Hello guys I just built some new tones that took months of work. I think that the Periphery fans are going to enjoy them. This Bass preset is meant to emulate exactly Nolly's iconic P3 Bass tone. It also features a custom Impulse Response. The Guitar preset is just pure djent and it also features a custom Impulse Response. Let me know what you think! https://www.sbtones.com/product-category/helix/

Hello guys I just built some new tones that took months of work. I think that the Periphery fans are going to enjoy them. This Bass preset is meant to emulate exactly each parallel signal on the Neural DSP Parallax plugin. It also features a custom Impulse Response. Let me know what you think! P.S: I am saying "exactly", because I literally tested every single amp sim on the Fractal and Helix arsenal, until I found the single amp sim that fitted perfectly. https://www.sbtones.com/product-category/helix/

Dears, I use Helix with a bass guitar the way I send a signal from Helix to my Ampeg combo (via 6,3 mm jacks; just for a stage - to not depend on the monitors) and to PA (via XLR, cabinet simulation included) and I would like to ask for your suggestions: I would like to purchase a bass amp so I could go for a gig only with the head and use the local cabinet (simply to save some space in a van). I need it only for the power, not to work with sound since it is created directly in Helix and I connect the Helix to the FX loop return so I basically by-pass the EQ etc. I would start on 400 W power. So my idea is some simple (simplier = better) but powerful amp. Would you have any recommendations please? Thank you in advance for your feedback. BR, Kurt Strohschneider

Hello all! Just bought the Redwirez bass IR pack and while importing them found theres so many different variations of each, with so many different microphones. Does anyone know the best way of organising these? Is it to find the ones you like and import just those? Or is there a way to get them all uploaded so you can switch between microphones? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks

Hey, I was wondering if I can route this way: 1) Bass through the Main-Ins to Main-Out. 2) The In-ear-Mix (the signal that normally goes to the "Body-Pack") through the returns. 3) Listen via Headphone-Jack to both Bass and In-Ear-Mix. So far I got: 1) and 2) working correctly... but I only hear the bass through the headphone-jack - without the In-Ear-Mix (coming from Returns) :-( Can you guys help? Thank you in advance! Alex.

My current setup (which I use for shows at mid to large sized venues) is pod go with an epiphone thunderbird and a headrush frfr112 but it sounds much better when I plug my bass directly to the speaker. I have created a bass rig and it sounds great but still not as good as the direct input from my bass. Am I missing something related to the global eq or some other settings because I never faced these problems as a lead guitarist but recently I’ve made the switch and I’m kind of convinced that the pod go is just not meant for the bass. Any suggestions appreciated

I have the black version of the 705 bass with the silver pick guard and would be very interested in trying to switch it out for the tortoise version. Before I launch into cutting a custom one, are there any spares that might be available? Many thanks

