Hello Line 6 Collaborative Community! Got an HX EFFECTS Windows 10 64bit 32Gbs RAM Last June 2021 I, tried to use FX Edit - but kept getting error -8212. Wouldn't load the patches to edit - I could see the patch names though... Support said to upgrade FW to 2.82? but couldn't get HX Updater to back up my patches - kept having errors. I did it anyway... Still couldn't get HX Edit to load my patches - same error -8212. Support said I needed to factory reset my system. Didn't have the heart to lose my patches, so I left it alone. Tried again this week (June 2022) - same problem, but I upgraded the FW to 3.15 - same -8212 error code Decided to bite the bullet and reset the system to factory (Power On+ FS6 + Tuner) - watched it reset and watched my patches GO BYE BYE STILL GOT THE SAME ERROR -8212 Any ideas or solutions that other folks have found? Hi All. First post here. Have read lots of good stuff on here since buying my HX a month or so ago. I do love it and don't miss my Boss ES-5 setup with Mobius and other assorted pedals at all! I'm pretty good with MIDI (from my 90's days when all my synths/effects were outboard!) but have some observations and thoughts on MIDI instant command/Snapshot/Preset interactions that I'd be interested in feedback on. To my mind, it should (logically) work thus (and I'm only dealing with PC messages here...): In Preset mode, you set up your MIDI messages using the Instants in the Command Centre. These would be the default MIDI messages for the whole preset. Within a snapshot, you should be able to change the instant, or have it default to the ‘Preset’ one set up above either by having no instant at all, or a "preset default" option. I use Midi (for my H9 and Elektron Analog Drive) and snapshots (I use one preset per song and the snapshots for the different sounds within a song) and it doesn’t seem to work in a consistent way for me. For instance : I set up one snapshot as a default for a song and copy the snapshot to make changes for different sections. The Instants do not copy across. If I remove an instant from a snapshot (as the snapshot doesn't need to change any MIDI values) the Instant MIDI command is removed totally across all snapshots and the preset. I'm quite sure this is just me not fully understanding how Instants and Snapshots interact! Anyone got any definitive answers on how Snapshot Instant’s work. I’ve fudged my way through (checking each snapshot’s Instant values) and have the unit setup as I want now but would like to now the official line on how it is supposed to work for future programming. I am considering buying an HX Effects that I would like to connect to my amp using the 4-cable method. Reading through user reviews, some complain about tone degradation and noise issues, particularly when using a 'hot' preamp in a loop of the HX Effects. I also noticed that most of these critical reviews were from 2018/2019, shortly after the unit was introduced. Have these issues been mitigated in the meantime? Are there still noise / tone degradation issues with 2022 units and firmware?

Hi...I noticed for the first time today that my #1 parameter knob (HX FX) will not let me change values. It I press it it goes to learn mode, but it has no effect when just using it in rotary fashion. I don't think I changed anything; if I did it was by accident. I updated to 3.01 back in December. Suite à ma recherche pour controler les canaux de ma tête Laney Ironheart via le HX effects j'ai finalement décidé d'acheter le "Voodoo Lab control switcher" qui me parait la solution la plus confortable. Pour info je me suis renseigné auprès de Voodoo Lab (échanges de mails) et on m'a bien dit que je ne devrais pas avoir de problèmes pour controler ma tête avec le switcher et le HX Effects. Chose importante : l'entrée footswitch de ma tête d'ampli est un "DIN 5 Pins" mais en aucun cas une entrée midi. laney J'ai donc commencé à connecter tout le matos, et la première étape est ok ! : Le "Voodoo lab" arrive bien à faire switcher les canaux de la tête d'ampli via la sortie MULTI (DIN 5 Pins également) quand j'appuie sur les boutons de devant : voodoo [/img] Mon problème est que je n'arrive pas à envoyer le signal midi du "HX Effects" vers le "Voodoo lab". Dans "Command center" du HX Effects je ne sais pas si il faut que j'utilise MIDI CC ? ou Bank PC ? Il faut que j'utilise "Instant 1-2-3-4-5-6" ou "Footswich 1-2-3-4-5-6" ? Et ensuite comment envoyer le signal ? Midi ch, CC# etc... ? Quel numéros ? J'ai vu dans le manuel du voodoo lab qu'il y des canaux CC# 80-83, 84-87 etc.. mais je n'y pompe rien, de plus il n'y à la le numéro "value". J'en ai vu certains qui utilisaient des "Snapshots" pour faire changer les canaux de leur ampli et je n'arrive pas à comprendre à quoi cela sert vraiment. Bref, j'ai essayé plein de combinaisons mais je n'ai pas réussi à envoyer de signal Midi vers le Voodoo Lab. Pour info, j'ai bouffé plein de vidéos youtube (pas trouvé ma config) ainsi que des recherches google à n'en plus finir mais impossible de trouver la solution (et je ne pige pas grand chose en ce qui concerne le MIDI du HX)... J'ai également lu le manuel du HX et du Voodo Lab mais rien n'y fait. Je ne comprend pas bien les "snapshots" et les "instants". After a year of being frustrated between my love of my HX FX and my annoyance with a board that was over sized to accommodate varying power supplies, I discovered that the True Tone 1 Spot Pro CS6 will power the HX FX. Previously I was using the same pedals as shown below, but on a Pedaltrain PT-1 with a rat's nest of splitters and short extension cords below to cope with plug blades in 2 orientations (you can't plug the adapter from the MXR supply and the Line 6 into the same strip and put it under the board. So now I have my HX and a few choice pedals on a Pedaltrain METRO 20! The power supply fits under the board, doesn't require a voltage doubler, and the CS6 comes with all of the cables you need (Line 6 and polarity reversal; the L6 plug switches polarity, but you have to switch it back on the HX). So good. Truetone's website says that it will work because it's a different kind of PSU (I think it's switching instead of transformers, you can look up the video for their explanation). While the port says 500 mA, it will allow the unit to draw more. They have to list a rating for testing and approval to sell it, but it will allow the HX to draw what it needs. Been using it about a month. No heat issues, no quirky behaviors. So happy to have a nice small rig now.

