  1. https://youtube.com/shorts/RelV779FIjQ After I moved to this new apartment, it did not have this noise right away but it started to get this weird hum/hiss/buzz sound. It sounds a lot worse with the headphones (because it is right next to you ear). It is worse when I using single coil guitars. Thinking it could be ground loop, I used the power conditioner from Furhman? still had that same noise. I took it to a shop and people there said there is no issue. FS1 is boost, FS2 is overdrive, FS4 was compression pedal. When I unplug the guitar, there is no noise. Using the position 2 and 4 from start cuts the noise off but when you play that noise can be heard in the back and leaves the trails of the noise. I tried doing everything, plugging just the pedal in the power, trying it in the different room etc. Nothing seems to work so far. I will be taking it to different house maybe in few weeks but other than that I have no idea what is causing this. What could be the issue?
  2. For the past year or two I have been unable to set up my Line 6 POD XT Pro to record properly into Reaper. I had to have a friend round to have a poke around for me with hopes that he may be able to fix it so this is said friend typing on my behalf! Presently, I am able to record but playback is very crackly. My setup is a little unconventional. I have an audio out port from my PC going to one of the Aux in's on my stereo system, to which my standard hi-fi speakers are connected. The POD XT Pro is connected to the PC via the usual firewire cable. However, I have to have a cable running from the Phones jack to the other Aux in port on my stereo system, so I have to toggle between the two Aux inputs depending on whether I want to hear sound from my PC (including audio playback from Reaper) or sound from my Line 6. Bit of a nuisance as it means I can't really jam along to YouTube videos or mp3s or whatever. I know this setup is weird but it's all I have. To attempt to solve the crackling problem I went to Preferences in Reaper and saw that the current Audio system setting in Audio > Device is "WASAPI (Windows 7/8/Vista)" My friend said that the norm is to have whatever ASIO device is available, so we tried this, and there are 2 sub-options of ASIO Driver, these being ASIO PODxt Pro or ASIO4ALL v2. Using ASIO PODxt Pro resulted in horrible noise when both recording and playback (earlier on trying it there was no sound at all). Using ASIO4ALL v2 resulted in smooth playback of existing recorded sounds but would not record anything. I presume the fact it says 'Not Connected' in the inputs section has something to do with it but there are no other options for some reason and the ASIO Configuration dialogue didn't give us any answers. I have made sure that the Aux input channel is on the right one every time with respect to whether I'm recording or playing back, so I presume the noise or recording issues are nothing to do with that but may make things more complicated. So can anyone advise how to eliminate the playback crackling when using WASAPI / ASIO PODxt Pro and/or how to get recording to work when using ASIO4ALL? System basic specs: Windows 7 Processor: Intel® Core i3 CPU 540 @ 3.07GHz 3.07 GHz Installed memory (RAM): 3.00GB System type: 64-bit OS Unfortunately I'm not especially computer literate so if anyone can help but explain things in layman's terms as much as possible that'd be great!
  3. Hello anyone. If you have ended up here then you have had to deal with the pain of all this noise. I did however sort it simply. For Windows 10 users, it all comes down to your USB ports. USB 2.0 Fail – no sound at all. USB 3.0 Hissing/Crackling static noise. USB 3.1 Works perfect. Thanks.
  4. Hello everybody! I'm having a strange issue with recording to my PC using the POD X3 Live with Asio (both ASIO4ALL and X3 Live ASIO) plugged in directly to it. When I record every sound, including clean/distorted/chorus etc, I got a very dirty sound which isn't what I'm hearing from my headphones. It's a low dirty/crackling sound but it's there and I hate that. On distortion it gets even worse. I thought it was a problem of drivers or firmwares, so I downloaded the Line6 Monkey tool to upgrade software stuff but it was everything up to date. So I tried to mess around with ASIO's settings but nothing worked. I recorded a clip and I'm attaching that to this post, so you can hear what I'm talking about. My PC specs are: -AMD A8-3850 -8GBs of DDR3 RAM Of course every driver was installed, reinstalled and updated to the latest version. What can I do to fix this? In previouses recordings I've never had that! Sorry for my bad english but I'm italian, I hope I said everything quite clear :P untitled.mp3
  5. I just installed Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan on my MacBook Air. I waited a while to install this specifically because the Line 6 drivers are always bad early on. Sure enough, I've updated my drivers and now when I output from my Toneport UX2 using the analog outs into my monitors or through my headphones there's a constant crackling noise coming out. Please help me fix this.
  6. Hey, I made this post because this is something I have been having troubles with over 3-4 years. I have had many problems with the toneport UX2 version (I work with a windows 7 64 bit system). But two problems have never gone away: a crackling popping sound after X number of seconds and after a couple of hours it would crash and freeze my volume, making me restart the computer. In my case I noticed that the crackling sound may appeared when I was doing something on windows. After searching a lot of forums I found a program that could analyze the DPC latency of a system: go here http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml It will give you information if your system can handle real-time audio/video service. By disabling devices in device manager one after another, I had found my problem for the crackling sound. After disabling my ethernet driver it dropped right into green and I have never heard a crackling sound again. After a day the volume bar hasn't crashed either. After research I think this comes because windows cannot handle a continues data stream over USB. This comes from a security update with a bug. You can try to restart the audio service through CMD with the following commands: net stop audiosrv net stop AudioEndpointBuilder net start audiosrv net start AudioEndpointBuilder The idea is that you don't have to restart your computer but just your audio drivers. I'm just really happy that I can listen to music without ANY crackling/popping noise and just enjoy this good audio card. I hope I helped some people with this, because it sure did help me. Bye!