Hi. Pretty new to Helix (floor v. 3.6) and Fender Active Precision Deluxe Bass. Playing through Helix with Pre-amp, Amp, cabinet, EQ, compressor etc. block chain settings. Wondering about best mics to use, placement, cabinets, etc.. I used to run live sound so I am familiar with what works analog. I would normally use a DI (output or box) or a bass drum or floor tom-tom mic on a mic stand or, maybe, a flat-sided "guitar" mic laying against the speaker grill. I can't really tell much of anything from the names/types, etc. and don't just want to try them all without a clue. Also, I don't get what position (7.5) is (vs. angle and distance), why distance is 9" (default for 47 Cond FET (Condenser Field Effect Transformer?)). (Starting with "Bass" amps / cabs.) Any / all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello everyone! This is the new thread dedicated to bass presets for Pod HD series. The original thread was located in the community "Long forgotten bass players", but I think it will be better here. I hope that this thread will become a place to share experiences, knowledge, and above all, our presets for bass! To start the discussion, here's my Bass Setlist for HD500 with 20 patches: HD500 Setlist V3 - "High Output Bass Amps" (16-Jan-2013) http://www.mediafire.com/?h4yta8468nawfzt How to convert Setlists: If you have a different Pod HD, you can use this tool: http://www.jzab.de/content/pod-hd All this presets are set on a "single arm chain": What you get with this Setlist is a high volume of output using a Bass, forget the messes that involved the dual input configuration, and make the pod HD works in a very similar way to how the Bass Pod worked (regarding to mono wet and dry outputs). But here you have the advantage of being able to play your bass in true stereo, too. Now you can have a balanced sound between the bass and guitar, and record comfortably in your sequencer. I left the presets configured as inputs Guitar:Same, but please, I do not want to contribute to this confusion. Using this new configuration (let's call it "single arm chain"), the input 2 has absolutely no effect on the sound (when using the config 1 mentioned below) If you want to record two mono tracks (wet and dry, panned all the way L/R), then it makes sense to use the second input as "same" (when using the config 2 mentioned below). Unmuting the Channel 2 you actually obtain a completely dry signal from your instrument. Of course you can also use a combination of both if you want to use another instrument on channel 2. But most important is to understand that in this way we have two inputs completely separated from each other without causing strange effects in the other, or interfere in any way. As I said before, for me this has been a great discovery. Thank you very much to Meambobbo. This is the structure for v3 patches: 1- Noise Gate. I'm currently using noise gates, until I learn how to use the hard gates. I'm a little slow! More details here: http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/ampTone#noiseGates 2- Tube comp. Almost same settings than before. 3- Classic Distortion. Still here, for now. You could also use a wah pedal or whatever else here, if you prefer. 4- Analog Chorus. I removed the ugly delay in front of the amp, and now I have a chorus. I like this effect for bass, and I think this is the best sounding of the three possible. The Dimension and Triple chorus does not sound bad, but have far fewer parameters and are therefore less controllable. In contrast, analog chorus has many controls, a vibrato mode, a tone control, etc. For now I used a basic setting, but it sounds pretty good with the reverb. 5- Studio EQ. Still here, for now. I'm not using it much now, because I have found that it can be a specific setting for each bass you use. Maybe try a parametric EQ, but it seems much more complicated for me: http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/eq 6- Mid Focus EQ. Hi and Low pass filters, now with settings 5%-65%. Gain between 0-30% 7- Spring Reverb. I used a reverb that is noticeable, but not annoying. Sounds great alongside the chorus. At least I like to use them together to have a good time. Note that when using chorus+reverb, overall volume will also rise up! I have had this in mind, so that the volume is not excessive when active. Still, if you play too hard, this could produce clip, so look first at gain settings I put into the Mid EQ. 8- FX loop. I´m using a Boss RC-300 loopstation here. About the Inputs and Mixer settings using the config above (single arm chain): Config 1: Just to play (Stereo) Input 1 - Guitar Input 2 - (Doesn´t matter, since PathB is muted.). Mixer - PathA +12 dB center, PathB Muted (panned 100%R just for convenience when using config2) Config 2: Recording (2 mono channels, Left Wet (processed), Right Dry (unprocessed, or DI) Input 2 - Guitar Input 2 - Same Mixer- PathA +12dB 100% Left, PathB +12dB 100% Right So you can: Record a stereo track selecting the stereo input, and then split the track on two separate mono tracks on your DAW. OR, arm two mono tracks on your secuencer selecting each separate mono input, and record both at the same time. Personally I like best the second approach, becouse I´m using Logic Pro, maybe in your secuencer there is an easier or practical way to do the first one.

I created a bunch of patches for an upcoming gig (first time live with the HX FX). Some patches are merely a clean sound with a compressor, others add a pitch shifter to that, and yet others are more complex with a Fuzz, Overdrive and Distortion. As most of the individual effects have one or more parameters to set their individual volume (or level or drive), not all effects have the same overall volume level. I want to save the sound engineer from a heart attack each time i change presets so i was wondering if there's an easy way to set the same output volume for all those patches. Now i attempt to balance the parameters of the different effects separately, but i'm afraid it's not good enough like that. Any suggestions? TIA PS this is for an active bass guitar, and I don't use any expression pedals.