Hello, In a stereo setup, I need to use mono effects on one side only. Let's say this last position reverb : The only option I found is this one, but I have to use one normal output and one send output, that seems strange to me, with opposite pan. Nevertheless, the stereo effects works normally and this last reverb is only on one amp. Is there a way to modify the outputs to set two "Main L/R" and then balanced them in their settings ? Thanks a lot.

Unfortunately the new HX Edit cannot import patches built for the Helix Floor. The only way is to edit the hlx files. I think I will implement a software utility to help the user in this modification and to convert the hlx files from Helix FL to HX Effects. Someone wants to join?

I have an HX Effects and I'm looking for a way to use one expression pedal to control both wah and whammy, and to be able to switch between them, without using one of the 6 assignable footswitches (because they are already assigned to other things). I understand now that HX Effects doesn't support an external footswitch (only external pedals) - pity, it would have solved my problem! So I have the following idea - has anyone ever tried it?: - Both wah and whammy in the signal path, both on, assigned to exp pedals 1 and 2. - Using an A/B switch, connect exp pedal 1 output to A and exp pedal 2 output to B. Output from A/B switch to the one expression pedal. Would that work? Any advice welcome!

I have happily been using my HX Effects every week for the last 2 years. Today the display started playing up. I am greeted with white noise on the scribble strips during boot up about 50% of the time, and odd graphical corruption on an intermittent basis. I've fully reset and restored my backup several times; this hasn't fixed it unfortunately. Has anyone got any insight into what may be causing this? Otherwise the pedal works fine and I even played live with it today and used the tuner despite not being able to see the screen. The power supply I've been using for the last 2 years is a Voodolabs Pedal Power Digital. Unfortunately I bought a discounted HX Effects that didn't come with a power supply so I can't swap it out. I am willing to purchase a Line 6 DC-3H but would appreciate any feedback first in case this is a waste of money and the corrupted display is a sign of permanent damage. Many thanks.

Is it possible for me to control the snapshots on the Hx stomp via midi from the Hx effects? For example, If im on preset 1a snapshot 1 for both the stomp and FX, if i were to switch to snapshot 2 on the FX is there a way to get the HX Stomp to go to snapshot 2 as well with just the one click of the FX?

Hi. I am using my HX effects unit to switch channels and FX loop on my Marshall DSL20 head. It has a TRS cable foot switch. The tip switches the channel and the ring switches the FX loop. I’ve successfully got it to do all the switching, however I’ve found the amp is expecting the reverse of the signal from the HX effects. Meaning that when the ring is NOT shorted to the sleeve, the FX loop is on, and when the tip is NOT shorted to the sleeve the ultra gain channel is on. This means the lights and logic on the HX effects are doing the reverse of what you’d expect based on the amp. Is there any way to reverse the logic of the ext amp outputs so that when I activate the switch the TRS cable is “un-shorted”, or alternatively to have an LED change colour instead of dimming when a switch is bypassed. Currently I’ve got it set up as snapshots to avoid the problem, but that’s a bit of a pain because I need 4 switches instead of 2 to cover all the combinations.