  7. Hello everyone I got a Line 6 Pod Studio UX2 to start with home recording. I am an absolute noob in this field, so any help is welcome. After I had installed everything correctly and plugged everything in, I could hear my guitar sounds only faintly and my headphones made some terrible noise (seriously, it gave more crackles and pops than my Rice Krispies this morning). I tried Googling my problem and I have noticed that this is not a standalone case. Unfortunately, none of the solutions suggested in this forum or elsewhere have worked. I have tried different cables, different guitars, different headphones, all giving the same result One post suggested going to "Manage Audio Devices" in Windows Control Panel. I went there and I noticed that when I opened the tab "Recording", the crackling stopped for the most part. When I click on one of the other tabs, it comes back. When I try recording something (I use Pro Tools 10), the noise is recorded as well. Should it be necessary, I suppose I could upload an audio file containing the noise. Lastly, the laptop I use is a bit old, although it still works for everything else I use it for. I'm not sure this is relevant, but maybe it could help. I have spent hours trying to fix this but to no avail. Needless to say, this stuff is driving me nuts. Thanks a bunch! Cpt. Pancakes
  8. I am new to the forums but I have a serious problem. My Line 6 GX toneport has been making weird crackling\distorted sound. It is continuous in other amp simulators and recording software so I am sure it is the GX and not Pod Farm. I do use Asio4all so that also may be the problem. If anyone knows how to fix this please help.
  9. I bought my line 6 POD studio ux2 yesterday and I can't get this crackling sound to go away, and it's getting recorded as well. It will disappear if I remove the power cable from the mac, but I would rather not have to do that everytime I record. When the power cable is plugged in the sound even gets worse when I move the "mouse arrow" around. I have OSX 10.8.4 and is recording with Logic pro X 10.0.7 Many thanks for any suggestions! /Nils
  10. Hello there, I bought this machine about a year and a half ago, loved it ever since. Recently I upgraded my desktop with a new SSD to replace the older smaller one, but since that moment the GX hasn't been working properly. I've had it plugged in for a year and a half with the speakers plugged into the GX to play not only my recordings, but also normal sounds from Spotify etc. Worked perfectly, until the new SSD. It plays sounds etc, but every 5 seconds I hear a crackling noise. You of all people understand my frustrations. I've downloaded all the GX drivers (I think, googled for Line6 GX driver and downloaded that), the Asio4all drivers and I've updated through Monkey as well. Completely updated Windows, too. Speakers work perfectly without the GX, but as soon as I want to plug them through the GX it starts crackling. Do I need to change any settings I don't know about? Please help me, I'm desperate...
  11. Hi, I've noticed a slight crackling noise when I play with high gain and drive, most noticeable when on the insane setting. Clean channels are fine. The noise is very slight and really doesn't bother me. My question is should I be worried about this? Will playing on the metal and insane channels break my amp?
  12. I updated my MacMini (end 2012 with internal 750Gb SSD) to OS X 10.9.1. I am using a Line6 UX2 with drivers 7.3.6 (Monkey : 1.65) I ma using Logic X (last version) And I have big crackling and popping issues when I try to record my guitar or bass (on both instrument inputs). I tried to make a bigger buffer in the system prefs and/or Logic X, but it changes nothing. Impossible to have a "clean" recording without a periodic crackling noise (periodicity depending on the buffer size, from aprox 0.3 to 1 second space) The only way to get it clean again is : 1/ to deactivate "core audio" in Logic X. But then I loose all the cool guitar and bass effects... and that's (partly) why I bought Logic in the first place !! 2/ I plug my little Apogee Jam (which I bought for my iPad) and there i gat Logic Audio working perfectly !! But I bought mu Line6 UX2 to use it !!! So please people : fix the UX2 drivers for Maverick !! Or tell me what's wrong with my UX2 ? .. In the meantime, I've lost too much time trying to fix Line 6 core audio problems ! If you can't make drivers for the mac, just say it !! I'm selling my line 6 junck and switching to MOTU ! They have a REAL customer support for Mac OS and CARE about us !!
  13. Good day ! I seem to be having a problem when I play distorted and I have no idea if it's from the pod or my guitar . When I play distorted , I seem to be having a second distortion "behind" the distortion of the amp . It's a bright distortion , not loud but noticeable , and it sounds like when you have a slightly broken speaker that gives a crackling sound at certain frequencies. It's not because of my speakers , I recorded the sound and listened to it through different speakers and headphones . So it's either from the guitar or from the POD . It appeared out of the blue , after the last update but it turned up after a few days ( or I didn't notice it before ) Can anyone give me any advice ? Has anyone ever had this problem ? It's not from the jack input ... I took it out , all the wires are soldered , I cleaned it ... Thank you !
