  1. At the moment: GEQ w/ a 1db bump @ 440hz and 3.6 @ 1.1khz > Screamer w/ low bass, and even lower gain, some treble rolled back, and output at 60 > Hard Gate > Tread/Treadcab/57onax, DRV @ noon, bass at 9oclock, mids at 3oclock, treble and pres at noon, low sag/hum, bias/x bumped up, low cut at 130, some Res Lvl shaved off but not by much, a bump in the thump > PEQ with a little Lows shaved off, highs at 35% and a big cut at 2010hz I'm using a single input with a PRS S2 Standard and coming out of a cranked Alto TS112a. Also sounds nice through some old Yamaha PA speaks at the rehearsal studio. I used to mainly use the Panama for a nice thrashy early Metallica/Randy Rhoads/Djent tone, and also mixed it with the Big Bottom model a lot. I get a nice Iommi sound with the Mandarin, Deftones from any of the Marshalls, Chevelle from the Tread and the Shiva.. I can get the uber to sound like the Panama, which makes me regret only wanting the Metal pack for the Panama model in the first place :P (though I don't really regret getting the full bundle after all). I've also gotten successful high gain tones that I was happy with from the Elektrik, Park, Superlead, AC15, and JTM 45 models. Most of my chains were as I describe above as far as pedals go. Some tone shaping in front of the amp with EQs and ODs, a Gate, Amp, and usually the PEQ at the end before any 'verb I want for leads..
  2. I need more mids and less bass, someone call IT!
  3. What pedals, and where would you want them in the chain?
  4. I wouldn't change any output settings on the pod. I would just do your normal thing, and also run a quarter inch cable from a quarter inch out on the pod to the tech 21. The sound won't be exactly like front of house but it probably wont sound horrible. I use to run studio direct through a 4x12 cabinet with worse speakers than that 70 eighty (or whatever) in that power engine and it sounded fine
  5. Have you tried using IRs?
  6. I have the same gripe about the device. What you could do is have two instances of the same Reverb and set each to the parameters you want. it seems redundant and DSP hungry, but it's either that or expression pedals
  7. I amplify mine with this. Class D, 800w. 12in speaker and horn. In a way, you can call it a combo amp :D
  8. If it were the pod hd id say turn the master volume knob up.
  9. We're going to need more information to better help you. How old is the unit? Did you buy it used? Is it under warranty? Have you tried stepping hard on the toe switch? When you do, does the little green or red light to the left of the expression pedal change back and forth? Are you using any specific preset? Do you understand how to assign specific things to the expression pedal? Are those pictures of your device?
  10. ..Or a different cable all together? Try that same cable on a different device to rule out if it's a cable malfunction or not. Could be a faulty USB port on the device itself. I've received a Pod with a bad port before
  11. Yeah it could work. Run an instrument cable from a 1/4in output on the Pod to the AUX input of the Spider Jam.
  12. go to the mixer block and Pan both left and right channels to Center. see if this helps. Also switch your inputs if you haven't already, input one to guitar and input 2 to Variax.
  13. Modeling = Emulating. Digital emulation of an analog amplifier, speakers, microphones, pedals, and so forth. How? Math. Scenes? Nothing to do with Line 6. That's Fractal jargon. Preset = Patch = a snapshot of your entire virtual rig with all the knobs twisted the way you had them when you last pressed the SAVE button, like Double Y said above.
  14. Rufking kidding me? A lawnmower?? That's it? I'm going to bed!
  15. A cellphone in your pocket could even be the culprit :D
  16. Im not an expert at the 4CM but I tried it out for the first time this weekend. I had zero problems. You need to use the effects loop block if you want to use the preamp from your physical amp, but when you turn it off, you're only getting signal from your power amp, so you can use the amp block and select a modeled preamp. if you place the effects Loop before the amp block, you can assign them both to a foot switch to toggle them on and off and you can go between your amps sound and the modeled amp sound. This would be a good way to go from clean to mean without changing presets. I did this in stack/poweramp output mode.
  17. Just for fun I whipped out the old amp head and cabinet to try the 4cm, and I can now see why people love to use it. It's pretty damn fun. No problems, and from what I can tell I get no "tone suck" that I hear a lot about (my amp isnt great anyway). you obviously need to use the effects loop block if you want to use the preamp from your physical amp, but when you turn it off, you're only getting signal from your power amp, so you can use the amp block and select a modeled preamp. if you place the effects Loop before the amp block, you can assign them both to a foot switch to toggle them on and off and you can go between your amps sound and the modeled amp sound. This would be a good way to go from clean to mean without changing presets. After all that, although fun, it seems like it would be a PITA to set up and dial in before a gig or rehearsal compared to going direct like I usually do. It seems more...direct :D
  18. anything with an effects Loop and midi capabilities that you can jive with.
  19. Maybe find a Pod hd desktop for travel. If I need a small device for going direct, I use my Korg Pandora PX4D. There's always the Amplifire
  20. I find guitars and quarter inch (and even 8th in.) cables are subject to interference. Computers, lights, power strips, phones, lights, even the pod itself gives off interfering noises that get amplified through the signal chain. I've put myself in a very large room with my guitar, 2 quarter inch cables, pod, and a wedge. I will get the least noise and if I'm far away from both devices and any walls, and the chords aren't overlapping any devices or other cords that happen to be laying around and I get the best signal to noise ratio. and then the vacuum cleaner comes on the Next Room and I'm screwed!
  21. You could also try raising the action on your guitar if it's real low. This gives the strings more uninterrupted space to vibrate
  22. I go direct, and never used the 4CM,but here's a link: http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/setup#live4CM