Hi all, Ive seen some info on this pedal but I just wanted to find out if the expression pedal toe switch will work on the HX effects unit?? If not I might as well get one of the Nektar ones or something similar? Just wondering what peoples set ups are for using the hx effects with expression pedals, would love to use the toe switch but doesnt seem like Its possible??

I just bought the HX Effects and noticed that the delays and reverbs cut a lot from my dry signal past the 50% mark of the Mix control. Is there a way to get the Wet signal to be a bit louder without eating up my clean signal? Kind of what a Boss pedal or an analog pedal would do. Thank you!

Hi I've connected my HX Effects to my HX Stomp and its working great. However, using the HX effects as the MIDI controller, I want to press a preset on the Effects and change the preset on the Stomp at the same time. What happens when I press the footswitch on the Effects is it changes the Stomp to a 'default' preset. If I press the switch again it changes it to the preset I have set as an 'instant' in the command center. It feels like I missing something obvious. I have turned off TX MIDI clock in the Effects global setting. Can anyone offer any advice? many Thanks

Hi...I was trying to build a patch last night and noticed something odd. I started with a blank preset. When I used the poly pitch effect on one block of my chain, none of the new poly effects would display as options in subsequent menus. i.e I wasn't able to run 2 poly pitches consecutively. Then I noticed when trying to insert a reverb, none of them were even listed. If I went to a fresh preset, they were. I hope I am describing the problem clearly. I guess my question is aren't all effects available for new blocks, regardless if you're already using one? Yes... I've already updated to the latest versions. Thanks...I hope that made sense. Jeff

I have successfully programmed channel switching on the HX effects for my Amp1 via different presets using bank PC commands but for some reason when I try and do this in snapshot mode, assigning the same values in the separate snapshots - 1,2,3,4 etc. Nothing happens... Rx and tx clock is off and I've followed several videos and guides on this but no joy - I tried factory resets on the amp1 and upgraded to firmware version 3.11 on the HX and I have tried to do this also using the HX edit but it just does not work Ive contacted Line6 support but no response since their initial email, has anyone else had this or is there something I'm missing? Is there any history of defective units in this regard?

I am running the most recent firmware on my HX Effects. For an expression pedal, I am using a Thru-Tone EXT-Ult, built into an Ernie Ball volume pedal with a kick switch on the side. The wah is turned on by using the kick switch on the side, and then controlled with the treadle itself. So the switch is just an on/off switch connected to the HXFX exp pedal 2 jack with a small patch cable. Recently, on about 20 different occasions (during performances and practice at home), I was nowhere near my pedalboard and the wah just switched on. To turn it off, I have to engage the switch and then disengage it. Trying the patch at home, I was looking at the computer editor and watched the wah engage by itself. I've swapped out patch cables. And before the most recent firmware, this has always worked for over a year and 100s of performances. What could be causing the wah to switch on? I didn't change anything in the patch in the new firmware- it is the same one I always use. Obviously the HXFX thinks the on/off for the wah was engaged, but it most certainly wasn't as the pedalboard was across the stage at the time. I spent the last few shows glued to my board, ready to turn off the wah (good thing, too, as it happened a few times). When I am not using the wah, I use the exp pedal for delay time and feedback, otherwise I'd just program the wah to come on when I reach 5% or something. I might just ditch the wah in my presets if it isn't something I can fix. I can't say for certain it is the firmware, but that is when all of this started happening. Anything else I can try? Priest? Holy water?

Hi all, I've been wracking my brain over this one. I almost have my entire rig set yup the way I need it. I'm just wondering if there is any way to have one EXP functions assigned by SNAPSHOT - here's what I mean: SNAPSHOT1: EXP1 adjusts multiple parameters in multiple blocks - Delay Mix. Reverb Mix, Reverb Decay SNAPSHOT2: EXP1 adjusts overall volume on a volume block and DOES NOT affect the parameters assigned in SNAPSHOT1 Is this possible? Alternatively, I'm open to using a stomp switch to "toggle" the parameters that the EXP controls, regardless of which SNAPSHOT is selected, but this scenario seems more complex and more unlikely to be supported. Any help appreciated. Thanks!