Howdy all! 1st off I am a newbie..really newbie as I don't own a Helix..yet. I am a bassist and Stickist..I own a 10 string Stick and an NS Stick. I am pure analog at the moment. Instrument>effects board>pre-amp>amp>speaker. I had a situation a few weeks ago on stage that lead me here..to Helix..by way of recommendation. My Carvin MB12 w/ ext cab blew up on me during our set (last song, luckily) and I have gone back to using my old rig which consists of a Behringer Bass V Amp Pro and a Crown 2000 Watt amp in a rack pushing a Behringer 4x10 cab (damn thing weighs 90lbs by itself!) and my effects board which is a HoleyBoard Wide loaded with a Bass Whammy,Tech 21 VT Bass,Tech 21 Boost Chorus,Electro-Harmonix Big Bass Muff,Donner Mini Looper, Donner vol/wah, and Donner Multi delay/chorus/dist. I sometimes use the Behringer FCB 1010 along with my HoleyBoard. That's a lot of gear to lug around...heavy gear. My Carvin is gonna cost a bit to fix since Carvin is no longer making that amp (actually I think Carvin is out of business?) and a rebuild of the power section would be necessary to get it running. I'd rather turn it into a stand alone cab. A friend/bassist introduced me to the Helix. He uses just the LT and IEM..that's it. He was a die hard analog guy and he knew what I was gonna say.."But dude..no amp onstage? No air being pushed up against your back reassuring you? Total reliability on the monitor system?". Not having an amp onstage to me seems a bit scary. Maybe in the future..after my back gives out from hauling around that damned 90 lb cab. After he demonstrated the Helix's routing options, ease of use (I'm MIDIphobic...so the Helix's simple UI is a huge plus for me) and modelling software, I started to rethink my rig. So I'm off to his house this week for a full on demo, Stick and bass in hand. My budget, fortunately, can accommodate either the Floor, the LT, or the Rack+Control+Expression Pedal. And I found out that my blown Carvin Micro can be converted to a stand alone cab for next to nothing and since I also have the ext cab for a little extra Umph! I won't have to lug around that 90 lb cab. Anyway...what I am wanting to do is the following: Scenario 1: With a bass. 1 mono signal to the Helix from my bass, then split and processed as 2 signals, one clean with efx and one dirty with efx, mixed internally, then sent out as one signal to my amp/monitor/house, what have you. In the future would like two outs but let's keep it simple for now. Scenario 2: With my Chapman Stick. Same as Scenario 1 but running two signals into the Helix from my Stick or NS Stick (stereo instruments), one input for the Bass side and one for the Melody, and processing each signal separate. I currently am only playing bass with my band as adding the Stick would require a second amp and a second set of stomp boxes to get the full benefit of the split stereo pickups. When I do play the Stick I run it into a small mixer and then to my Holeyboard which gives me the ability to mix the signal levels but not process them separate with their own efx unless I bring more pedals, cables, amps, etc. Nope..I'm trying to scale down my rig as it is. Any input and advice would be greatly welcomed and appreciated!

Hello all.. I just uploaded a preset that I have been using with my Dean Rhapsody 12 string bass. It's called dIg dUg 12ver and it's on the Line 6 Custom Tone Page now. It's inspired by Dug Pinnick of King's X. In 2014 I was fortunate enough to play on the 2014 Progressive Nation at Sea Festival where I met Dug and was able to pick his brain on how he gets that tremendous bass tone..crunchy with no lose of bass at all (check out Pretend from the Dogman album and also the intro to Out of the Silent Planet from Gretchen Goes to Nebraska) . I asked him if he used a crossover of some kind..he responded with "Nope, two amps..it's the only way! A bass amp running clean with the bass up, and a guitar amp running dirty with the bass out and highs cranked all the way... absolutely no bass or it gets muddy!" He then told me that someone was working on a preamp for him that did all this without the need for two amps..he wasn't able to discuss exactly who or when (of course this ended up being the Tech 21 Dug Ultrabass 1000 preamp). When I got my Helix Rack I figured I'd try out a similar setup to his 2 amp method. A detailed description can be found on the download page. If you wanna hear how it sounds you can hear it at Internet Archive. I recorded it direct from my Helix Rack into my MacBook Pro using Waveform 11 as my DAW, and my Dean Rhapsody 12 string strung up with custom gauge stainless steel SIT Rock Brights. The other preset I've uploaded is called Ged2112 and is my version of the Tech 21 GED2112 preamp. I use it with my Sire V7 w maple neck. Pretty straight forward, nuthn' too fancy. Just my approximation of Geddy Lee's tone. Somewhere between Moving Pictures and Clockwork Angels. Sorry, no sound bytes. Please comment if ya download!

My Pod HD500X recently packed up (le cry) and I had the Bass Amp Pack downloaded on it which I purchased about a year ago. I bought a NEW HD500X for teaching and because it's familiar - but I can't find a way to redownload my previous bass settings with the pack. Is this possible to transfer packs over from one HD500X to another?

I currently use a simple A/B switcher to swap inputs between my Kiesel ZBM6 (18v active pre) and NS Design WAV4 (passive piezo, running through an external 18V Aguilar pre). Even with the preamp for the upright cranked up all the way, the Kiesel pre is much louder. Is it possible to process the two inputs on the HX Stomp XL independently? Will I be able to match the levels and dynamics between the two instruments? Whether or not that's toggling the active input or certain patches only process one or the other input. Also, how does the onboard tuner fare with a low B string? Thank you.

