because models aren't being unloaded from/loaded to DSP; everything's in there at once, waiting to be enabled/bypassed.
  17. Assuming the camera icon in the upper left is gray, not red: While on Snapshot 1, PRESS and TURN the Decay knob to 8.0. Its value turns white and appears in brackets, indicating it's assigned to be controlled by snapshots. Select Snapshot 2, and turn the the Decay knob to 3.0. If the camera icon is red, not gray, just be sure to press SAVE twice before you switch snapshots.
  18. Nope. Path 1 and Path 2 have nearly the exact same amount of DSP. Depending on your Input blocks' gates or Global EQ, one might have a tiny bit more than the other (likely no more than a 2% delta), but there's no "running the Helix OS" on either DSP. You might be thinking of Helix's two MCUs, where one deals with running Helix's day-to-day behind-the-scenes tasks and the other is dedicated to UI. Soo... a third SHARC? TigerSHARCs? Either one would add considerably to how much you paid for Helix. If another box appears to have "ample DSP," it's because the developers crippled their box's flexibility and block allocation. Helix could also appear to have unlimited DSP if we restricted you to one amp, one cab, one reverb, one distortion, two delays, two mods... which is what other boxes do. Instead, we let you put whatever you want wherever you want, until you run out of DSP. If that gives one "DSP anxiety," oh well—with great power comes great responsibility. Here's the best analogy I can come up with: The Archibald kids down the street get $20 a week for allowance, and they're pretty content because it's consistent. The Lewis kids get anywhere from $40-60 a week, depending on how much homework they do. Dave Lewis did his homework and got $60. His brother Billy didn't and he got $40... and was then upset because he really wanted that $50 video game. So yes, we could make it so Helix feels like it has "more DSP." We redesign the whole thing so you only get one amp, one cab/IR, and eight effects, all distortions and dynamics are mono, all cabs are single, and we'll never make better-sounding (more DSP-intensive), say, delays, because they may not fit the pre-allocated chunk of DSP/memory reserved for delays. All right, kids, that's it! You only get $20 a week now! Helix has the same DSPs as Fractal's AX8 (2x 450MHz ADSP-21469 SHARCs), not their AxeFX II XL+ (2x 600MHz TigerSHARCs). TigerSHARCs would've pushed Helix to well over $2000. Anyone interested should also check out 8 TEMPLATES > 01B Parallel Spans. It's a dual Amp+Cab preset with one on each path/DSP with plenty of room for pre and post effects.
  19. Aside from reamping duties, I'll route DAW tracks—namely synths or entire BG vocal busses—through Helix distortions and delays all the time. I used to use step up/step down, DI, and impedance matching boxes before to hook up my real stomps, and now I don't have to. :) As for reverbs, I'll use Particle Verb and Octo Verb on auxes, but for more realistic rooms and ambience, I have Lexicon, UA, and Eventide plugins (plus Logic's Space Designer). More Helix reverbs are coming... eventually.
  20. Unless you're using an 1176 or clone (or 1176/clone plugin!). Drives me nuts.
  21. I have no idea. Warrants a call to CS.
  22. IdeaScale, my good man, IdeaScale. Otherwise, this happens: Digital Igloo: Hey, we should add a vocal formant filter talk box type thing. Everyone Else at Line 6: Huh? I've never heard that request before. DI: Someone on the Line 6 forums asked about it. EEaL6: Yeah, sure they did.
  23. There's nothing precluding us from adding model select to Pedal Edit mode. Vote that sucka up!
  24. Any MIDI bugs should be reported to CS. Any MIDI-related feature requests should be posted to IdeaScale. Discussing either here is totally cool; just know that forum posts are a much slower and less efficient way to get things implemented; in fact, there's no guarantee we'll see it at all.
