Hi, Love my new Helix and just starting to discover it's richness and sound palets. Today I discovered something strange. I went spdif out for the first time, just because I wanted to check if this was working for me, or that I had the famous dropouts. Well no dropouts here for the moment, but strange noises coming out of my beauty! Even when the Helix was shut off ?!? Did a quick research of course where this could coming from. In researching the Helix, I noticed that it includes new effects models that are not included on other units; specifically the ones that I spotted were the Klon Centaur and Fulltone OCD models. This is probably a stupid question, but will these models become available in a firmware update for HD500x?

Hi everyone, This might be a silly question but I can't for the life of me figure it out. If I've started to record a loop in the helix - and I've made a mistake, is there a way to cancel that recording completely. I've only been able to play the recording and stop it immediately but you'll still get a bit of the start of the loop. I recall on the M13, you were able to press stop but that doesn't seem to work on the helix. Any thoughts?

Hi, I use the Helix in a dual rig situation (play guitar and bass, both in Return 1 & 2). I do it this way so the tuner works for both. ( I couldn't get the Guitar in and return 1 both use the tuner as an example. They are on separate paths yada yada. Anyway, when I'm not playing bass, I play guitar and the keyboard/harmonica player plays my bass etc. I tell this up front so you can get a sense on how I route things. It works awesome and has cut my 2 rigs down dramatically. The guitar is fine. But for bass, I go from the Helix with a few basic foundation effects. (Compressor/limiter, chorus, EQ) out to a Markbass Superbooster with the VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) engaged on 6 (Out of 10). I go direct out from this XLR to FOH, and 1/4" to my bass amp which is set flat and more or less for stage monitoring. The Markbass creates a gritty jazz bass roundness and high end and low end rolloff to my Ibanez SR that I want to duplicate in the helix so I can shed this piece of gear as well (road worn and I expect it to start getting flaky and they don't make it anymore.) I can use the direct out ( Pre EQ) from my amp to take care of the FOH. So, I'm wondering if anyone knows this piece of gear and has tried to emulate it. On top of the rolloff, there is I think a slight bit of compression as well. While its a unique EQ, after all that I've done with the helix so far, I have to believe its absolutely possible to emulate. I'll be down to 1 lightweight class D amp, 2 instruments and the just the Helix if I can replicate this thing!

Seeking input from other Line 6 users. I bought a POD HD500X unit a few months ago and liked it so much that I went ahead and ordered a DT25 head with cabinet. Always wanted to own a tube amp. Do you all think that the current line of floor boards (helix for example) will offer the same level of functionality as the POD.? Again I know that only Line 6 people know the answer so I'm just looking for thoughts on this matter. I guess there is always MIDI but from what I read the L6 Link is much easier. If there is no additional functionality for the DTs to come for the new boards would you all be happy with your DT25...does it stand on its own as an amp without the L6 link stuff? Happy rockin' new year everybody.

I have owned and played my Lowdown for years and it has developed into my signature sound for my band; so, I would love to see a version of that piece of gear make it's way to the helix. There is already a few of line 6 guitar models why not the bass amp that kick so much lollipop but never got the due credit it so deserved. Thanks, I have uploaded this on ideascale as well.

i'm an pedal and amp guy all the way but when i heard the demos on line of the helix i decided to give it a shot and buy one. i recorded a quick audio track using the plexi patch with just a touch of room reverb and delay with no drive pedals. i gotta say i was pretty impressed with the tone of the plexi model. i think the greenbacks in the cab sound pretty legit too. this thing is a no brainer for recording. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULvbZMC13w0

Hi there, let me start of by saying that I absolutely love the Helix: The sounds, the ease of use, the flexibility, the looks! However, at this moment my Macbook pro and Helix don't communicate that well. The App is very unstable and crashes every few seconds/minutes when exporting or importing or doing nothing at all, can't find the Helix, disconnects and gives me messages like: "No symbol lookup table present for models and parameters", and so on. Today I installed the update and the problem persists, no worse no better, but just almost impossible to work with. I have a ticket open on this issue, so I'm expecting it to be solved anytime soon. I opened this topic, to see if anybody has found a practical workaround for this and to learn from other experiences. tnx!

hi guys..love the my Helix...really do....still i would love to also use my eventide H9 max and control the tempo. using the Helix.. in the past i would use the Hd500x and m13 (cause of dsp) and controlled the m13 through midi (tap tempo, scenes)...i am havin a hard time...trying to set up the Helix to sent tap tempo to the eventide...i have looked at the manual...but i still can't get it to work...any help please.. thank you all

I just received my Helix, so I am speed programming my sounds for my gig next Sunday. I'm in a coverband, so I need lots of sounds! I don't no how many times I have pressed the joystick button to try to pick a block up, move it with the joystick and press the joystick to put it down. But that doesn't work!! As you all know, pressing the joystick opens the list of effects, cabs, etc. It drives me crazy!! Is that just me?? I just can't seem to change my routine! I would very much like to be able to switch the functions of the action-button and the joystick-button. Would be great for a next update!!