Hi all! Here's the problem: When I try adding distortion to my bass guitar tone it always gets extremely fizzy. I have tested different options (lowering high cut even down to 2 kHz, various amps, cabs, IRs, EQs, different models of distortion pedals and amps, different amp settings etc.) - though it's possible to mitigate the problem to an extent, the fizziness is always there. The solution which seems to work best for me is lowering the input impedance, even all the way down to 10k Ohm, which works more or less like turning down the tone knob on the guitar. Basically with that solution I'm quite happy with the tones I'm able to get now, so I'm not really asking for help with solving my problem - I'm just curious if anyone else has come across this issue and what solutions they may have come up with. BTW - with guitar tones setting the amp/IR block high cut to somewhere between 5 and 8 kHz basically always solves the fizziness problem - the more surprised I am at how hard it is to eliminate it from bass guitar tones. [edit] One thing I forgot to mention - the bass guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Junior Tribute DC - what I mean is I don't suppose the quality of the bass or it's pickup should be a problem. Cheers all!

Hey all. Just got a helix and still learning it, probably for some time. Got it mainly for church with guitar and found out it has great bass tones as well. I would like to use it live but unsure if it’s capable of doing like my current rig. I’ve searched the manual and forums to no avail. My band goes ampless with in ears. I use a MB 800+ preamp with two xlr outs on it, to the mixer. One is set pre effects to FOH and post effects to in ears. I can adjust all gig long if necessary without affecting FOH. Are the xlr’s out of the helix capable of this? I see no pre/post selectors on the helix itself and find nothing in the settings to do this. Is the helix post only and if I change on the helix it also changes FOH? If so then I’ll stay with my current setup. Thanks.

Hi! I'm a new bass HX Stomp user and i wanted to use this beast like a no pc Guitar Rig. But i have some trouble to find some good tones for the style i want to use it with! I play various modern style of music like lofi hip hop, futur house and overall electro style, so when i use Guitar rig, i surch for weird effects preset and adjust with what i need... i use a lot of Octaver(oc2 for that), Bit crusher, phaser, stereo... But when a go through the HX, i don't find much of good starting point to go in the direction i want... I know that those type of pedals are usualy used by "rock" musicians so there is millions of good thing for that style, but i'm afraid i really have to dig a long time to find my way... :s So i wanted to know if you knew some place where people share thoses kind of presets... or at least a forum where people exchange there presets! Thank a lot !

I'm hoping for a Super Bassman inspired model as it's the only 'sound' for bass that I feel the helix and stomp are missing aside from maybe an Ashdown. (Its also one of my favorites so I am biased lol) What other bass amp models are you all excited for them to hopefully add in the future? (Heck throw in guitar ones too if you want)

Folks, I got a special problem. I am a guitarist (mostly rhythm guitar) and since several months our band cannot find a good bassist. I am considering the following idea: signal path A should go by 4cm into the amp (standard guitar amp) signal path B is used to produce a bass sound (octaver, compressor, bass amp simulation --> directly into FOH) Problem is: I would want only the low notes of the guitar going into the bass signal path to not mudden the bass sound up. So I would need some filter that is letting through only the notes I play on the low E- and A-string in the range of little more than an octave. Meaning, every note that is played, that is higher than let's say f# should be filtered out. So I still could play chords, while signal path B would only process single line bass notes. That's about the idea. My question is: Can that be realized with a Helix and if so ... HOW?

So recently I finally got a bass for me to use with by Bass Pod xt (A gift from my father). I've using it with my guitar and I really like how it sounds with its integrated am models and effects. But once I got my new bass, it suddenly won't turn on. I've searched to see if anyone has encountered the same issue but ultimately found none. It seems that this is the only thing I can do for help. Does anyone know what to do.

Hi Years ago a strap gave way and the body of my beloved Variax Bass hit the floor. Not too hard but any is too much. I'm pretty sure the next time I plugged it in, it did not work. It was years ago but i'm pretty sure the drop did it. I just set my gear up and tried it again in case I overlooked something. Still no sound, Just a green light on the bass and xps-DI. Is there something easy that may have come loose that I can spot and fix inside? If not, who can repair this for me in NYC please? Thanks, Tony

Am a session musician and although I play lots of instruments I play bass most of the time, I have one of the new James Tyler variax guitars and I must say its a vast improvement and is one of my must have guitars I take it everywhere. I personally would love you to do a new version of the variax bass to have one in my arsenal would make my life a lot more easy, Would love to hear all of your thoughts on the idea and what it must have for example sounds and the desine of the bass ?