Hey guys question here . So me and my drummer buddy were playing with the helix yesterday and basically set it up so both my guitar and his electric drums came through the helix and recorded directly onto reaper, The question is, when you have two signals on the helix , so one for guitar then the drums in the fx send , when recording on reaper is there a way to have the drums and guitar go to separate recording paths on the recording interface instead of being on one combined path so that you can then eq the tracks separately ? On another note, it sounds impressive still but being able to relevel separately when mixing would be great. Has anyone else tried to use the mic input on the Helix for vocals? When using just headphones, are you able to hear anything without turning the mic gain way up (which causes distortion) as well as the headphones volume? I've tried with a few different mics of varying types and nothing really helps (SM57, Neumann TLM102 w/phantom power turned on). I tried the template for guitar and vocals and I notice the same issue there. Its just entirely too quiet. Forget about hearing any sort of vocal if you are playing a guitar/bass at the same time. Am I the only one encountering this volume issue with the mic input? Thanks!

I want to set up a wet/dry/wet rig using my Fender Blues Junior and 2 Laney IRT-X expansion cabs. Am I correct in thinking that I connect send 1 to the input of my Fender, and 1/4" outputs left and right to my Laney cabs? I am using the template supplied on the Helix.

Hi, I have a analogue 2.0 Denon Stereo amplifier with two decent speakers setup in my living room. All my digital audio is routed via an external DAC into the Denon amp. Can I hookup my Helix via the S/PDIF-out into the DAC and then into the Denon amp? Or via stereo XLR-out to stereo RCA directly in the Denon? I also have a Behringer mixer that I can use. I just want to use this setup to create my sounds and to get a general idea of the stereo effects, etc. Does anyone have experience with this?

Hi there, this is what I ideally want at a live gig with my 8 piece band: My guitar goes into the Helix. Connect Helix with Line 6 Link cable to L2T (used as my floor monitor). Connect Helix with two XLR's to FOH-PA. Feed the stage-mix of the rest of the band into my L2T. When I use the volume knob on the Helix, I just want to change the volume of my guitar on the L2T and let the FOH-sound (the 2 XLR-out's) to be unchanged (and let the PA-guy handle that) And I want to be able to change the volume of the mix of the rest of the band on the L2T (less dependant on the stage mix guy). I know the first 4 bullets are possible. What about bullets 5 and 6? Thanks!

Hi everyone i have a music room that is 10x12 and want to buy some speakers to run my helix in stereo. I am thinking of QSC K8's but want ask advice from all of you. i am not going to play out but am looking for the best sound i can get in my room. thanks

Good morning, I would like to run my iPad through my Helix to be able to play along with tracks and rehearse. Via the helpful advice I received via another thread here in the L6 Helix Community (http://line6.com/support/topic/15619-helix-no-input-mp3cd-¿why/) I purchased the iPad camera kit to be able to connect it to the Helix via USB. It works perfectly, other than there does not appear to be a way to vary the iPad volume going through the Helix using this method: (1) The iPad volume control is disabled when using a USB interface and (2) there doesn't appear to be a way to vary the input volume on the Helix for an audio source being received into the Helix via the USB input (so as to control in the volume of the iPad audio signal via the Helix input). Question: Am I missing something - or is it true that there is no way to vary the iPad input volume with an input level control on Helix? Any insight here would be much appreciated. Hello everyone. I know there are already a couple of threads with users reporting hiss and issues with XLR output to their board. In summary it appears this is mainly due to the board sending phantom power to the Helix. My ask to the community to help others is what is the recommended configuration for sending your Helix guitar signal "Mono" to a board for each condition below? Assumptions - 1. XLR Left Mono Out Conditions - 1. Board is sending Phantom Power to device (Phantom power can not be turned off) 2. Board is not sending Phantom Power Questions - 1. When should i use Mic level output versus Line level output?

So I'm wanting to record bass tracks through the Helix, but the kicker here is that I don't have a bass (nor do I desire to spend the money on one). I'd be able to plug my Strat or Les Paul in, use a Pitch Wham effect to detune, and run it through one of the bass amp models, right? Anyone tried anything like that? Haven't noticed it in any threads here, or any videos.

Let's share opinions on great speaker options and experiences . So I got the helix to replace my physical rockerverb amp and cabs , the idea being I use an frfr monitor to throw the sound out there for rehearsals . So first I tried the laney iron hearts irtx thing . Great great sound from all the presets though at practice I had to crank it up to nearly full as we have a loud drummer - pushing it to the max resulted in too much feedback . . . It just about held together but needed much more - it's tiny and only 200 watt. Sooooo that's sent back and to replace it I have the Yamaha dbr15 on the way. It's still full range but a 15" come and 1000 watts and much more ruggedly built with 5 year warranty. I'll let you know if it's any good ! What are you guys using ? My fallback option will be the atomic clr but that's worse case scenario as it means another 350quid. High hopes for the Yamaha

So maybe you guys can help with this. With my band I'm running a Helix through a Friedman ASM-12 cab. Typically I have my master knob set at 2:00 to get a good amount of stage volume and send another XLR line to FOH for them. Last couple of shows the sound engineer had me lower my volume sent to them to about 9:30 which resulted in very low stage volume through the Friedman. Does anyone know if the headphones seperate volume knob send the same type or amount of volume? That way I could have 2 seperate signals: one as much as I want for the Friedman and the other for FOH as much or little as they need. Axe Fx has this solution with 2 separate volume knobs for sending to FOH and stage volume of cab or FRFR. Thanks! -
